On the first night recite a 2 unit prayer with Sura Fatiha and Sura Anam (no 6). One may then pray to Allah(swt) to save him from any terror or pain and to make him live throughout that month peacefully and safely.
Give Sadaqa (charity) for safety throughout the month.
Salah Ru'yatil Hilal - Salah upon Sighting the New Moon
Recite a 2 raka' Salah after sighting the moon (Salah Ruyatil Hilal) of the first night of every lunar month. (or within three days and the earlier the better.)
In the first raka' recite after Sura Fatiha recite Sura Ikhlaas 30 times.
In the second raka' after Sura Fatiha recite Sura Qadr 30 times.
After accomplishment, alms should be given. Whoever offers this prayer each month, will win safety throughout that month. According to other narrations, the following prayer, which is a number of Qur'anic verses, may be said after the accomplishment of the prayer, starting with Ayah 6 of Surah Hud (Chapter 11):
وَمَا مِنْ دَابَّةٍ فِي ٱلارْضِ
wa ma min dabbatin fi al-ardi
And there is no animal in the earth
إِلاَّ عَلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ رِزْقُهَا
illa `ala allahi rizquha
but on Allah is the sustenance of it,
وَيَعْلَمُ مُسْتَقَرَّهَا وَمُسْتَوْدَعَهَا
wa ya`lamu mustaqarraha wa mustawda`aha
and He knows its resting place and its depository.
كُلٌّ فِي كِتَابٍ مُبِينٍ
kullun fi kitabin mubinin
All (things) are in a manifest book.
Ayah 107 of Surah Yunus (Chapter 10)
وَإِنْ يَمْسَسْكَ ٱللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلاَ كَاشِفَ لَهُ إِلاَّ هُوَ
wa in yamsaska allahu bidurrin fala kashifa lahu illa huwa
And if Allah should afflict you with harm, then there is none to remove it but He;
وَإِنْ يُرِدْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَلاَ رَادَّ لِفَضْلِهِ
wa in yuridka bikhayrin fala radda lifadlihi
and if He intends good to you there is none to repel His grace;
يُصِيبُ بِهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ
yusibu bihi man yasha'u min `ibadihi
He brings it to whom He pleases of His servants;
وَهُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
wa huwa alghafuru alrrahimu
and He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
short verses as below:
سَيَجْعَلُ ٱللَّهُ بَعْدَ عُسْرٍ يُسْرًا
sayaj`alu allahu ba`da `usrin yusran
Allah brings about ease after difficulty.
مَا شَاءَ ٱللَّهُ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِٱللَّهِ
ma sha'a allahu, la quwwata illa billahi
Only that which Allah will shall come to pass. There is no power save in Allah.
حَسْبُنَا ٱللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ ٱلْوَكِيلُ
hasbuna allahu wa ni`ma alwakilu
Allah is sufficient for us and most excellent is the Protector.
وَأُفَوِّضُ أَمْرِي إِلَى ٱللَّهِ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَصِيرٌ بِٱلْعِبَادِ
wa ufawwidu amri ila allahi, inna allaha basirun bil`ibadi
And I entrust my affair to Allah. Surely, Allah sees the servants.
لَّا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّالِمِينَ
la ilaha illa anta subhanaka, inni kuntu min alzzalimina
There is no god but You. All glory be to You. Verily, I have been a wrongdoer.
رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ
rabbi inni lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqirun
O Lord, surely I stand in need of whatever good You may send down to me.
رَبِّ لَا تَذَرْنِي فَرْدًا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلْوَارِثِينَ
rabbi la tadharni fardan wa anta khayru alwarithina
O my Lord, leave me not alone; and You are the best of inheritors.
