Recited after the obligatory salat of Maghrib and Isha
4 Rak'ats Magrib Nafilah (2X2) after Maghrib, (2 of which can also be Salaat al-Ghufaylah)Surah al-Kaferoon (No. 109) recited in the first unit and Surah al-Tawhid in the second.
In the third and fourth units, any sura, as in other Nafila ,It is also sufficient to recite Surah al-Fatihah alone in each unit. It is advisable to recite the Surahs with audible voice,
Dua after Nafilah of Maghrib by Imam Hassan (as)Additional Dua after Maghrib Nafilah
يَا شَدِيدَ الْمَحَالِ
Ya shadidal-mahal
O He whose might is severe.
يَا عَزِيزاً ذَلَّلْتَ بِعِزَّتِكَ جَمِيعَ مَا خَلَقْتَ
Ya ‘azizan dhallalta bi-’izzatika jami’a ma khalaqt
O Mighty One, You have humbled all Your creation through Your power.
اكْفِنِي شَرَّ (فُلَانٍ) بِمَا شِئْتَ
Ikfini sharra (fulan) bima shi’t
Protect me from the evil of (name) however You wish.
AFTER MAGHRIB SALAATAfter reciting Tasbih al-Zahra (sa), the following can be recited
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلاَئِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّون عَلَىٰ ٱلنَّبِيِّ
inna allaha wa mala'ikatahu yusalluna `ala alnnabiyyi
“Surely, Allah and His angels bless the Prophet.
يَا أَيُّهَا ٱلَّذينَ آمَنُوٱ صَلُّوٱ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوٱ تَسْليماً
ya ayyuha alladhina amanu sallu `alayhi wa sallimu tasliman
O you who believe! Call for Divine blessings on him and salute him with a becoming salutation.”
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّد ٱلنَّبِيِّ
allahumma salli `ala muhammadin alnnabiyyi
O Allah, send blessings to Muhammad the Prophet,
وَعَلَىٰ ذُرِّيَّتِهِ وَعَلَىٰ أَهلِ بَيْتِهِ
wa `ala dhurriyyatihi wa `ala ahli baytihi
upon his offspring, and upon his Household.
From Imam Moosa al Kazim (a.s) without talking to anyone, say the following 7 times
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَلِيِّ ٱلْعَظيِمِ
wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi al`aliyyi al`azimi
There is neither might nor power save with Allah, the All-high, the All-great.
Then, repeat the following three times:
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذي يَفْعَلُ مَا يَشَاءُ
alhamdu lillahi alladhi yaf`alu ma yasha'u
All praise be to Allah Who does whatever He desires,
وَلاَ يَفْعَلُ مَا يَشَاءُ غَيْرُهُ
wa la yaf`alu ma yasha'u ghayruhu
and none else can ever do whatever one desires save Him.
اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مُوجِبَاتِ رَحْمَتِكَ
allahumma inni as'aluka mujibati rahmatika
O Allah! I beseech You for the motives of Your mercy,
وَعَزَائِمِ مَغْفِرَتِكَ
wa `aza'ima maghfiratika
the determining causes of Your forgiveness,
وَٱلنَّجَاةَ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ وَمِنْ كُلِّ بِلِيَّةٍ
walnnajata mina alnnari wa min kulli baliyyatin
deliverance from Hellfire and all misfortunes,
وَٱلْفَوْزَ بِٱلْجَنَّةِ وَٱلرِّضْوَانِ في دَارِ ٱلسَّلاَمِ
walfawza biljannati walrridwani fi dari alssalami
winning Paradise,Divine Contentment in the Abode of Peace,
وَجَوَارِ نَبِيِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ ٱلسَّلاَمُ
wa jiwari nabiyyika muhammadin `alayhi wa alihi alssalamu
and the vicinity of Your Prophet Muhammad—peace be upon him and his Household.
اَللَّهُمَّ مَا بِنَا مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ فَمِنْكَ
allahumma ma bina min ni`matin faminka
O Allah, You are certainly the source of each and every favor that covers us.
لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ
la ilaha illa anta
There is no god save You.
أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَ أَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ
astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayka
I pray Your forgiveness and I repent before You.
Dia Allahuma Ajirna minan naar (after Maghrib)
اَللّٰهُمَّ أَجِرْنَا مِنَ النَّارِ سَالِمِيْنَ وَ أَدْخِلْنَا الْجَنَّةَ بِسَلَامٍ آمِنِيْنَ
allaahumma ajirnaa minan-naari saalimeen, wa adkhilnal-jannata bi-salaamin aamineen,
O Allah help us to depart from life of this world in safety and save us from fire and make us enter Paradise with peace and safety.
وَ تَوَفَّنا مُسْلِمِيْنَ وَ أَلْحِقْنَا بِالصَّالِحِيْنَ بِفَضْلِكَ وَرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ.
wa tawaffanaa muslimeen, wa alhiqnaa bis-saaliheena bi-fadlika wa rahmatika yaa arhamar-raahimeen.
And make us die in Thy submission and include us with the righteous, I beseech You by Thy grace and mercy on us, Oh Most Merciful of the Merciful! ".
Then, say the following "Subhanaka:
سُبْحَانَكَ لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ
subhanaka la ilaha illa anta
All glory be to You. There is no god save You.
إِغْفِرْ لِي ذُنُوبِي كُلَّهَا جَمِيعاً
ighfir li dhunubi kullaha jami`an
Forgive my sins all in all,
فَإِنَّهُ لاَ يَغْفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ كُلَّهَا جَمِيعاً إِلاَّ أَنْتَ
fa'innahu la yaghfiru aldhdhunuba kullaha jami`an illa anta
for none can forgive all sins save You.
Recite 100 times or 10 times "Laa ilaaha illallaah"
Recite Surah Waqiyah (Quran: 56)
Recite the following verse Quran 30:17/18 three times, for protection from loss and safety from natural calamities.
فَسُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ حِينَ تُمْسُونَ وَحِينَ تُصْبِحُونَ
Fa Subhaanal laahi heena tumsoona wa heena tusbihoon
So glorify Allah when you enter evening and when you rise at dawn.
وَلَهُ ٱلْحَمْدُ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَعَشِيًّا وَحِينَ تُظْهِرُونَ
Wa lahul hamdu fis samaawaati wal ardi wa 'ashiyyanw wa heena
To Him belongs all praise in the heavens and the earth, at nightfall and when you enter noontime.
اَللّٰهُمَّ مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوْبِ وَ الْأَبْصَارِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلىٰ دِيْنِكَ
Allahumma muqallibal-quloobi wal-absaar, thabbit qalbee ‘alaa deenik.
