First Muharram - Dua and Amaal

اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ رَبِّي وَ رَبُّكَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي خَلَقَنِي وَ خَلَقَكَ وَ قَدَّرَكَ فِي مَنَازِلِكَ [وَ قَدَّرَ مَنَازِلَكَ‌] وَ جَعَلَكَ آيَةً لِلْعَالَمِينَ يُبَاهِي اللَّهُ بِكَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ

Allahu akbar Allahu akbar Allahu akbar rabbi wa rabbukallah la ilaha illa huwa rabbul alamin alhamdu lillahilladhi khalaqani wa khalaqaka wa qaddaraka fi manazilika wa jaalaka ayatan lil-alamina yubahillahu bikal mala'ikah

Exalt the Sublime God and say: "God is the Great! God is the Great! God is the Great! God is my Lord and your Lord! God is the Lord of the worlds. There are no Gods but God. Praise be to God, Who created me, created you, destined Your Path and established you as a sign for the people of the world. God takes pride in you near the angels.

اللَّهُمَّ أَهِلَّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالْأَمْنِ وَ الْإِيمَانِ وَ السَّلَامَةِ وَ الْإِسْلَامِ وَ الْغِبْطَةِ وَ السُّرُورِ وَ الْبَهْجَةِ وَ ثَبِّتْنَا عَلَى طَاعَتِكَ وَ الْمُسَارَعَةِ فِيمَا يُرْضِيكَ

Allahumma ahillahu alayna bil-amni wal-imani was-salamati wal-islami wal-ghibtati was-sururi wal-bahjati wa thabbitna ala taatika wal-musaraati fima yurdik

O' my God! Please let this month be a period of peace, faith, safety and total submission to Your will . Please establish us firmly in Your obedience and make us walk apace swiftly to that which You like and approve.

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي شَهْرِنَا هَذَا وَ ارْزُقْنَا خَيْرَهُ وَ بَرَكَتَهُ وَ يُمْنَهُ وَ عَوْنَهُ وَ فَوْزَهُ وَ اصْرِفْ عَنَّا شَرَّهُ وَ بَلَاءَهُ وَ فِتْنَتَهُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.

Allahumma barik lana fi shahrina hadha warzuqna khayrahu wa barakatahu wa yumnahu wa awnahu wa fawzahu wasrif anna sharrahu wa bala'ahu wa fitnatahu birahmatika ya arhamar-rahimin

O' my God! Please bless us in this month. And please bless us with its generous goodness and abundance, its blessedness, assistance and salvation. and safeguard us from any evil, misfortune and mischief during this month. By Your Mercy! O' the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful."

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

O Allah! You are Allah! There is no God but You!

Allahumma anta Allahu la ilaha illa ant

أَسْأَلُكَ بِكَ وَ بِكَلِمَاتِكَ وَ أَسْمَائِكَ الْحُسْنَى كُلِّهَا

I ask You through Yourself, Your Words, and all Your Beautiful Names,

As'aluka bika wa bikalamatika wa asma'ikal husna kulliha

وَ أَنْبِيَائِكَ وَ رُسُلِكَ وَ أَوْلِيَائِكَ وَ مَلَائِكَتِكَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ وَ جَمِيعِ عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ

And Your Prophets, Your Messengers, Your Guardians, Your near-stationed angels, and all Your servants in the ranks of the righteous,

Wa anbiya'ika wa rusulika wa awliya'ika wa mala'ikatikal muqarrabina wa jami'i ibadikas-salihin

أَلَّا تُخَلِّيَنِي مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ الَّتِي وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَيْ‌ءٍ

That You do not deprive me of Your Mercy which encompasses all things.

Alla tukhliyani min rahmatikallati wasi'at kulla shay

يَا اللَّهُ يَا رَحْمَانُ يَا وَاحِدُ يَا حَيُّ يَا أَوَّلُ يَا آخِرُ يَا ظَاهِرُ يَا بَاطِنُ

O Allah! O Compassionate! O the One! O the Living! O the First! O the Last! O Outward! O Inward!

