Imam Ali (a), is reported to have said that whoever enters a graveyard and says the following words, Almighty Allah will grant him the reward of 50 year worship and erases from him and his parents the punishment of 50 year wrongdoings…thereafter recite Salawat
اَسَّلَامُ عَلٰی اَهْلِ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ،
As-salaamo a’laa ahle laa elaaha illallaaho,
Peace be upon the people who believe "There is no God except Allah",
مِنْ اَهْلِ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ،
min ahle laa elaaha illallaaho,
from the people who believe "There is no God except Allah",
یَا اَهْلَ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ،
yaa ahla laa elaaha illallaaho,
O people who believe "There is no God except Allah",
بِحَقِّ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ،
be haqqe laa elaaha illallaaho,
for the sake of "There is no God except Allah",
كَیْفَ وَجَدْتُمْ قَوْلَ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ،
kayfa wajadtum qawla laa elaaha illallaaho,
how did you find the testimony "There is no God except Allah"?
مِنْ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ،
min laa elaaha illallaaho,
from "There is no God except Allah",
یَا لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ،
yaa laa elaaha illallaaho,
O the One "There is no God except Allah",
بِحَقِّ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ،
be haqqe laa elaaha illallaaho,
for the sake of "There is no God except Allah",
اِغْفِرْ لِمَنْ قَالَ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ،
ighfir leman qaala laa elaaha illallaaho,
forgive the one who professed "There is no God except Allah",
وَاحْشُرْنَا فِیْ زُمْرَۃِ مَنْ قَالَ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ مُحَمَّدُ رَّسُوْلُ اللهِ عَلِیٌّ وَلِیُّ اللهِ۔
wahshurnaa fee zumrate man qaala laa elaaha illallaaho mohammadun rasoolullaahe a’liyyun waliyyullaah.
and include us amongst the one who professed "There is no God except Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, Ali is the wali of Allah".
اَسَّلَامُ عَلٰی اَوْلِیَآئِ اللهِ وَاَصْفِیَآئِهِ۔
As-salaamo a’laa awliyyaa-illaahe wa asfe-yaaa-e-he.
Peace be upon the friends (saints) of Allah and His chosen ones.
اَسَّلَامُ عَلٰی اُمَنَآئِ اللهِ وَاَحِبَّائِهِ۔
As-salaamo a’laa omanaaa-illaahe wa a-jibbaa-e-he.
Peace be upon the trusted ones of Allah and His beloved ones.
اَسَّلَامُ عَلٰی اَنْصَارِ اللهِ وَخُلَفَآئِهِ۔
As-salaamo a’laa ansaaril-laahe wa khulafaa-e-he.
Peace be upon the helpers of Allah and His successors.
اَسَّلَامُ عَلٰی مَحَآلِّ مَعْرِفَۃِ اللهِ۔
As-salaamo a’laa ma-haalle ma’re-fatil laahe.
Peace be upon the abodes of the knowledge of Allah.
اَسَّلَامُ عَلٰی مَسَاكِنِ ذِكْرِ اللهِ۔
As-salaamo a’laa masaa-kene zikril-laahe.
Peace be upon the dwelling-places of the remembrance of Allah.
اَسَّلَامُ عَلٰی مُظْهِرِیْ اَمْرِ اللهِ وَنَهْیِهٖ۔
As-salaamo a’laa muzhe-ree amril-laahe wa nahye-hi.
Peace be upon those who manifest Allah’s commands and His prohibitions.
اَسَّلَامُ عَلَی الدُّعَاۃِ اِلَی اللهِ۔
As-salaamo a’lad do-aa’te ilal-laahe.
Peace be upon the callers who invite towards Allah.
اَسَّلَامُ عَلَی الْمُسْتَقِرِّیْنَ فِیْ مَرْضَاتِ اللهِ۔
As-salaamo a’lal mustaqir-reena fee marzaatil-laahe.
Peace be upon those who are firmly established in the pleasure of Allah.
اَسَّلَامُ عَلَی الْمُخْلِصِیْنَ فِیْ طَاعَۃِ اللهِ۔
As-salaamo a’lal mukhle-seena fee taa-a’til laahe.
Peace be upon those who are sincere in obeying Allah.
اَسَّلَامُ عَلَی الْاَدِلَّائِ عَلَی اللهِ۔
As-salaamo a’lal adillaa-e a’lal-laahe.
Peace be upon the guides who lead to Allah.
اَسَّلَامُ عَلَی الَّذِیْنَ مَنْ وَالَاهُمْ فَقَدْ اِلَی اللهَ، وَمَنْ عَادَاهُمْ فَقَدْ عَادَی اللهَ، وَمَنْ عَرَفَهُمْ فَقَدْ عَرَفَ اللهَ، وَمَنْ جَهِلَهُمْ فَقَدْ جَهِلَ اللهَ، وَمَنِِ اعْتَصَمَ بِهِمْ فَقَدِ اعْتَصَمَ بِاللهِ، وَمَنْ تَخَلَّی مِنْهُمْ فَقَدْ تَخَلَّی مِنَ اللهِ عَزَّوَجَلَّ۔
As-salaamo a’lal lazeena man waalaa-hum fa-qad ilal-laaha, wa man aa’daa-hum fa-qad aa’dal-laaha, wa man a’rafa-hum fa-qad arafal-laaha, wa man jahela-hum fa-qad jahe-lal-laaha, wa manne’ tasama behim fa-qade’ tasama billaahe, wa man ta-khalla min-hum fa-qad ta-khalla minallaahe a’zza wa jalla.
Peace be upon those regarding whom: whoever befriends them has befriended Allah, whoever opposes them has opposed Allah, whoever recognizes them has recognized Allah, whoever is ignorant of them is ignorant of Allah, whoever holds fast to them holds fast to Allah, and whoever abandons them has abandoned Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.
وَاُشْهِدُ اللهَ اَنِّیْ سِلْمٌ لِمَنْ سَالَمْتُمْ، وَحَرْبٌ لِمَنْ حَارَبْتُمْ، مُؤْمِنٌ بِسِرِّكُمْ وَعَلَانِیَّتِكُمْ، مُفَوِّضٌ فِیْ ذٰلِكَ كُلِّهٖ اِلَیْكُمْ، لَعَنَ اللهُ عَدُوَّ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْاِنْسِ، وَاَبْرَئُ اِلَی اللهِ مِنْهُمْ، وَصَلَّی اللهُ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاٰلِهِ۔
Wa ushhe-dul laaha annee silmoon leman saalam-tum, wa harboon leman haarab-tum, mo-menoon be-sirre-kum wa a’laa niyyate-kum, mofawwe-zoon fee zaaleka kulle-hi ilai-kum, la-a’nal-laaho a’doowa aale mohammadin minal jinne wal inse, wa abra-o ilalaahe min-hum, wa salal-laaho a’laa mohammadiw wa aale-hi.
And I call Allah to witness that I am at peace with those with whom you are at peace, and at war with those who wage war against you; believing in your inner truth and your outward intention; and I entrust all of that entirely to you. May Allah curse the enemy of the family of Muhammad from jinn and from humankind, and I declare myself free before Allah from them. And may Allah’s blessings be upon Muhammad and his family.
