To seek noble moral qualities and good deeds
اَللَّهُمَّ بِعِلْمِكَ الْغَيْبَ
allaahumma bi-'ilmikal-ghayb
O Allah, by Your knowledge of the unseen
وَ قُدْرَتِكَ عَلَى الْخَلْقِ
wa qudratika 'alal-khalq
and Your power over creation,
أَحْيِنِي مَا عَلِمْتَ الْحَيَاةَ خَيْرًا لِي
ahyinee maa 'alimtal-hayaata khayran lee
grant me life so long as You know life is good for me,
وَ تَوَفَّنِي إِذَا كَانَتِ الْوَفَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي
wa tawaffanee idhaa kaanatil-wafaatu khayran lee
and take my soul when death is good for me.
اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ كَلِمَةَ الْإِخْلَاصِ
allaahumma innee as-aluka kalimatal-ikhlaas
O Allah, I ask You for the word of sincerity,
وَ خَشْيَتَكَ فِي الرِّضَا وَ الْغَضَبِ
wa khashyataka fir-ridaa wal-ghadab
fear of You in pleasure and anger,
وَ الْقَصْدَ فِي الْغِنَى وَ الْفَقْرِ
wal-qasda fil-ghinaa wal-faqr
and moderation in wealth and poverty.
وَ أَسْأَلُكَ نَعِيمًا لَا يَنْفَدُ
wa as-aluka na'eeman laa yanfad
I ask You for bliss that never ends,
وَ أَسْأَلُكَ قُرَّةَ عَيْنٍ لَا تَنْقَطِعُ
wa as-aluka qurrata 'aynin laa tanqati'
a coolness of the eyes that never ceases,
وَ أَسْأَلُكَ الرِّضَا بِالْقَضَاءِ
wa as-alukar-ridaa bil-qadaa'
contentment with the divine decree,
وَ أَسْأَلُكَ بَرْدَ الْعَيْشِ بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ
wa as-aluka bardal-'ayshi ba'dal-mawt
the cool ease of life after death,
وَ أَسْأَلُكَ النَّظَرَ إِلَى وَجْهِكَ
wa as-alukan-nazara ilaa wajhik
the delight of gazing upon Your Face,
وَ الشَّوْقَ إِلَى لِقَائِكَ
wash-shawqa ilaa liqaa'ik
and the yearning to meet You,
مِنْ غَيْرِ ضَرَّاءَ مُضِرَّةٍ
min ghayri darraa'a mudirrah
without any harmful distress,
وَ لَا فِتْنَةٍ مُضِلَّةٍ
wa laa fitnatin mudillah
nor any misleading trial.
اَللَّهُمَّ زَيِّنَّا بِزِينَةِ الْإِيمَانِ
allaahumma zayyinnaa bi-zeenatil-eemaan
O Allah, adorn us with the beauty of faith,
وَ اجْعَلْنَا هُدَاةً مَهْدِيِّينَ
waj'alnaa hudaatan mahdiyyeen
and make us guides who are rightly guided,
يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ
yaa rabbal-'aalameen
O Lord of the worlds.