Ya Allahu ya Rahmanu ya Wahidu ya Hayyu ya Awwalu ya Akhiru ya Zahiru ya Batin

يَا مَلِكُ يَا غَنِيُّ يَا مُحِيطُ يَا سَمِيعُ يَا عَلِيمُ يَا عَلِيُّ يَا شَهِيدُ يَا قَرِيبُ يَا مُجِيبُ

O King! O Rich! O the All-Encompassing! O the All-Hearing! O the All-Knowing! O the Sublime! O Witness! O the All-Near! O the Responder!

Ya Maliku ya Ghanniyu ya Muhitu ya Sami'u ya Alimu ya Aliyyu ya Shahidu ya Qaribu ya Mujib

يَا حَمِيدُ يَا مَجِيدُ يَا عَزِيزُ يَا قَهَّارُ يَا خَالِقُ يَا مُحْسِنُ يَا مُنْعِمُ يَا مَعْبُودُ

O the Praiseworthy! O the Most Glorious! O Exalted in Might! O Irresistible! O Creator! O the Bestower of Good! O the Giver of Bounties! O the Worshipped!

Ya Hamidu ya Majidu ya Azizu ya Qahharu ya Khaliqu ya Muhsinu ya Mun'imu ya Mabud

يَا قَدِيمُ يَا دَائِمُ يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ يَا فَرْدُ يَا وَتْرُ يَا أَحَدُ يَا صَمَدُ

O the Eternal! O the Enduring! O the Living! O the Self-Subsisting! O the Unique! O the Odd! O the One! O the Eternal, Absolute!

Ya Qadimu ya Daimu ya Hayyu ya Qayyumu ya Fardu ya Watru ya Ahadu ya Samad

يَا بَاعِثُ يَا وَارِثُ يَا سَمِيعُ يَا عَلِيمُ يَا لَطِيفُ يَا خَبِيرُ يَا جَوَادُ يَا مَاجِدُ

O Resurrector! O Inheritor! O the All-Hearing! O the All-Knowing! O Knower of subtleties! O the All-Aware! O Munificent! O the Noble!

Ya Ba'ithu ya Warithu ya Sami'u ya Alimu ya Latifu ya Khabiru ya Jawadu ya Majidu

يَا قَادِرُ يَا مُقْتَدِرُ يَا قَاهِرُ يَا رَحْمَانُ يَا رِجِيمُ يَا قَابِضُ يَا بَاسِطُ

O the Able! O the Affluent! O the Subduer! O the Compassionate! O the Merciful! O the Constrictor! O the Expander!

Ya Qadiru ya Muqtadiru ya Qahharu ya Rahmanu ya Rahimu ya Qabidu ya Basitu

يَا حَلِيمُ يَا كَرِيمُ يَا عَفُوُّ يَا رَءُوفُ يَا غَفُورُ

O the Forbearing! O the All-Generous! O Pardoner! O the Compassionate! O the All-Forgiving!

Ya Halimu ya Karimu ya Afuwwu ya Ra'ufu ya Ghafur

هَا أَنَا ذَا صَغِيرٌ فِي قُدْرَتِكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ

Here I am, insignificant in Your power, standing right in front of You,

Ha ana dha saghirun fi qudratika bayna yadayk

رَاغِبٌ إِلَيْكَ مَعَ كَثْرَةِ نِسْيَانِي وَ ذُنُوبِي

Turning longingly toward You, despite my frequent forgetfulness and many sins.

Raghibun ilayka ma'a kathrati nisyani wa dhunubi

وَ لَوْ لَا سَعَةُ رَحْمَتِكَ وَ لُطْفِكَ وَ رَأْفَتِكَ لَكُنْتُ مِنَ الْهَالِكِينَ

Were it not for the vastness of Your Mercy, Your favor, and Your kindness, I would surely have been among the ruined ones.

Wa law la sa'atu rahmatika wa lutfika wa ra'fatika lakuntu minal halikin

يَا مَنْ هُوَ عَالِمٌ بِفَقْرِي إِلَى جَمِيلِ نَظَرِهِ وَ سَعَةِ رَحْمَتِهِ

O He Who is fully aware of my poverty and my absolute need for His beautiful gaze and expansive mercy!

