Rabi al Akher - Dua for commencing the month

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ إِلٰهُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ

allaahumma anta ilaahu kulli shay'

O Allah, You are the God of everything,

وَ خَالِقُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ

wa khaaliqu kulli shay'

and the Creator of everything,

وَ مَالِكُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ

wa maaliku kulli shay'

and the Owner of everything,

وَ رَبُّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ

wa rabbu kulli shay'

and the Lord of everything.

أَسْأَلُكَ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقَى

as-aluka bil-'urwatil-wuthqaa

I ask You by the firmest handhold,

وَ الْغَايَةِ وَ الْمُنْتَهَى

wal-ghaayati wal-muntahaa

and the ultimate purpose and highest goal,

وَ بِمَا خَالَفْتَ بِهِ بَيْنَ الْأَنْوَارِ وَ الظُّلُمَاتِ

wa bimaa khaalafta bihee baynal-anwaari waz-zulumat

and by that through which You separated light from darkness,

وَ الْجَنَّةِ وَ النَّارِ

wal-jannati wan-naar

Paradise from the Fire,

وَ الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ

wad-dunyaa wal-aakhirah

and this world from the Hereafter.

وَ بِأَعْظَمِ أَسْمَائِكَ فِي اللَّوْحِ الْمَحْفُوظِ

wa bi-a'zami asmaa'ika feel-lawhil-mahfooz

And by the greatest of Your names in the Preserved Tablet,

وَ أَتَمِّ أَسْمَائِكَ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ نُبْلًا

wa atammi asmaa'ika fit-tawraati nublaa

and the most complete of Your names in nobility in the Torah,

وَ أَزْهَرِ أَسْمَائِكَ فِي الزَّبُورِ عِزًّا

wa azhari asmaa'ika fiz-zaboori 'izzaa

and the most radiant of Your names in might in the Psalms,

وَ أَجَلِّ أَسْمَائِكَ فِي الْإِنْجِيلِ قَدْرًا

wa ajalli asmaa'ika feel-injeeli qadraa

and the most exalted of Your names in stature in the Gospel,

وَ أَرْفَعِ أَسْمَائِكَ فِي الْقُرْآنِ ذِكْرًا

wa arfa'i asmaa'ika feel-qur'aani dhikraa

and the most elevated of Your names in mention in the Qur'an,

وَ أَعْظَمِ أَسْمَائِكَ فِي الْكُتُبِ الْمُنَزَّلَةِ وَ أَفْضَلِهَا

wa a'zami asmaa'ika feel-kutubil-munazzalati wa afdalihaa

and the greatest and most virtuous of Your names in the revealed Books,

وَ أَسَرِّ أَسْمَائِكَ فِي نَفْسِكَ

wa asarri asmaa'ika fee nafsik

and the most hidden of Your names within Yourself,

الَّذِي لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ

alladhee laysa ka-mithlihee shay'

the One unto Whom there is nothing like.

وَ أَسْأَلُكَ بِعِزَّتِكَ وَ قُدْرَتِكَ

wa as-aluka bi-'izzatika wa qudratik

And I ask You by Your might and Your power,

وَ بِالْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ وَ مَا حَمَلَ

wa bil-'arshil-'azeemi wa maa hamal

and by the Tremendous Throne and what it bears,

وَ بِالْكُرْسِيِّ الْكَرِيمِ وَ مَا وَسِعَ

wa bil-kursiyyil-kareemi wa maa wasi'

and by the Noble Seat and what it encompasses,

أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

an tusalliya 'alaa muhammadin wa aali muhammad

that You bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,

وَ تُبِيحَ لِي مِنْ عِنْدِكَ فَرَجَكَ الْقَرِيبَ الْعَظِيمَ الْأَعْظَمَ

wa tubeeha lee min 'indika farajakal-qareebal-'azeemal-a'zam

and grant me from Yourself Your near, magnificent, greatest relief.

اللَّهُمَّ أَتْمِمْ عَلَيَّ إِحْسَانَكَ الْقَدِيمَ الْأَقْدَمَ

allaahumma atmim 'alayya ihsaanakal-qadeemal-aqdam

O Allah, make complete upon me Your ancient, primordial benevolence,

وَ تَابِعْ إِلَيَّ مَعْرُوفَكَ الدَّائِمَ الْأَدْوَمَ

wa taabi' ilayya ma'roofakad-daa'imal-adwam

continue toward me Your lasting, enduring favor,

وَ أَنْعِشْنِي بِعِزِّ جَلَالِكَ الْكَرِيمِ الْأَكْرَمِ

wa an'ishnee bi-'izzi jalaalikal-kareemil-akram

and revive me through the might of Your noble, most generous majesty.