“O Allah, Controller of hearts and eyes, keep my heart firm on Your religion.”
وَ لَا تُزِغْ قَلْبِي بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنِي وَ هَبْ لِي مِنْ لَّدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ
Wa laa tuzigh qalbee ba’da idh hadaytanee wahab lee min ladunka rahmatan innaka antal-wahhaab.
“Do not let my heart go astray after You have guided me. Grant me mercy from Yourself. Truly, You are the Bestower.”
وَ أَجِرْنِي مِنَ النَّارِ بِرَحْمَتِكَ
Wa ajirnee minan-naar bi-rahmatika.
“By Your mercy, protect me from the Fire.”
اَللّٰهُمَّ امْدُدْ لِي فِيْ عُمُرِي وَ اَوْسِعْ عَليَّ فِيْ رِزْقِي وَانْشُرْ عَلَيَّ رَحْمَتَكَ
Allahumma amdud lee fee ‘umree wa awsi’ ‘alayya fee rizqee wanshur ‘alayya rahmatak.
“O Allah, give me a long life, increase my provision, and cover me with Your mercy.”
وَ إِنْ كُنْتُ عِنْدَكَ فِي أُمِّ الْكِتَابِ شَقِيًّا فَاجْعَلْنِي سَعِيْدًا
Wa in kunta ‘indaka fee ummil-kitaabi shaqeeyyan faj’alnee sa’eeda.
“And if, in Your record, I am written as unhappy, then change it to happiness.”
فَإِنَّكَ تَمْحُوْ مَا تَشَاءُ وَ تُثْبِتُ وَ عِنْدَكَ أُمُّ الْكِتَاب
Fa innaka tamhoo ma tashaao wa tuthbito wa ‘indaka ummul-kitaab.
“For You erase what You will, and You affirm what You will. With You is the Master Record.”
Imam Ja`far al-Sadiq(peace be upon him) is also reported to have said that one who desires to enjoy both the worldly life and the Next World, and one who has eye ache, should say the following prayer after the Dawn and Sunset Prayers:
اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّد وَآلِ مُحَمَّد عَلَيْكَ
allahumma inni as'aluka bihaqqi muhammadin wa ali muhammadin `alayka
O Allah, I do beseech You, in the name of the right of Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad that is incumbent upon You
صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّد وَآلِ مُحَمَّد
salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
to send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
وَٱجْعَلِ ٱلنُّورَ فِي بَصَرِي
waj`al alnnura fi basari
and to give light to my insight,
وَٱلْبَصِيـرَةَ فِي دِينِي
walbasirata fi dini
make me discerning in my religion,
وَٱلْيَقِيـنَ فِي قَلْبِي
wal-yaqina fi qalbi
have conviction in my heart,
وَٱلإِخْلاَصَ فِي عَمَلِي
wal-ikhlasa fi `amali
sincerity in my deeds,
وَٱلسَّلاَمَةَ فِي نَفْسِي
walssalamata fi nafsi
safety in my self,
وَٱلسَّعَةَ فِي رِزْقِي
walssa`ata fi rizqi
vastness in my sustenance,
وَٱلشُّكْرَ لَكَ أَبَداً مَا أَبْقَيْتَنِي
walshshukra laka abadan ma abqaytani
and perpetual thankfulness for You as long as you keep me alive.
Five short duas after Maghrib Salaat (ref. Nafilah)
Imam Sadiq (as) dua after Magrib - recite 10 times
أَسْتَعِيذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ اكْتُبَا رَحِمَكُمَا اللَّهُ
Astaa‘eedhu billaahi minash-shaytaani r-rajeem, uktubaa rahimakumallaah.
"I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. Write me as one of those whom You have shown mercy to, " Then say
أَمْسَيْتُ وَأَصْبَحْتُ بِاللَّهِ مُؤْمِنًا عَلَى دِينِ مُحَمَّدٍ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ) وَسُنَّتِهِ
Amsaytu wa-aṣbaḥtu bi-llāhi mu’minan ‘alā dīni Muḥammadin (ṣallā Allāhu ‘alayhi wa-ālih) wa-sunnatih.
I ended my evening and began my morning as a believer in Allah, upon the religion of Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) and his tradition.
وَعَلَى دِينِ عَلِيٍّ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ) وَسُنَّتِهِ وَعَلَى دِينِ فَاطِمَةَ (عَلَيْهَا السَّلَامُ) وَسُنَّتِهَا
Wa-‘alā dīni ‘Aliyyin (‘alayhi as-salām) wa-sunnatih, wa-‘alā dīni Fāṭimata (‘alayhā as-salām) wa-sunnatihā.
And upon the religion of ʿAlī (peace be upon him) and his tradition, and upon the religion of Fāṭimah (peace be upon her) and her tradition.
وَعَلَى دِينِ الْأَوْصِيَاءِ صَلَوَاتُ اللهِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَسُنَنِهِمْ
Wa-‘alā dīni al-awṣiyā’i ṣalawātu Allāhi ‘alayhim wa-sunanihim.
And upon the religion of the Successors, may Allah’s blessings be upon them, and their traditions.
آمَنْتُ بِسِرِّهِمْ وَعَلَانِيَتِهِمْ وَبِغَيْبِهِمْ وَشَهَادَتِهِمْ
Āmantu bisirrihim wa-‘alāniyyatihim wa-bighaybihim wa-shahādatihim.
I believe in their secrets and their openness, in their unseen and their witnessed presence.
وَأَسْتَعِيذُ بِاللَّهِ فِي لَيْلَتِي هَذِهِ وَيَوْمِي هَذَا
Wa-asta‘īdhū bi-llāhi fī laylatī hādhihi wa-yawmī hādhā.
And I seek refuge in Allah during this night of mine and this day of mine.
مِمَّا اسْتَعَاذَ مِنْهُ مُحَمَّدٌ وَعَلِيٌّ وَفَاطِمَةُ وَالْأَوْصِيَاءُ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِمْ
Mimmā ista‘ādha minhu Muḥammadun wa-‘Aliyyun wa-Fāṭimatu wa-l-awṣiyā’u ṣallā Allāhu ‘alayhim.
From that which Muhammad, ʿAlī, Fāṭimah, and the Successors (peace be upon them) sought refuge from.
وَأَرْغَبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ فِيمَا رَغِبُوا فِيهِ
Wa-arghabu ilā Allāhi fīmā raghibū fīhi.
And I desire from Allah what they desired.
وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ
Wa-lā ḥawla wa-lā quwwata illā bi-llāh.
And there is no power and no strength except through Allah.