Ya man huwa alimun bifaqri ila jamili nazarihi wa sa'ati rahmatih

أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَسْمَائِكَ كُلِّهَا مَا عَلِمْتُ مِنْهَا وَ مَا لَمْ أَعْلَمْ

I ask You by the totality of Your Names—those I know of them and those I do not know—

As'aluka bi-asma'ika kulliha ma alimtu minha wa ma lam alam

وَ بِحَقِّكَ عَلَى خَلْقِكَ وَ بِقِدَمِكَ وَ أَزَلِكَ وَ إِبَادِكَ وَ خُلْدِكَ وَ سَرْمَدِكَ

And by Your Right over Your creation, by Your pre-existence, Your eternity, Your enduring domain, Your everlastingness, and Your timeless nature,

Wa bihaqqika ala khalqika wa biqidamika wa azalika wa ibadika wa khuldika wa sarmadik

وَ كِبْرِيَائِكَ وَ جَبَرُوتِكَ وَ عَظَمَتِكَ وَ شَأْنِكَ وَ مَشِيَّتِكَ

And by Your majesty, Your omnipotence, Your grandeur, Your high status, and Your supreme Will:

Wa kibriya'ika wa jabarutika wa azamatika wa sha'nika wa mashiy'atik

أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

That You bestow Your blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,

An tusalliya ala Muhammadin wa ala ali Muhammad

وَ أَنْ تَرْحَمَنِي وَ تُقَدِّسَنِي بِلَمَحَاتِ حَنَانِكَ وَ مَغْفِرَتِكَ وَ رِضْوَانِكَ

And that You have mercy on me and sanctify me with the gentle glances of Your compassion, Your forgiveness, and Your pleasure,

Wa an tarhamani wa tuqaddisani bilamahati hananika wa maghfiratika wa ridwanik

وَ تَعْصِمَنِي مِنْ كُلِّ مَا نَهَيْتَنِي عَنْهُ

And that You protect me from everything You have forbidden me from,

Wa tasimani min kulli ma nahaytani anh

وَ تُوَفِّقَنِي لِمَا يُرْضِيكَ عَنِّي

And grant me success in doing whatever pleases You with me,

Wa tuwaffiqani lima yurdika anni

وَ تُجْبِرَنِي عَلَى مَا أَمَرْتَنِي بِهِ وَ أَحْبَبْتَهُ مِنِّي

And compel me to fulfill what You have commanded me to do and what You love from me.

Wa tujbirani ala ma amartani bihi wa ahbabtahu minni

اللَّهُمَّ امْلَأْ قَلْبِي وَقَارَ جَلَالِكَ وَ جَلَالَ عَظَمَتِكَ وَ كِبْرِيَائِكَ

O Allah! Fill my heart with the reverence of Your glory, and the majesty of Your grandeur and magnificence,

Allahumma-mla' qalbi waqara jalalika wa jalala azamatika wa kibriya'ik

وَ أَعِنِّي عَلَى جَمِيعِ أَعْدَائِكَ وَ أَعْدَائِي

And assist me against all of Your enemies and my enemies.

Wa a'inni ala jami'i ada'ika wa ada'i

يَا خَيْرَ الْمَالِكِينَ وَ أَوْسَعَ الرَّازِقِينَ

O Best of Owners! O Most Expansive of Providers!

Ya khayral malikina wa awsa'ar-raziqin

وَ يَا مُكَوِّرَ الدُّهُورِ وَ يَا مُبَدِّلَ الْأَزْمَانِ

O He Who rolls the ages! O He Who changes the times!

Wa ya mukawwirad-duhuri wa ya mubaddilal azman

وَ يَا مُولِجَ اللَّيْلِ فِي النَّهَارِ وَ مُولِجَ النَّهَارِ فِي اللَّيْلِ

O He Who merges the night into the day, and merges the day into the night!

Wa ya mulijal layli fin-nahari wa mulijan-nahara fil-layl

يَا مُدَبِّرَ الدُّوَلِ وَ الْأُمُورِ وَ الْأَيَّامِ

O Regulator of nations, affairs, and days!

Ya mudabbirad-duwali wal-umuri wal-ayyam

أَنْتَ الْقَدِيمُ الَّذِي لَمْ تَزَلْ وَ الْمَالِكُ الَّذِي لَا يَزُولُ

You are the Eternal One Who has always existed, and the Sovereign Who shall never decline.