وَإِلَٰهُكُمْ إِلَٰهٌ وَاحِدٌ ۖ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ الرَّحِيمُ

wa ilaahukum ilaahun waahidun laa ilaaha illaa huwar-rahmaanur-raheem

And your Allah is One Allah: There is no god but He, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ

allaahu laa ilaaha illaa huwal-hayyul-qayyoom

Allah! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal.

لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ

laa ta'khudhuhu sinatun wa laa nawm

No slumber can seize Him nor sleep.

A.L.M.

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ

allaahu laa ilaaha illaa huwal-hayyul-qayyoom

Allah! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-Subsisting, Eternal.

هُوَ الَّذِي يُصَوِّرُكُمْ فِي الْأَرْحَامِ كَيْفَ يَشَاءُ

huwal-ladhee yusawwirukum feel-arhaami kayfa yashaa'

He it is Who shapes you in the wombs as He pleases.

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

laa ilaaha illaa huwal-'azeezul-hakeem

There is no god but He, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

شَهِدَ اللَّهُ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ

shahidal-laahu annahu laa ilaaha illaa hoo

There is no god but He: That is the witness of Allah,

وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ وَأُولُو الْعِلْمِ قَائِمًا بِالْقِسْطِ

wal-malaa'ikatu wa oolul-'ilmi qaa'imam-bil-qist

his angels, and those endued with knowledge, standing firm on justice.

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

laa ilaaha illaa huwal-'azeezul-hakeem

There is no god but He, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ

allaahu laa ilaaha illaa hoo

Allah! There is no god but He:

لَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ

layajma'annakum ilaa yawmil-qiyaamati laa rayba feeh

of a surety He will gather you together against the Day of Judgment, about which even there is no doubt.

وَمَنْ أَصْدَقُ مِنَ اللَّهِ حَدِيثًا

wa man asdaqu minal-laahi hadeethaa

And whose word can be truer than Allah's?

ذَٰلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ

dhaalikamul-laahu rabbukum

That is Allah, your Lord!

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ خَالِقُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ فَاعْبُدُوهُ

laa ilaaha illaa huwa khaaliqu kulli shay'in fa'budooh

there is no god but He, the Creator of all things: then worship ye Him:

وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَكِيلٌ

wa huwa 'alaa kulli shay'iw-wakeel

and He hath power to dispose of all affairs.

اتَّبِعْ مَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ

ittabi' maa oohiya ilayka mir-rabbik

Follow what thou art taught by inspiration from thy Lord:

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ

laa ilaaha illaa hoo

there is no god but He:

وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ

wa a'rid 'anil-mushrikeen

and turn aside from those who join gods with Allah.

قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِلَيْكُمْ جَمِيعًا

qul yaa ayyuhan-naasu innee rasoolul-laahi ilaykum jamee'aa

Say: "O men! I am sent unto you all, as the Apostle of Allah,

الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ

alladhee lahoo mulkus-samaawaati wal-ard

to Whom belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth:

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ

laa ilaaha illaa huwa yuhyee wa yumeet

there is no god but He: it is He That giveth both life and death.

فَآمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ النَّبِيِّ الْأُمِّيِّ

fa-aaminoo bil-laahi wa rasoolihin-nabiyyil-ummiyy

So believe in Allah and His Apostle, the Unlettered Prophet,

الَّذِي يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَكَلِمَاتِهِ وَاتَّبِعُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ

alladhee yu'minu bil-laahi wa kalimaatihee wattabi'oohu la'allakum tahtadoon

who believeth in Allah and His words: follow him that (so) ye may be guided."

فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَقُلْ حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ

fa-in tawallaw faqul hasbiyal-laah

But if they turn away, Say: "Allah sufficeth me:

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ

laa ilaaha illaa huwa 'alayhi tawakkalt

there is no god but He: on Him is my trust,-

وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ

wa huwa rabbul-'arshil-'azeem

He the Lord of the Throne (of Glory) Supreme!"