Imam Ali (as) dua after Maghrib
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي يُولِجُ اللَّيْلَ فِي النَّهَارِ
al-hamdu lil-laahil-ladhee yoolijul-layla feen-nahaar
Praise be to Allah Who merges the night into the day,
وَ يُولِجُ النَّهَارَ فِي اللَّيْلِ
wa yoolijun-nahaara feel-layl
and merges the day into the night.
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كُلَّمَا وَقَبَ لَيْلٌ وَ غَسَقَ
al-hamdu lil-laahi kullamaa waqaba layluw-wa ghasaq
Praise be to Allah whenever night sets in and darkness gathers,
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كُلَّمَا لَاحَ نَجْمٌ وَ خَفَقَ
wal-hamdu lil-laahi kullamaa laaha najmuw-wa khafaq
and praise be to Allah whenever a star appears and sets.
Protection from Theft
أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللَّهِ وَأَعُوذُ بِقُدْرَةِ اللَّهِ
A’udhu bi-‘izzatillahi wa a’udhu bi-qudratillah
I seek refuge in the Glory of Allah, and I seek refuge in the Power of Allah.
وَأَعُوذُ بِمَغْفِرَةِ اللَّهِ وَأَعُوذُ بِرَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ
Wa a’udhu bi-maghfiratillahi wa a’udhu bi-rahmatillah
I seek refuge in the Forgiveness of Allah, and I seek refuge in the Mercy of Allah.
وَأَعُوذُ بِسُلْطَانِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي هُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Wa a’udhu bi-sultanillahil-ladhi huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadir
I seek refuge in the Authority of Allah, who has power over all things.
وَأَعُوذُ بِكَرَمِ اللَّهِ وَأَعُوذُ بِجَمْعِ اللَّهِ
Wa a’udhu bi-karamillahi wa a’udhu bi-jam’illah
I seek refuge in the Generosity of Allah, and I seek refuge in the Protection of Allah.
مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ وَشَيْطَانٍ مَرِيدٍ
Min sharri kulli jabbarin ‘anidin wa shaytanin marid
From the evil of every obstinate tyrant and rebellious devil.
وَكُلِّ مُغْتَالٍ وَسَارِقٍ وَعَارِضٍ
Wa kulli mughtalin wa sariqin wa ‘arid
And from every assassin, thief, and sudden affliction.
وَمِنْ شَرِّ السَّامَّةِ وَالْهَامَّةِ والْعَامَّةِ
Wa min sharr-is-sammati wal-hammati wal-‘ammah
From the evil of poisonous pests, creeping insects, and the common folk.
وَمِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ دَابَّةٍ صَغِيرَةٍ أَوْ كَبِيرَةٍ بِلَيْلٍ أَوْ نَهَارٍ
Wa min sharri kulli dabbatin saghiratin aw kabiratin bi-laylin aw nahar
From the evil of every creature, small or large, by night or by day.
وَمِنْ شَرِّ فُسَّاقِ الْعَرَبِ وَالْعَجَمِ وَفُجَّارِهِمْ
Wa min sharri fussaqil-‘arabi wal-‘ajami wa fujjarihim
From the evil of the wicked among Arabs and non-Arabs, and their transgressors.
وَمِنْ شَرِّ فَسَقَةِ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنْسِ
Wa min sharri fasaqatil-jinni wal-ins
From the evil of the transgressors among Jinn and mankind.
وَمِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ دَابَّةٍ رَبِّي آخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِهَا
Wa min sharri kulli dabbatin rabbi akhidhun bi-nasiyatiha
From the evil of every creature whose forelock my Lord holds.
إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ
Inna rabbi ‘ala siratin mustaqim
Indeed, my Lord is on a straight path.
After Isha - nāfilah Isha: (recommended supererogatory prayer) of ʿishāʾ consists of two rakʿahs performed while sitting, which are counted as one rakʿah based on obligatory precaution. Also, it is recommended to recite Surah al-Waqi`ah (No. 56) in the first unit and Surah al-Tawhid in the second.
Imam Hassan Askari(as) has recommended recite Salwaat 100 times for any need after the Isha Nafila
Recite Surah Mulk (Quran: 67)
Recite Surah al-Qadr (No. 97 - Inna an-zalna) ) seven times after Isha prayer. It has been reported from Imam Mohammed Baqir (as), that one who does so will be in the guarantee (security) of Allah (swt) until the morning.
After Isha, offer 2 Rakat Salat. (from Imam Sadiq (as) quoted by Abdur Rahman)
Then put your right cheek on the earth and say: (Recite this for 3 nights for relief)
يَا مُذِلَّ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ وَمُعِزَّ كُلِّ ذَليلٍ قَدْ وَحَقِّكَ بَلِّغْ مَجْهُودِي
ya mudhill kull jabbar wamueizz kull dhalyl qad wahaqqik balligh majhudi
O You who humbles every tyrant and exalts every lowly one, by Your right, grant me my utmost effort.
Duas after Isha Salaat
This supplication reported from Imam Ja'far Sadiq (peace be upon him) , is one of the supplications highly recommended for seeking sustenance.(Rizq)
اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ لِي عِلْمٌ بِمَوْضِعِ رِزْقِي
allahumma innahu laysa li `ilmun bimawadi`i rizqi
O Allah! verily, I lack acquaintance with the place of my sustenance;
وَإِنَّمَا أَطْلُبُهُ بِخَطَرَاتٍ تَخْطُرُ عَلَىٰ قَلْبِي
wa innma atlubuhu bikhataratin takhturu `ala qalbi
rather, I am seeking it owing to ideas that come upon my mind.
فَأَجُولُ فِي طَلَبِهِ ٱلْبُلْدَانَ
fa-ajulu fi talabihu albuldana
I consequently wander in countries searching for it.
فَأَنَا فِيمَا أَنَا طَالِبٌ كَٱلْحَيْرَانِ
fa-ana fima ana talibun kalhayrani
By doing such, I am as confused as the confounded,
لاَ أَدْرِي أَفِي سَهْلٍ هَوُ أَمْ فِي جَبَلٍ
la adri afi sahlin huwa am fi jabalin
since I do not know whether my sustenance lies in a plain, on a mountain,
أَمْ في أَرْضٍ أَمْ في سَمَاءٍ
am fi ardin am fi sama'in
on the ground, in the air,
أَمْ فِي بَرٍّ أَمْ فِي بَحْرٍ
am fi barrin am fi bahrin
on lands, in seas,
وَعَلَىٰ يَدَيْ مَنْ
wa `ala yaday man
at whose hands,
وَمِنْ قِبَلِ مَنْ
wa min qibali man
or who the source of it is.
وَقَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّ عِلْمَهُ عِنْدَكَ
wa qad `alimtu anna `ilmahu `indaka
I have full knowledge that You know all these,
وَ أَسْبَابَهُ بِيَدِكَ
wa asbabahu biyadika
the causes of them are in Your Hands,
وَ أَنْتَ ٱلَّذي تَقْسِمُهُ بِلُطْفِكَ
wa anta alladhi taqsimuhu bilutfika
and it is You Who distribute it out of Your compassion
وَتُسَبِّبُهُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ
wa tusabbibuhu birahmatika
and cause it out of Your mercy.
اَللَّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ
allahumma fasalli `ala muhammadin wa alihi
O Allah, please send blessings to Muhammad and his Household
وَٱجْعَلْ يَا رَبِّ رِزْقَكَ لِي وَاسِعاً
waj`al ya rabbi rizqaka li wasi`an
and make, O Lord, Your sustenance that is provided (by You) to me expansive,
وَمَطْلَبَهُ سَهْلاً
wa matlabahu sahlan
my seeking for it easy for me,
وَمَاْخَذَهُ قَرِيباً
wa ma'khadhahu qariban
and its source close to me.
وَلاَ تُعَنِّنِي بِطَلَبِ مَا لَمْ تُقَدِّرْ لِي فيهِ رِزْقاً
wa la tu`annini bitalbi ma lam tuqaddiru li fihi rizqan
Please, do not fatigue me by seeking that which You have not decided for me to take,
فَإِنَّكَ غَنِيٌّ عَنْ عَذَابِي
fa'innaka ghaniyyun `an `adhabi
because You are certainly in no need for tormenting me
وَ أَنَا فَقِيـرٌ إِلَىٰ رَحْمَتِكَ
wa ana faqirun ila rahmatika
while I am in full need for Your mercy.
فَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ
fasalli `ala muhammadin wa alihi
(Please) Send blessings upon Muhammad and his Household
وَجُدْ عَلَىٰ عَبْدِكَ بِفَضْلِكَ
wa jud `ala `abdika bifadlika
and confer liberally upon me, Your slave, out of Your graciousness.
إِنَّكَ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَظيم
innaka dhu fadlin `azimin
You are surely the Lord of great favor.
Dua from Imam Hassan(as): Protect your wealth and your family with this prayer, and say it after the last night prayer (isha).
أُعِيذُ نَفْسِي وَذُرِّيَّتِي وَأَهْلَ بَيْتِي
U’idhu nafsi wa dhurriyati wa ahla bayti
I seek protection for myself, my offspring, and my household.
وَمَالِي بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ
Wa mali bi-kalimat-illah-it-tammat
And for my wealth, by the perfect words of Allah.
مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ
Min kulli shaytanin wa hammatin
From every devil and poisonous pest.
وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ
Wa min kulli ‘aynin lammah
And from every envious, evil eye.
وهي العوذة الَّتِي عَوَّذَ بِهَا جَبْرَائِيلُ الْحَسَنَ وَالْحُسَيْنَ
Wa hiyal ‘uudhat-ul-lati ‘awwadha biha Jabra’ilul-Hasana wal-Husayn
And this is the refuge with which Gabriel protected Hasan and Husayn.
اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ ٱلسَّبْعِ وَمَا اظَلَّتْ
allahumma rabba alssamawati alssab`i wa ma azallat
O Allah, O Lord of the seven skies and whatever they shade,
وَرَبَّ ٱلارَضِينَ ٱلسَّبْعِ وَمَا اقَلَّتْ
wa rabba al-aradina alssab`i wa ma aqallat
Lord of the seven layers of the earth and whatever they carry,
وَرَبَّ ٱلشَّيَاطِينِ وَمَا اضَلَّتْ
wa rabba alshshayatini wa ma adallat
Lord of the devils and whatever they mislead,
وَرَبَّ ٱلرِّيَاحِ وَمَا ذَرَتْ
wa rabba alrriyahi wa ma dharat
and Lord of the winds and whatever they winnow!
اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
allahumma rabba kulli shay'in
O Allah, O Lord of all things,
وَإِلٰهَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
wa ilaha kulli shay'in
God of all things,
وَمَلِيكَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
wa malika kulli shay'in
and Possessor of all things!
انْتَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُقْتَدِرُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
anta allahu almuqtadiru `ala kulli shay'in
You are Allah, the Omnipotent over all things.
انْتَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلاوَّلُ فَلاَ شَيْءَ قَبْلَكَ
anta allahu al-awwalu fala shay'a qablaka
You are Allah the Foremost; there is thus nothing before You.
وَانْتَ ٱلآخِرُ فَلاَ شَيْءَ بَعْدَكَ
wa anta al-akhiru fala shay'a ba`daka
You are the Last; there is thus nothing after You.
وَانْتَ ٱلظَّاهِرُ فَلاَ شَيْءَ فَوْقَكَ
wa anta alzzahiru fala shay'a fawqaka
You are the Ascendant; there is thus nothing above You.
وَانْتَ ٱلْبَاطِنُ فَلاَ شَيْءَ دُونَكَ
wa anta albatinu fala shay'a dunaka
You are the Inward; there is thus nothing concealed from You.
رَبَّ جَبْرَائِيلَ وَمِيكَائِيلَ وَإِسْرَافِيلَ
rabba jabra'ila wa mika'ila wa israfila
O Lord of Gabriel, Michael, and Seraph!
وَإِلٰهَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ
wa ilaha ibrahima wa isma`ila
O God of Abraham, Ishmael,
وَإِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَٱلاسْبَاطِ
wa ishaqa wa ya`quba wal-asbati
Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes!
اسْالُكَ انْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
as'aluka an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
I beseech You to send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
وَانْ تَوَلاَّنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ
wa an tawallani birahmatika
to oversee me with Your mercy
وَلاَ تُسَلِّطْ عَلَيَّ احَداً مِنْ خَلْقِكَ
wa la tusallit `alayya ahadan min khalqika
and not to give any of Your creatures power over me
مِمَّنْ لاَ طَاقَةَ لِي بِهِ
mimman la taqata li bihi
that I cannot stand.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اتَحَبَّبُ إِلَيْكَ فَحَبِّبْنِي
allahumma inni atahabbabu ilayka fahabbibni
O Allah, I am endearing myself to You; so (please) endear me to the others,
وَفِي ٱلنَّاسِ فَعَزِّزْنِي
wa fi alnnasi fa`azzizni
create affection for me among people,
وَمِنْ شَرِّ شَّيَاطِينِ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلإِنْسِ فَسَلِّمْنِي
wa min sharri shshayatini aljinn wal-insi fasallimni
and keep me sound from the evil of the devils of jinn and men,
يَا رَبَّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
ya rabba al`alamina
O Lord of the Worlds,
وَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ
wa salli `ala muhammadin wa alihi
and bless Muhammad and his Household.