Antal qadimulladhi lam tazal wal-malikulladhi la yazul

سُبْحَانَكَ وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ بِحَمْدِكَ وَ حَوْلِكَ عَلَى كُلِّ حَمْدٍ وَ حَوْلٍ دَائِماً مَعَ دَوَامِكَ وَ سَاطِعاً بِكِبْرِيَائِكَ

Glory be to You! All praise is Yours, accompanied by Your praise and power, over every expression of praise and power, perpetually with Your perpetuity, and shining with Your majesty.

Subhanaka wa lakal hamdu bihamdika wa hawlika ala kulli hamdin wa hawlin da'iman ma'a dawamika wa sati'am bikibriya'ik

أَنْتَ إِلَهِي وَلِيُّ الْحَامِدِينَ وَ مَوْلَى الشَّاكِرِينَ

You are my God! The Guardian of those who praise, and the Master of those who are grateful.

Anta ilahi waliyyul hamidina wa mawlash-shakirin

يَا مَنْ مَزِيدُهُ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ

O He Whose giving increases without any measure!

Ya mam maziduhu bighayri hisab

يَا مَنْ نِعَمُهُ لَا تُجَازَى وَ شُكْرُهُ لَا يُسْتَقْصَى وَ مُلْكُهُ لَا يَبِيدُ وَ أَيَّامُهُ لَا تُحْصَى

O He Whose blessings cannot be repaid, Whose gratitude cannot be fully exhausted, Whose dominion never perishes, and Whose days cannot be counted!

Ya man niamuhu la tujaza wa shukruhu la yustaqsa wa mulkuhu la yabidu wa ayyamuhu la tuhsa

صِلْ أَيَّامِي بِأَيَّامِكَ مَغْفُوراً لِي

Join my days to Your Days in a state where I am forgiven,

Sil ayyami bi-ayyamika maghfurall_li

مُحَرَّماً لَحْمِي وَ دَمِي وَ مَا وَهَبْتَ لِي مِنَ الْخَلْقِ وَ الْحَيَاةِ وَ الْحَوْلِ وَ الْقُوَّةِ عَلَى النَّارِ

And make my flesh, my blood, and all that You have granted me of physical creation, life, strength, and power forbidden to the Fire.

Muharramal lahmi wa dami wa ma wahabta li minal khalqi wal-hayati wal-hawli wal-quwwati alan-nar

يَا جَارَ الْمُسْتَجِيرِينَ وَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ‌

O Protector of those seeking protection! O Most Merciful of the merciful!

Ya jaral mustajirina wa ya arhamar-rahimin

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ‌

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

Bismillahir-rahmanir-rahim

تَوَكَّلْتُ‌ عَلَى الْحَيِّ الَّذِي لَا يَمُوتُ‌

I place my trust in the Living One Who never dies.

Tawakkaltu alal hayyilladhi la yamut

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعالَمِينَ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ مالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَ إِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ‌

Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful, Master of the Day of Judgment. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help.

Alhamdu lillahi rabbil alaminar-rahmanir-rahimi maliki yawmiddin iyyaka nabudu wa iyyaka nastain

لِنَفْسِي وَ دِينِي وَ سَمْعِي وَ بَصَرِي وَ جَسَدِي وَ جَمِيعِ جَوَارِحِي

For my soul, my religion, my hearing, my sight, my body, and all my limbs,

Linafsi wa dini wa sam'i wa basari wa jasadi wa jami'i jawarihi

وَ وَالِدَيَّ وَ أَهْلِ لِي وَ مَالِي وَ أَوْلَادِي وَ جَمِيعِ مَنْ يَعْنِينِي أَمْرُهُ وَ سَائِرِ مَا مَلَكتْ يَمِينِي

And for my parents, my family, my wealth, my children, everyone whose affairs concern me, and everything that my right hand possesses,

Wa walidayya wa ahli wa mali wa awladi wa jami'i may yanini amruhu wa sa'iri ma malakat yamini

عَلَى جَمِيعِ مَنْ أَخَافُهُ وَ أَحْذَرُهُ بَرّاً وَ بَحْراً مِنْ خَلْقِكَ أَجْمَعِينَ

Against every single one whom I fear and am wary of among all Your creation, on land and at sea.

Ala jami'i man akhafuhu wa ahdharuhu barraw wa bahram min khalqika ajma'in

اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ وَ أَعَزُّ وَ أَجَلُّ وَ أَمْنَعُ مِمَّا أَخَافُ وَ أَحْذَرُ

Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest! He is more Mighty, more Majestic, and more Defending than everything I fear and am wary of.