كَذَٰلِكَ أَرْسَلْنَاكَ فِي أُمَّةٍ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِهَا أُمَمٌ

kadhaalika arsalnaaka fee ummatin qad khalat min qablihaaa umamun

Thus have we sent thee amongst a People before whom (long since) have (other) Peoples (gone and) passed away;

لِتَتْلُوَ عَلَيْهِمُ الَّذِي أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ

litatluwa 'alayhimul-ladheee awhaynaaa ilayk

in order that thou mightest rehearse unto them what We send down unto thee by inspiration;

وَهُمْ يَكْفُرُونَ بِالرَّحْمَٰنِ

wa hum yakfuroona bir-rahmaan

yet do they reject (Him), the Most Gracious!

قُلْ هُوَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ مَتَابِ

qul huwa rabbee laa ilaaha illaa huwa 'alayhi tawakkaltu wa ilayhi mataab

Say: "He is my Lord! There is no god but He! On Him is my trust, and to Him do I turn!"

يُنَزِّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةَ بِالرُّوحِ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ عَلَىٰ مَنْ يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ

yunazzilul-malaa'ikata bir-roohi min amrihee 'alaa may-yashaa'u min 'ibaadih

He doth send down His angels with inspiration of His Command, unto such of His servants as He pleaseth, (saying):

أَنْ أَنْذِرُوا أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنَا فَاتَّقُونِ

an andhiroo annahoo laa ilaaha illaa ana fattaqoon

"Warn (Man) that there is no god but I: so do your duty unto Me."

وَإِنْ تَجْهَرْ بِالْقَوْلِ فَإِنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ السِّرَّ وَأَخْفَى

wa in tajhar bil-qawli fa-innahoo ya'lamus-sirra wa akhfaa

If thou pronounce the word aloud, (it is no matter): for verily He knoweth what is secret and what is yet more hidden.

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ

allaahu laa ilaaha illaa hoo

Allah! there is no god but He!

لَهُ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَىٰ

lahul-asmaaa'ul-husnaa

To Him belong the most Beautiful Names.

وَأَنَا اخْتَرْتُكَ فَاسْتَمِعْ لِمَا يُوحَىٰ

wa anakhtartuka fastami' limaa yoohaa

"Also I have chosen thee: hearken, then, to the inspiration (sent to thee).

إِنَّنِي أَنَا اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنَا فَاعْبُدْنِي وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ لِذِكْرِي

innanee anal-laahu laa ilaaha illaa ana fa'budnee wa aqimis-salaata lidhikree

"Verily, I am Allah: There is no god but I: So serve thou Me (only), and establish regular prayer for celebrating My praise.

إِنَّ السَّاعَةَ آتِيَةٌ أَكَادُ أُخْفِيهَا لِتُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا تَسْعَىٰ

innas-saa'ata aatiyatun akaadu ukhfeehaa litujzaa kullu nafsim-bimaa tas'aa

"Verily the Hour is coming - My design is to keep it hidden - for every soul to receive its reward by the measure of its Endeavour.

إِنَّمَا إِلَٰهُكُمُ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ

innamaa ilaahukumul-laahul-ladhee laa ilaaha illaa hoo

But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He:

وَسِعَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا

wasi'a kulla shay'in 'ilmaa

all things He comprehends in His knowledge.

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلَّا نُوحِي إِلَيْهِ

wa maa arsalnaa min qablika mir-rasoolin illaa noohee ilayh

Not an apostle did We send before thee without this inspiration sent by Us to him:

أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنَا فَاعْبُدُونِ

annahoo laa ilaaha illaa ana fa'budoon

that there is no god but I; therefore worship and serve Me.

وَذَا النُّونِ إِذْ ذَهَبَ مُغَاضِبًا فَظَنَّ أَنْ لَنْ نَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ

wa dhan-nooni idh dhahaba mughaadiban fazanna al-lan naqdira 'alayh

And remember Zun-nun, when he departed in wrath: He imagined that We had no power over him!

فَنَادَىٰ فِي الظُّلُمَاتِ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ

fanaadaa fiz-zulumaati al-laa ilaaha illaa anta subhaanaka

But he cried through the depths of darkness, "There is no god but thou: glory to thee:

إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ

innee kuntu minaz-zaalimeen

I was indeed wrong!"