Salat 2 Rakat:
In first Rakat Surah Hamd, Aytaul Kursi and Surah Kaferoon In second Rakat Surah Hamd and 30 times Surah Ikhlass
then Raise your hands and say the following, thereafter Ask for your needs
اَللّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ يَا مَنْ لَا تَرَاهُ الْعُيُونُ وَلَا تُخَالِطُهُ الظُّنُونُ
Allahumma inni as'aluka yaa man laa tarahu al-'uyoonu wa laa tukhaalituhu ath-thunoonu
O Allah, I ask You, O One whom eyes cannot see, and thoughts cannot perceive.
وَلَا يَصِفُهُ الْوَاصِفُونَ
Wa laa yasifuhu alwaasifoon
And whom describers cannot describe.
يَا مَنْ لَا تُغَيِّرُهُ الدُّهُورُ وَلَا تُبْلِيهِ الْأَزْمِنَةُ وَلَا تَحْمِلُهُ الْأُمُورُ
Yaa man laa taghayyiruhu adduhooru wa laa tublihi alazminatu wa laa tahmiluhu alumooru
O One whom time does not change, nor do ages wear out, nor is He burdened by matters.
يَا مَنْ لَا يَذُوقُ الْمَوْتَ وَلَا يَخَافُ الْفَوْتَ
Yaa man laa yadhooq almawta wa laa yakhaafu alfawta
O One who does not taste death and does not fear loss.
يَا مَنْ لَا تَضُرُّهُ الذُّنُوبُ وَلَا تَنْقُصُهُ الْمَغْفِرَةُ
Yaa man laa tadhurruhu adhdhunoobu wa laa tanqusu almaghfirah
O One whom sins do not harm, nor does forgiveness diminish Him.
صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ
Salli 'ala Muhammad wa aalihi
Send blessings upon Muhammad and his family.
وَهَبْ لِي مَا لَا يَنْقُصُكَ وَاغْفِرْ لِي مَا لَا يَضُرُّكَ وَافْعَلْ بِي مَا أَنْتَ أَهْلُهُ
Wahab li ma laa yanqusuq wa ighfir li ma laa yadhurruq wa af'al bi ma anta ahluh
Grant me what does not diminish You, forgive me for what does not harm You, and deal with me as You are worthy.
Dua after Isha Salaat: Allaahumma A’afinaa
اَللّٰهُمَّ عَافِنَا مِنْ كُلِّ بَلَاءِ الدُّنْيَا
Allahumma ‘afina min kulli bala’id-dunya
O Allah, grant us well-being from every affliction of this world.
وَاصْرِفْ عَنَّا شَرَّ الدُّنْيَا وَ شَرَّ الْآخِرَةِ
Wasrif ‘anna sharrad-dunya wa sharral-akhirah
And turn away from us the evil of this world and the evil of the hereafter.
وَارْزُقْنَا خَيْرَ الدُّنْيَا وَ خَيْرَ الْآخِرَةِ
Warzuqna khayrad-dunya wa khayral-akhirah
And provide us with the good of this world and the good of the hereafter.
بِفَضْلِكَ وَ رَحْمَتِكَ يَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
Bi-fadlika wa rahmatika ya arhamar-rahimin
By Your grace and Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
Dua after Isha Salaat: Allhumma haza salati
اَللّٰهُمَّ هٰذِهٖ صَلَاتِي صَلَّيْتُهَا لَا لِحَاجَةٍ مِنْكَ إِلَيْهَا
Allahumma hadhihi salati sallaytuha la li-hajatin minka ilayha
O Allah, this is my prayer which I have offered, not because of any need You have for it,
وَ لَا رَغْبَةٍ مِنْكَ فِيْهَا إِلَّا تَعْظِيمًا وَ طَاعَةً
Wa la raghbatin minka fiha illa ta’dhiman wa ta’atan
Nor because of any desire You have for it, but only to glorify You and out of obedience,
وَ إِجَابَةً لَّكَ إِلىٰ مَا أَمَرْتَنِي
Wa ijabatan laka ila ma amartani
And in response to what You have commanded me.
إِلَهِي إِنْ كَانَ فِيْهَا خَلَلٌ أَوْ نَقْصٌ
Ilahi in kana fiha khalalun aw naqsun
My God, if there is any flaw or deficiency in it,
مِنْ رُكُوْعِهَا أَوْ سُجُوْدِهَا أَوْ قِيَامِهَا أَوْ قُعُوْدِهَا
Min ruku’iha aw sujudiha aw qiyamiha aw qu’udiha
In its bowing, its prostration, its standing, or its sitting,
فَلَا تُؤَاخِذْنِي وَ تَفَضَّلْ عَلَيَّ بِالْقَبُوْلِ وَ الْغُفْرَانِ
Fala tu’akhidhni wa tafaddal ‘alayya bil-qabuli wal-ghufrani
Then do not hold me accountable, and favor me with acceptance and forgiveness,
بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
Bi-rahmatika ya arhamar-rahimin
By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
Dua after Isha Salaat: A'ooza be'izzatil-lahe
أَعُوْذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوْذُ بِقُدْرَةِ اللَّه
A’udhu bi-‘izzatillahi wa a’udhu bi-qudratillah
I seek refuge in the Glory of Allah, and I seek refuge in the Power of Allah.
وَ أَعُوْذُ بِمَغْفِرَةِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوْذُ بِرَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ
Wa a’udhu bi-maghfiratillahi wa a’udhu bi-rahmatillah
I seek refuge in the Forgiveness of Allah, and I seek refuge in the Mercy of Allah.
وَ أَعُوْذُ بِسُلْطَانِ اللَّهِ الَّذِيْ هُوَ عَلىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ
Wa a’udhu bi-sultanillahil-ladhi huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadir
I seek refuge in the Authority of Allah, who has power over all things.
وَ أَعُوْذُ بِكَرَمِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوْذُ بِجَمْعِ اللَّهِ
Wa a’udhu bi-karamillahi wa a’udhu bi-jam’illah
I seek refuge in the Generosity of Allah, and I seek refuge in the Protection of Allah.
مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيْدٍ وَ شَيْطَانٍ مَرِيْدٍ
Min sharri kulli jabbarin ‘anidin wa shaytanin marid
From the evil of every obstinate tyrant and rebellious devil.