فَتَعَالَى اللَّهُ الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ

fata'aalal-laahul-malikul-haqq

Therefore exalted be Allah, the King, the Reality:

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ

laa ilaaha illaa huwa rabbul-'arshil-kareem

there is no god but He, the Lord of the Throne of Honour!

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ

allaahu laa ilaaha illaa hoo

"Allah!- there is no god but He!-

رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ

rabbul-'arshil-'azeem

Lord of the Throne Supreme!"

وَهُوَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ

wa huwal-laahu laa ilaaha illaa hoo

And He is Allah: There is no god but He.

لَهُ الْحَمْدُ فِي الْأُولَىٰ وَالْآخِرَةِ

lahul-hamdu feel-oolaa wal-aakhirah

To Him be praise, at the first and at the last:

وَلَهُ الْحُكْمُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

wa lahul-hukmu wa ilayhi turja'oon

for Him is the Command, and to Him shall ye be brought back.

وَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ

wa laa tad'u ma'al-laahi ilaahan aakhar

And call not, besides Allah, on another god.

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ

laa ilaaha illaa hoo

There is no god but He.

كُلُّ شَيْءٍ هَالِكٌ إِلَّا وَجْهَهُ

kullu shay'in haalikun illaa wajhah

Everything (that exists) will perish except His own Face.

لَهُ الْحُكْمُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

lahul-hukmu wa ilayhi turja'oon

To Him belongs the Command, and to Him will ye (all) be brought back.

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اذْكُرُوا نِعْمَتَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ

yaa ayyuhan-naasudh-kuroo ni'matal-laahi 'alaykum

O men! Call to mind the grace of Allah unto you!

هَلْ مِنْ خَالِقٍ غَيْرُ اللَّهِ يَرْزُقُكُمْ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ

hal min khaaliqin ghayrul-laahi yarzuqukum minas-samaaa'i wal-ard

is there a creator, other than Allah, to give you sustenance from heaven or earth?

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤْفَكُونَ

laa ilaaha illaa huwa fa-annaa tu'fakoon

There is no god but He: how then are ye deluded away from the Truth?

خَلَقَكُمْ مِنْ نَفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا

khalaqakum min nafsiw-waahidatin thumma ja'ala minhaa zawjahaa

He created you (all) from a single person: then created, of like nature, his mate;

وَأَنْزَلَ لَكُمْ مِنَ الْأَنْعَامِ ثَمَانِيَةَ أَزْوَاجٍ

wa anzala lakum minal-an'aami thamaaniyata azwaaj

and he sent down for you eight head of cattle in pairs:

يَخْلُقُكُمْ فِي بُطُونِ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ خَلْقًا مِنْ بَعْدِ خَلْقٍ فِي ظُلُمَاتٍ ثَلَاثٍ

yakhluqukum fee butooni ummahaatikum khalqam-mim ba'di khalqin fee zulumaatin thalaath

He makes you, in the wombs of your mothers, in artifice, one after another, in three veils of darkness.

ذَٰلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ

dhaalikamul-laahu rabbukum lahul-mulk

such is Allah, your Lord and Cherisher: to Him belongs (all) dominion.

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُصْرَفُونَ

laa ilaaha illaa huwa fa-annaa tusrafoon

There is no god but He: then how are ye turned away?

غَافِرِ الذَّنْبِ وَقَابِلِ التَّوْبِ شَدِيدِ الْعِقَابِ ذِي الطَّوْلِ

ghaafridh-dhambi wa qaabilit-tawbi shadeedil-'iqaabi dhit-tawl

Who forgiveth sin, accepteth repentance, is severe in punishment, and is all-bountiful.

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ إِلَيْهِ الْمَصِيرُ

laa ilaaha illaa huwa ilayhil-maseer

There is no god but He: to Him is the final goal.

ذَٰلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ خَالِقُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ

dhaalikamul-laahu rabbukum khaaliqu kulli shay'

Such is Allah, your Lord, the Creator of all things,

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤْفَكُونَ

laa ilaaha illaa huwa fa-annaa tu'fakoon

there is no god but He: Then how ye are deluded away from the Truth!

اللَّهُ الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ قَرَارًا وَالسَّمَاءَ بِنَاءً

allaahul-ladhee ja'ala lakumul-arda qaraaraw-was-samaaa'a binaaa'an

It is Allah Who has made for you the earth as a resting place, and the sky as a canopy,

وَصَوَّرَكُمْ فَأَحْسَنَ صُوَرَكُمْ وَرَزَقَكُمْ مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ

wa sawwarakum fa-ahsana suwarakum wa razaqakum minat-tayyibaat

and has given you shape- and made your shapes beautiful,- and has provided for you sustenance, of things pure and good;-

ذَٰلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ ۖ فَتَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ

dhaalikamul-laahu rabbukum fatabaarakal-laahu rabbul-'aalameen

such is Allah your Lord. So Glory to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds!

هُوَ الْحَيُّ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ

huwal-hayyu laa ilaaha illaa hoo

He is the Living (One): There is no god but He:

فَادْعُوهُ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ ۗ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

fad'oohu mukhliseena lahud-deena al-hamdu lil-laahi rabbil-'aalameen

Call upon Him, giving Him sincere devotion. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds!

قَالَ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا

qaala rabbus-samaawaati wal-ardi wa maa baynahumaa

(Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,-

إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُوقِنِينَ

in kuntum-mooqineen

if ye want to be confirmed in belief."

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ

laa ilaaha illaa huwa yuhyee wa yumeet

There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,-

رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

rabbukum wa rabbu aabaaa'ikumul-awwaleen

The Lord and Cherisher to you and to your earliest ancestors.

فَهَلْ يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَّا السَّاعَةَ أَنْ تَأْتِيَهُمْ بَغْتَةً

fahal yanzuroona illas-saa'ata an ta'tiyahum baghtatan

Do they then only wait for the Hour,- that it should come on them of a sudden?

فَقَدْ جَاءَ أَشْرَاطُهَا ۚ فَأَنَّىٰ لَهُمْ إِذَا جَاءَتْهُمْ ذِكْرَاهُمْ

faqad jaaa'a ashraatuhaa fa-annaa lahum idhaa jaaa'at-hum dhikraahum

But already have come some tokens thereof, and when it (actually) is on them, how can they benefit then by their admonition?

فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ

fa'lam annahoo laa ilaaha illal-laah

Know, therefore, that there is no god but Allah,

وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنْبِكَ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ

wastaghfir lidhambika wa lil-mu'mineena wal-mu'minaat

and ask forgiveness for thy fault, and for the men and women who believe:

وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مُتَقَلَّبَكُمْ وَمَثْوَاكُمْ

wal-laahu ya'lamu mutaqallabakum wa mathwaakum

for Allah knows how ye move about and how ye dwell in your homes.

هُوَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْمَلِكُ الْقُدُّوسُ السَّلَامُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمُهَيْمِنُ الْعَزِيزُ الْجَبَّارُ الْمُتَكَبِّرُ

huwal-laahul-ladhee laa ilaaha illaa huwal-malikul-quddoosus-salaamul-mu'minul-muhayminul-'azeezul-jabbaarul-mutakabbir

Allah is He, than Whom there is no god;- the Sovereign, the Holy One, the Source of Peace (and Perfection), the Guardian of Faith, the Preserver of Safety, the Exalted in Might, the Irresistible, the Supreme:

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

subhaanal-laahi 'ammaa yushrikoon

Glory to Allah! (High is He) above the partners they attribute to Him.

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ

allaahu laa ilaaha illaa hoo

Allah! There is no god but He:

وَعَلَى اللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ

wa 'alal-laahi falyatawakkalil-mu'minoon

and on Allah, therefore, let the Believers put their trust.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عَفْوًا لَيْسَ بَعْدَهُ عُقُوبَةٌ

allaahumma innee as-aluka 'afwan laysa ba'dahu 'uqoobah

O Allah, I ask You for a pardon after which there is no punishment,

وَ رِضًا لَيْسَ بَعْدَهُ سَخَطٌ

wa ridan laysa ba'dahu sakhat

and a pleasure after which there is no displeasure,

وَ عَافِيَةً لَيْسَ بَعْدَهَا بَلَاءٌ

wa 'aafiyatan laysa ba'dahaa balaa'

and well-being after which there is no affliction,

وَ سَعَادَةً لَيْسَ بَعْدَهَا شَقَاءٌ

wa sa'aadatan laysa ba'dahaa shaqaa'