وَ كُلِّ مُغْتَالٍ وَ سَارِقٍ وَ عَارِضٍ
Wa kulli mughtalin wa sariqin wa ‘arid
And from every assassin, thief, and sudden affliction.
وَ مِنْ شَرِّ السَّامَّةِ وَ الْهَامَّةِ وَ الْعَامَّةِ
Wa min sharr-is-sammati wal-hammati wal-‘ammah
From the evil of poisonous pests, creeping insects, and the common folk.
وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ دَابَّةٍ صَغِيْرَةٍ وَ كَبِيْرَةٍ بِلَيْلٍ أَوْ نَهَارٍ
Wa min sharri kulli dabbatin saghiratin wa kabiratin bi-laylin aw nahar
From the evil of every creature, small or large, by night or by day.
وَ مِنْ شَرِّ فُسَّاقِ الْعَرَبِ وَ الْعَجَمِ وَ فُجَّارِهِمْ
Wa min sharri fussaqil-‘arabi wal-‘ajami wa fujjarihim
From the evil of the wicked among Arabs and non-Arabs, and their transgressors.
وَ مِنْ شَرِّ فَسَقَةِ الْجِنِّ وَ الْإِنْسِ
Wa min sharri fasaqatil-jinni wal-ins
From the evil of the transgressors among Jinn and mankind.
وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ دَابَّةٍ رَبِّي آخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِهَا
Wa min sharri kulli dabbatin rabbi akhidhun bi-nasiyatiha
From the evil of every creature whose forelock my Lord holds.
إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيْمٍ
Inna rabbi ‘ala siratin mustaqim
Indeed, my Lord is on a straight path.
Dua after Isha Salaat: Dua after Isha Salaat: Allaahumma A’afinaa
اَللّٰهُمَّ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
Allāhumma bi-ḥaqqi Muḥammadin wa āli Muḥammad
O Allah, by the right of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,
صَلِّ عَلىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
Ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa āli Muḥammad
Send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.
وَ لَا تُؤْمِنَّا مَكْرَكَ وَ لَا تُنْسِنَا ذِكْرَكَ
Wa lā tu’minnā makraka wa lā tunsinā dhikrak
And do not make us feel secure from Your plan, nor make us forget Your remembrance,
وَ لَا تَكْشِفْ عَنَّا سِتْرَكَ
Wa lā takshif ‘annā sitrak
And do not remove from us Your covering.
وَ لَا تَحْرِمْنَا فَضْلَكَ وَ لَا تُحِلَّ عَلَيْنَا غَضَبَكَ
Wa lā taḥrimnā faḍlaka wa lā tuḥilla ‘alaynā ghaḍabak
And do not deprive us of Your فضل, nor unleash upon us Your anger,
وَ لَا تُبَاعِدْنَا مِنْ جِوَارِكَ وَ لَا تَنْقُصْنَا مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ
Wa lā tubā‘idnā min jiwārika wa lā tanquṣnā min raḥmatik
And do not distance us from Your nearness, nor reduce for us Your mercy.
وَ لَا تَنْزِعْ مِنَّا بَرَكَتَكَ وَ لَا تَمْنَعْنَا عَافِيَتَكَ
Wa lā tanzi‘ minnā barakataka wa lā tamna‘nā ‘āfiyatak
And do not take away from us Your blessings, nor withhold from us Your well-being,
وَ أَصْلِحْ لَنَا مَا أَعْطَيْتَنَا
Wa aṣliḥ lanā mā a‘ṭaytanā
And set right for us what You have given us.
وَ زِدْنَا مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْمُبَارَكِ الطَّيِّبِ
Wa zidnā min faḍlika al-mubāraki aṭ-ṭayyib
And increase us from Your blessed and pure bounty,
الْحَسَنِ الْجَمِيْلِ
Al-ḥasani al-jamīl
That which is good and beautiful,
وَ لَا تُغَيِّرْ مَا بِنَا مِنْ نِعْمَتِكَ
Wa lā tughayyir mā binā min ni‘matik
And do not change what we have of Your favor,
وَ لَا تُؤْيِسْنَا مِنْ رَوْحِكَ
Wa lā tu’yisnā min rawḥik
And do not make us despair of Your relief,
وَ لَا تُهِنَّا بَعْدَ كَرَامَتِكَ
Wa lā tuhinna ba‘da karāmatik
And do not humiliate us after honoring us.
وَ لَا تُضِلَّنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا
Wa lā tuḍillanā ba‘da idh hadaytanā
And do not let us go astray after You have guided us,
وَ هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً
Wa hab lanā min ladunka raḥmah
And grant us mercy from Yourself,
إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ
Innaka anta al-wahhāb
Surely, You are the Bestower.
اَللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْ قُلُوبَنَا سَالِمَةً وَ أَرْوَاحَنَا طَيِّبَةً
Allāhumma ij‘al qulūbanā sālimah wa arwāḥanā ṭayyibah
O Allah, make our hearts sound and our souls pure,
وَ أَزْوَاجَنَا مُطَهَّرَةً وَ أَلْسِنَتَنَا صَادِقَةً
Wa azwājanā muṭahharah wa alsinatanā ṣādiqah
And our spouses purified and our tongues truthful,
وَ إِيْمَانَنَا دَائِمًا وَ يَقِينَنَا صَادِقًا
Wa īmānanā dā’iman wa yaqīnanā ṣādiqan
And our faith constant and our certainty sincere,
وَ تِجَارَتَنَا لَا تَبُورُ
Wa tijāratanā lā tabūr
And our trade never failing.
اللَّهُمَّ آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً
Allāhumma ātinā fī ad-dunyā ḥasanah
O Allah, grant us good in this world,
وَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً
Wa fī al-ākhirati ḥasanah
And good in the Hereafter,
وَ قِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Wa qinā ‘adhāba an-nār
And protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
From Sahifa Mahdi (ajtfs) :Imam Sadiq (as) in the book "Jamaali Saliheen" said:
among our rights on the Shi'a is to place their hands on their chin after the obligatory prayers and recite the following three times:
يَا رَبَّ مُحَمَّدٍ عَجِّلْ فَرَجَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
Yā rabba Muḥammadin ‘ajjil faraja āli Muḥammad
O Lord of Muhammad, hasten the relief of the family of Muhammad,
يَا رَبَّ مُحَمَّدٍ إِحْفَظْ غَيْبَةَ مُحَمَّدٍ
Yā rabba Muḥammadin iḥfaẓ ghaybata Muḥammad
O Lord of Muhammad, protect the occultation of Muhammad,
يَا رَبَّ مُحَمَّدٍ إِنْتَقِمْ لِابْنَةِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ
Yā rabba Muḥammadin intaqim li-bintati Muḥammad ‘alayhimā as-salām
O Lord of Muhammad, avenge the daughter of Muhammad, peace be upon them both.
It was reported that who ever offer this supplication after Isha and persist in it, will leave until he become weary of life and will be honoured to meet with the leader of the time (may Allah hasten his reappearance):
أَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
Allāhumma ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa āli Muḥammad
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.
أَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ رَسُولَكَ الصَّادِقَ الْمُصَدَّقَ صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
Allāhumma inna rasūlaka aṣ-ṣādiqa al-muṣaddaqa ṣalawātuka ‘alayhi wa ālih
O Allah, indeed Your truthful and affirmed Messenger—Your blessings be upon him and his family—
قَالَ إِنَّكَ قُلْتَ مَا تَرَدَّدْتُ فِي شَيْءٍ أَنَا فَاعِلُهُ
Qāla innaka qulta mā taraddadtu fī shay’in anā fā‘iluh
Said that You have said: “I do not hesitate in anything I do,
كَتَرَدُّدِي فِي قَبْضِ رُوحِ عَبْدِيَ الْمُؤْمِنِ
Ka-taraddudī fī qabḍi rūḥi ‘abdī al-mu’min
Like My hesitation in taking the soul of My believing servant,
يَكْرَهُ الْمَوْتَ وَأَنَا أَكْرَهُ مَسَاءَتَهُ
Yakrahu al-mawta wa anā akrahu masā’atah
He dislikes death, and I dislike causing him distress.”
أَللَّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
Allāhumma fa-ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa āli Muḥammad
O Allah, then send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,
وَعَجِّلْ لِوَلِيِّكَ الْفَرَجَ وَالنَّصْرَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ
Wa ‘ajjil li-waliyyika al-faraja wan-naṣra wal-‘āfiyah
And hasten for Your representative relief, victory, and well-being,
وَلَا تَسُؤْنِي فِي نَفْسِي وَلَا فِي فُلَانٍ
Wa lā tasu’nī fī nafsī wa lā fī fulān
And do not cause me distress regarding myself nor regarding so-and-so.
Dua after Isha Salaat: Allahumma inni as'aluka sabran jameelan
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ صَبْرًا جَمِيلًا، وَأَجْرًا عَظِيمًا
Allāhumma innī as’aluka ṣabran jamīlan wa ajran ‘aẓīman
O Allah, I ask You for beautiful patience and a عظيم reward,
وَتَوْبَةً نَصُوحًا، وَلِسَانًا ذَاكِرًا، وَبَدَنًا حَلِيمًا
Wa tawbatan naṣūḥan wa lisānan dhākiran wa badan ḥalīman
And sincere repentance, a remembering tongue, and a forbearing body,
وَرِزْقًا مَزِيدًا، وَعِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَعَمَلًا صَالِحًا
Wa rizqan mazīdan wa ‘ilman nāfi‘an wa ‘amalan ṣāliḥan
And increased provision, beneficial knowledge, and righteous deeds,
وَدُعَاءً مُسْتَجَابًا، وَذَنْبًا مَغْفُورًا، وَرِزْقًا صَادِقًا
Wa du‘ā’an mustajāban wa dhanban maghfūran wa rizqan ṣādiqan
And a supplication that is answered, sins forgiven, and true provision,
وَذُرِّيَّةً صَالِحَةً، وَشِفَاءً شَافِيًا، وَمَصِيرًا مُبَارَكًا
Wa dhurriyyatan ṣāliḥah wa shifā’an shāfiyan wa maṣīran mubārakan
And righteous offspring, complete healing, and a blessed end,
وَنَصْرًا قَرِيبًا، وَنَعِيمًا دَائِمًا، وَالْجَنَّةَ
Wa naṣran qarīban wa na‘īman dā’iman wal-jannah
And near victory, lasting bliss, and Paradise,
وَالْحَرِيرَ، وَالنَّضَارَةَ، وَالسُّرُورَ
Wal-ḥarīr wan-naḍārah was-surūr
And silk, radiance, and joy,
بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Bi-raḥmatika yā arḥama ar-rāḥimīn
By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اسْالُكَ بِإِقْبَالِ لَيْلِكَ
allahumma inni as'aluka bi'iqbali laylika
O Allah, I beseech You in the name of the coming of Your night,
وَإِدْبَارِ نَهَارِكَ
wa idbari naharika
the departure of Your daylight,
وَحُضُورِ صَلَوَاتِكَ
wa huduri salawatika
the presence of Your prayers,
وَاصْوَاتِ دُعَاتِكَ
wa aswati du`atika
the voices of Your supplicants,
وَتَسْبِيحِ مَلاَئِكَتِكَ
wa tasbihi mala'ikatika
and the glorification of Your angels,
انْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
to send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
وَانْ تَتُوْبَ عَلَيَّ
wa an tatuba `alayya
and to accept my repentance.
إِنَّكَ انْتَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
innaka anta alttawwabu alrrahimu
You are verily, the Oft-Returning, the Most Merciful
Recite 4 Rak'ats Magrib Nafilah (2X2) after Maghrib, (2 of which can also be Ghufaylah)
Surah al-Kaferoon (No. 109) recited in the first unit and Surah al-Tawhid in the second.
In the third and fourth units,any sura
As in other Nafila ,It is also sufficient to recite Surah al-Fatihah alone in each unit. It is advisable to recite the Surahs with audible voice,
It is also recommended to repeat the following prayer seven times in the last prostration (sajdah) of all nafila prayers each night, especially at the night before Friday):
اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اسْالُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ ٱلْكَرِيـمِ
allahumma inni as'aluka biwajhika alkarimi
O Allah, I surely beseech You in the name of Your Honorable Face,
وَٱسْمِكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
wasmika al`azimi
Your Tremendous Name,
وَمُلْكِكَ ٱلْقَدِيـمِ
wa mulkika alqadimi
and Your Timeless Kingdom,
انْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ
an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa alihi
to send blessings to Muhammad and his Household
وَ انْ تَغْفِرَ لِي ذَنْبِيَ ٱلْعَظِيمَ
wa an taghfira li dhanbiya al`azima
and to forgive my enormous sin;
إِنَّهُ لاَ يَغْفِرُ ٱلْعَظِيمَ إِلاَّ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
innahu la yaghfiru al`azima illa al`azimu
for none can forgive the enormous save the All-tremendous (Lord).