and happiness after which there is no misery,

وَ هُدًى لَا يَكُونُ بَعْدَهُ ضَلَالَةٌ

wa hudan laa yakoonu ba'dahu dalaalah

and guidance after which there is no astrayness,

وَ إِيمَانًا لَا يُدَاخِلُهُ كُفْرٌ

wa eemaanan laa yudaakhiluhu kufr

and faith which no disbelief penetrates,

وَ قَلْبًا لَا يُدَاخِلُهُ فِتْنَةٌ

wa qalban laa yudaakhiluhu fitnah

and a heart which no trial infiltrates.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ السَّعَةَ فِي الْقَبْرِ

allaahumma innee as-alukas-sa'ata feel-qabr

O Allah, I ask You for spaciousness in the grave,

وَ الْحُجَّةَ الْبَالِغَةَ

wal-hujjatal-baalighah

and the conclusive proof,

وَ الْقَوْلَ الثَّابِتَ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ

wal-qawlath-thaabita feel-hayaatid-dunyaa wa feel-aakhirah

and the firm word in the life of this world and the Hereafter,

وَ أَنْ تُنْزِلَ عَلَيَّ الْأَمَانَ وَ الْفَرَجَ

wa an tunzila 'alayyal-amaana wal-faraj

and that You send down upon me security and relief,

وَ السُّرُورَ وَ نَضْرَةَ النَّعِيمِ

was-suroora wa nadratan-na'eem

and joy and the radiance of bliss.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

allaahumma salli 'alaa muhammadin wa aali muhammad

O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,

وَ عَرِّفْنِي بَرَكَةَ هَذَا الشَّهْرِ وَ يُمْنَهُ

wa 'arrifnee barakata haadhash-shahri wa yumnah

and grant me recognition of the blessings of this month and its auspiciousness,

وَ ارْزُقْنِي خَيْرَهُ

warzuqnee khayrah

and provide me with its good,

وَ اصْرِفْ عَنِّي شَرَّهُ

wasrif 'annee sharrah

and turn away from me its harm,

وَ اجْعَلْنِي فِيهِ مِنَ الْفَائِزِينَ

waj'alnee feehi minal-faa'izeen

and make me among the triumphant therein,

بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

bi-rahmatika yaa arhamar-raahimeen

by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ وَهَّابُ الْخَيْرِ

allaahumma anta wahhaabul-khayr

O Allah, You are the Bestower of good,

فَهَبْ لِي شَوْقًا إِلَى لِقَائِكَ

fahab lee shawqan ilaa liqaa'ik

so bestow upon me a longing to meet You,

وَ إِشْفَاقًا مِنْ عَذَابِكَ

wa ishfaaqam-min 'adhaabik

and an apprehension of Your punishment,

وَ حَيَاءً مِنْكَ وَ تَوْقِيرًا وَ إِجْلَالًا

wa hayaa'am-minka wa tawqeeran wa ijlaalaa

and reverence toward You, dignity, and veneration,

حَتَّى يَوْجَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَلْبِي

hattaa yawjala min dhaalika qalbee

until my heart trembles from that,

وَ يَقْشَعِرَّ مِنْهُ جِلْدِي

wa yaqsha'irra minhu jildee

and my skin shivers from it,

وَ يَتَجَافَى لَهُ جَنْبِي

wa yatajaafaa lahu jambee

and my flank turns away from resting,

وَ تَدْمَعَ مِنْهُ عَيْنِي

wa tadma'a minhu 'aynee

and my eyes overflow with tears,

وَ لَا أَخْلُوَ مِنْ ذِكْرِكَ فِي لَيْلِي وَ نَهَارِي يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

wa laa akhluwa min dhikrika fee laylee wa nahaaree yaa arhamar-raahimeen

and I am never empty of remembering You in my night and my day, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُثْنِي عَلَيْكَ

allaahumma innee uthnee 'alayk

O Allah, I praise You,

وَ مَا عَسَى أَنْ يَبْلُغَ مَدْحِي وَ ثَنَائِي

wa maa 'asaa an yablugha madhee wa thanaa'ee

yet how can my praise and glorification ever reach Your due,

مَعَ قِلَّةِ عَمَلِي وَ قِصَرِ رَأْيِي

ma'a qillati 'amalee wa qisari ra'yee

given the deficiency of my deeds and the limitation of my intellect?

وَ أَنْتَ الْخَالِقُ وَ أَنَا الْمَخْلُوقُ

wa antal-khaaliqu wa anal-makhlooq

For You are the Creator and I am the created,

وَ أَنْتَ الْمَالِكُ وَ أَنَا الْمَمْلُوكُ

wa antal-maaliku wa anal-mamlook

You are the Master and I am the owned,

وَ أَنْتَ الرَّبُّ وَ أَنَا الْعَبْدُ

wa antar-rabbu wa anal-'abd

You are the Lord and I am the servant,

وَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ وَ أَنَا الذَّلِيلُ

wa antal-'azeezu wa anadh-dhaleel

You are the Mighty and I am the abased,

وَ أَنْتَ الْقَوِيُّ وَ أَنَا الضَّعِيفُ

wa antal-qawiyyu wa anad-da'eef

You are the Strong and I am the weak,

وَ أَنْتَ الْغَنِيُّ وَ أَنَا الْفَقِيرُ

wa antal-ghaniyyu wa anal-faqeer

You are the Self-Sufficient and I am the needy,

وَ أَنْتَ الْمُعْطِي وَ أَنَا السَّائِلُ

wa antal-mu'tee wa anas-saa'il

You are the Giver and I am the beggar,

وَ أَنْتَ الْحَيُّ الَّذِي لَا يَمُوتُ

wa antal-hayyul-ladhee laa yamoot

You are the Living Who never dies,

وَ أَنَا خَلْقٌ أَمُوتُ

wa ana khalqun amoot

and I am a mortal creation that perishes.

فَاغْفِرْ لِي وَ ارْحَمْنِي

faghfir lee warhamnee

So forgive me and have mercy on me,

وَ أَعْطِنِي سُؤْلِي فِي دُنْيَايَ وَ آخِرَتِي

wa a'tinee su'lee fee dunyaaya wa aakhiratee

and grant me my request in my world and my Hereafter,

وَ تَجَاوَزْ عَنِّي وَ عَنْ جَمِيعِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ

wa tajaawaz 'annee wa 'an jamee'il-mu'mineena wal-mu'minaat

and overlook my faults, and those of all believing men and believing women,

وَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَ الْمُسْلِمَاتِ الْأَحْيَاءِ مِنْهُمْ وَ الْأَمْوَاتِ

wal-muslimeena wal-muslimaati al-ahyaa'i minhum wal-amwaat

and Muslim men and Muslim women, the living among them and the dead.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدِكَ وَ رَسُولِكَ وَ نَبِيِّكَ

allaahumma salli 'alaa muhammadin 'abdika wa rasoolika wa nabiyyik

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad, Your servant, Your messenger, Your prophet,

وَ صَفِيِّكَ وَ خِيَرَتِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

wa safiyyika wa khiyaratika min khalqik

Your chosen one, and the elite of Your creation.

اللَّهُمَّ ارْفَعْ دَرَجَتَهُ

allaahummar-fa' darajatah

O Allah, elevate his station,

وَ كَرِّمْ مَقَامَهُ

wa karrim maqaamah

and honor his rank,

وَ أَجْزِلْ ثَوَابَهُ

wa ajzil thawaabah

and magnify his reward,

وَ أَفْلِجْ حُجَّتَهُ

wa aflij hujjatah

and establish his proof triumphant,

وَ أَظْهِرْ عُذْرَهُ

wa azhir 'udhrah

and manifest his justification,

وَ عَظِّمْ نُورَهُ

wa 'azzim noorah

and make immense his light,

وَ أَدِمْ كَرَامَتَهُ

wa adim karaamatah

and perpetuate his dignity,

وَ أَلْحِقْ بِهِ أُمَّتَهُ وَ ذُرِّيَّتَهُ

wa alhiq bihee ummatahu wa dhurriyyatah

and unite him with his nation and his progeny,

وَ أَقِرَّ بِذَلِكَ عَيْنَهُ

wa aqirra bi-dhaalika 'aynah

and comfort his eyes thereby.

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ مُحَمَّدًا أَكْرَمَ النَّبِيِّينَ تَبَعًا

allaahummaj-'al muhammadan akraman-nabiyyeena taba'aa

O Allah, make Muhammad the most honored of prophets in followers,

وَ أَعْظَمَهُمْ مَنْزِلَةً

wa a'zamahum manzilah

and the greatest of them in status,

وَ أَشْرَفَهُمْ كَرَامَةً

wa ashrafahum karaamah

and the most noble of them in dignity,

وَ أَعْلَاهُمْ دَرَجَةً

wa a'laahum darajah

and the highest of them in rank,

وَ أَفْسَحَهُمْ فِي الْجَنَّةِ مَنْزِلًا

wa afsahahum feel-jannati manzilaa

and the most expansive of them in dwelling within Paradise.