مَا شَاءَ ٱللَّهُ
ma sha'a allahu
Only that which Allah wills shall come to pass!
لاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِٱللَّهِ
la quwwata illa billahi
There is no strength save with Allah.
اَسْتَغْفِرُ ٱللَّهَ
astaghfiru allaha
I pray the forgiveness of Allah.
Additonal Recitations in 3rd & 4th Unit of the Nafila of Magrib prayer
it is advisable to recite in the third unit Surah al-Fatihah and the following verses, which are the first six verses of Surah al-Hadid (No. 57):
سَبَّحَ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلارْضِ
sabbaha lillahi ma fi alssamawati wal-ardi
Whatever is in the heavens and the earth declares the glory of Allah,
وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ.
wa huwa al`azizu alhakimu
and He is the Mighty, the Wise.
لَهُ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلارْضِ
lahu mulku alssamawati wal-ardi
His is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth;
يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ
yuhyi wa yumitu
He gives life and causes death;
وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ.
wa huwa `ala kulli shay'in qadirun
and He has power over all things.
هُوَ ٱلاوَّلُ وَٱلآخِرُ
huwa al-awwalu wal-akhiru
He is the First and the Last
وَٱلظَّاهِرُ وَٱلْبَاطِنُ
walzzahiru walbatinu
and the Ascendant (over all) and the Knower of hidden things,
وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ.
wa huwa bikulli shay'in `alimun
and He is Cognizant of all things.
هُوَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلارْضَ
huwa alladhi khalaqa alssamawati wal-arda
He it is who created the heavens and the earth
فِي سِتَّةِ ايَّامٍ
fi sittati ayyamin
in six periods,
ثُمَّ ٱسْتَوَىٰ عَلَىٰ ٱلْعَرْشِ
thumma istawa `ala al`arshi
and He is firm in power;
يَعْلَمُ مَا يَلِجُ فِي ٱلارْضِ
ya`lamu ma yaliju fi al-ardi
He knows that which goes deep down into the earth
وَمَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا
wa ma yakhruju minha
and that which comes forth out of it,
وَمَا يَنْزِلُ مِنْ ٱلسَّمَاءِ
wa ma yanzilu min alssama'i
and that which comes down from the heaven
وَمَا يَعْرُجُ فِيهَا
wa ma ya`ruju fiha
and that which goes up into it,
وَهُوَ مَعَكُمْ ايْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ
wa huwa ma`akum ayna ma kuntum
and He is with you wherever you are;
وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ.
wallahu bima ta`maluna basirun
and Allah sees what you do.
لَهُ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلارْضِ
lahu mulku alssamawati wal-ardi
His is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth;
وَإِلَىٰ اللَّهِ تُرْجَعُ ٱلامُورُ.
wa ila allahi turja`u al-umuru
and to Allah are (all) affairs returned.
يُولِجُ ٱللَّيْلَ فِي ٱلنَّهَارِ
yuliju allayla fi alnnahari
He causes the night to enter in upon the day,
وَيُولِجُ ٱلنَّهَارَ فِي ٱللَّيْلِ
wa yuliju alnnahara fi allayli
and causes the day to enter in upon the night,
وَهُوَ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ.
wa huwa `alimun bidhati alssuduri
and He is Cognizant of what is in the hearts.
It is also advisable to recite in the fourth unit of the nafila sunset prayer Surah al-Fatihah and the following holy verses, which are the last four verses of Surah al-Hashr (No. 59):
لَوْ انْزَلْنَا هٰذَا ٱلْقُرْآنَ عَلَىٰ جَبَلٍ
law anzalna hadha al-qur'ana `ala jabalin
Had We sent down this Qur'an on a mountain,
لَرَايْتَهُ خَاشِعاً مُتَصَدِّعاً مِنْ خَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ
lara'aytahu khashi`an mutasaddi`an min khashyati allahi
you would certainly have seen it falling down, splitting asunder because of the fear of Allah,
وَتِلْكَ ٱلامْثَالُ نَضْرِبُهَا لِلنَّاسِ
wa tilka al-amthalu nadribuha lilnnasi
and We set forth these parables to men
لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
la`allahum yatafakkaruna
that they may reflect.
هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ
huwa allahu alladhi la ilaha illa huwa
He is Allah besides Whom there is no god;
عَالِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَادَةِ
`alimu alghaybi walshshahadati
the Knower of the unseen and the seen;
هُوَ ٱلرَّحْمٰنُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
huwa alrrahmanu alrrahimu
He is the Beneficent, the Merciful.
هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ
huwa allahu alladhi la ilaha illa huwa
He is Allah, besides Whom there is no god;
ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱلْقُدُّوسُ
almaliku alquddusu
the King, the Holy,
ٱلسَّلاَمُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُ ٱلْمُهَيْمِنُ
alssalamu almu'minu almuhayminu
the Giver of peace, the Granter of security, Guardian over all,
ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْجَبَّارُ ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرُ
al`azizu aljabbaru almutakabbiru
the Mighty, the Supreme, the Possessor of every greatness.
سُبْحَانَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
subhana allahi `amma yushrikuna
Glory be to Allah from what they set up with Him.
هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْخَالِقُ ٱلْبَارِئُ ٱلْمُصَوِّرُ
huwa allahu alkhaliqu albari'u almusawwiru
He is Allah the Creator, the Maker, the Fashioner;
لَهُ ٱلاسْمَاءُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ
lahu al-asma'u alhusna
His are the most excellent names;
يُسَبِّحُ لَهُ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلارْضِ
yusabbihu lahu ma fi alssamawati wal-ardi
whatever is in the heavens and the earth declares His glory;
وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ.
wa huwa al`azizu alhakimu
and He is the Mighty, the Wise.
You may then do the Thanksgiving prostration & recite
شُكْراً شُكْراً شُكْراً
shukran shukran shukran
Thanks, thanks, thanks.
Al-Kulayni has reported Imam al Sadiq (`a) as saying: When you finish the nafila sunset prayer, you may pass your hand over your forehead and repeat the following prayer three times:
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِي لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاََّ هُوَ
bismillahi alladhi la ilaha illa huwa
In the Name of Allah save Whom there is no god,
عَالِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَادَةِ
`alimu alghaybi walshshahadati
the Knower of the unseen and the seen,
ٱلرَّحْمٰنُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
alrrahmanu alrrahimu
the All-beneficent, and the All-merciful.
اللَّهُمَّ اذْهِبْ عَنِّيَ ٱلْهَمَّ وَٱلْحَزَنَ
allahumma adhhib `anniya alhamma walhazana
O Allah, (please) take away from me grief and distress.