اللَّهُمَّ بَلِّغْ مُحَمَّدًا الدَّرَجَةَ وَ الْوَسِيلَةَ

allaahumma balligh muhammadanid-darajata wal-waseelah

O Allah, convey Muhammad to the highest degree and the means of mediation,

وَ شَرِّفْ بُنْيَانَهُ

wa sharrif bunyaanah

and honor his edifice,

وَ عَظِّمْ نُورَهُ وَ بُرْهَانَهُ

wa 'azzim noorahu wa burhaanah

and magnify his light and his proof,

وَ تَقَبَّلْ شَفَاعَتَهُ فِي أُمَّتِهِ

wa taqabbal shafaa'atahu fee ummatih

and accept his intercession for his nation,

وَ تَقَبَّلْ صَلَاةَ أُمَّتِهِ عَلَيْهِ

wa taqabbal salaata ummatihee 'alayh

and accept the blessings of his nation upon him.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَلَّغَ رِسَالَاتِكَ

allaahumma salli 'alaa muhammadin kamaa ballagha risaalaatik

O Allah, bless Muhammad just as he conveyed Your messages,

وَ تَلَا آيَاتِكَ

wa talaa aayaatik

and recited Your signs,

وَ نَصَحَ لِعِبَادِكَ

wa nasaha li-'ibaadik

and sincerely advised Your servants,

وَ جَاهَدَ فِي سَبِيلِكَ وَ عَبَدَكَ حَتَّى أَتَاهُ الْيَقِينُ

wa jaahada fee sabeelika wa 'abadaka hattaa ataahul-yaqeen

and strove in Your path, and worshipped You until certainty came unto him.

اللَّهُمَّ زِدْ مُحَمَّدًا مَعَ كُلِّ شَرَفٍ شَرَفًا

allaahumma zid muhammadam-ma'a kulli sharafin sharafaa

O Allah, increase Muhammad with every honor an additional honor,

وَ مَعَ كُلِّ فَضْلٍ فَضْلًا

wa ma'a kulli fadlin fadlaa

and with every virtue an additional virtue,

وَ مَعَ كُلِّ كَرَامَةٍ كَرَامَةً

wa ma'a kulli karaamatin karaamah

and with every nobility an additional nobility,

وَ مَعَ كُلِّ سَعَادَةٍ سَعَادَةً

wa ma'a kulli sa'aadatin sa'aadah

and with every felicity an additional felicity,

حَتَّى تَجْعَلَ مُحَمَّدًا فِي الشَّرَفِ الْأَعْلَى مَعَ الدَّرَجَاتِ الْعُلَى

hattaa taj'ala muhammadan feesh-sharafil-a'laa ma'ad-darajaatil-'ulaa

until You place Muhammad in the supreme honor alongside the highest ranks.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

allaahumma salli 'alaa muhammadin wa 'alaa aali muhammad

O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,

وَ سَهِّلْ لِي مِحْنَتِي

wa sahhil lee mihnatee

and ease for me my trial,

وَ بَلِّغْنِي أُمْنِيَّتِي

wa ballighnee umniyyatee

and make me attain my hope,

وَ وَسِّعْ عَلَيَّ فِي رِزْقِي

wa wassi' 'alayya fee rizqee

and expand for me my sustenance,

وَ اقْضِ عَنِّي دَيْنِي

waqdi 'annee daynee

and settle for me my debt,

وَ فَرِّجْ عَنِّي هَمِّي وَ غَمِّي وَ كَرْبِي

wa farrij 'annee hammee wa ghammee wa karbee

and remove from me my worry, my distress, and my sorrow,

وَ يَسِّرْ لِي إِرَادَتِي

wa yassir lee iraadatee

and facilitate for me my will,

وَ أَوْصِلْنِي إِلَى بُغْيَتِي سَرِيعًا عَاجِلًا

wa awsilnee ilaa bughyatee saree'an 'aajilaa

and bring me to my goal swiftly and without delay,

يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

yaa arhamar-raahimeen

O Most Merciful of the merciful.