Allahu akbar Allahu akbar wa a'azzu wa ajallu wa amna'u mimma akhafu wa ahdhar

عَزَّ جَارُ اللَّهِ وَ جَلَّ ثَنَاءُ اللَّهِ وَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ

Mighty is the one protected by Allah, exalted is the praise of Allah, and there is no god but Allah.

Azza jarullahi wa jalla thana'ullahi wa la ilaha illallah

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي فِي جِوَارِكَ الَّذِي لَا يُرَامُ

O Allah! Establish me in Your protective care that cannot be breached,

Allahumma-jalni fi jiwarikalladhi la yuram

وَ فِي حِمَاكَ الَّذِي لَا يُسْتَبَاحُ وَ لَا يَذِلُّ

And within Your sanctuary that cannot be violated or humiliated,

Wa fi himakalladhi la yustabahu wa la yadhill

وَ فِي ذِمَّتِكَ الَّتِي لَا تُخْفَرُ

And under Your covenant that cannot be broken,

Wa fi dhimmatikallati la tukhfar

وَ فِي مَنْعَتِكَ الَّتِي لَا تُسْتَذَلُّ وَ لَا تُسْتَضَامُ

And within Your defense that cannot be debased or oppressed; for the one protected by Allah is secure and preserved.

Wa fi man'atikallati la yustadhallu wa la yustadam

وَ جَارُ اللَّهِ آمِنٌ مَحْفُوظٌ

And there is no power nor strength except by Allah, the High, the Supreme.

Wa jarullahi aminum mahfuz

وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ

O Allah! O Sufficer from all things, while nothing can suffice against Him!

Wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahil aliyyil azim

اللَّهُمَّ يَا كَافِي مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ وَ لَا يَكْفِي مِنْهُ شَيْ‌ءٌ

O He Whom nothing is like His sufficiency! Suffice me in all things so that nothing can harm me while I am with You,

Allahumma ya kafiya min kulli shay'iw wa la yakfi minhu shay

يَا مَنْ لَيْسَ مِثْلَ كِفَايَتِهِ شَيْ‌ءٌ اكْفِنِي كُلَّ شَيْ‌ءٍ حَتَّى لَا يَضُرَّنِي مَعَكَ شَيْ‌ءٌ

And avert from me anxiety and sorrow.

Ya mal laysa mithla kifayatihi shay'unk-fini kulla shay'in hatta la yadurrani ma'aka shay

وَ اصْرِفْ عَنِّي الْهَمَّ وَ الْحُزْنَ

And there is no power nor strength except by Allah, the High, the Supreme.

Wasrif annil hamma wal-huzn

وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ

O Allah! O All-Generous!

Wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahil aliyyil azim

يَا اللَّهُ يَا كَرِيمُ

O Allah! I thrust You against the necks of my enemies,

Ya Allahu ya Karim

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَدْرَأُ بِكَ فِي نُحُورِ أَعْدَائِي

And against anyone who intends harm toward me, and I seek refuge in You from their evil.

Allahumma inni adra'u bika fi nuhuri ada'i

وَ كُلِّ مَنْ يُرِيدُنِي بِسُوءٍ وَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهِمْ

I seek Your help against them, so suffice me against them with whatever You wish, however You wish, from wherever You wish, and whenever You wish.

Wa kulli may yuriduni bisu'iw wa a'udhu bika min sharrihim

وَ أَسْتَعِينُكَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَاكْفِنِيهِمْ بِمَا شِئْتَ وَ كَيْفَ شِئْتَ وَ مِنْ حَيْثُ شِئْتَ وَ أَنَّى شِئْتَ‌

"...but Allah will suffice you against them, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing."

Wa astainuka alayhim fakfinihim bima shi'ta wa kayfa shi'ta wa min haythu shi'ta wa anna shi't

فَسَيَكْفِيكَهُمُ اللَّهُ وَ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ‌

"We will strengthen your arm through your brother and invest you both with authority, so they shall not reach you; with Our signs, you two and those who follow you shall triumph."

Fasayakfikahumullahu wa huwas-sami'ul alim

سَنَشُدُّ عَضُدَكَ بِأَخِيكَ وَ نَجْعَلُ لَكُما سُلْطاناً فَلَا يَصِلُونَ إِلَيْكُما بِآيَاتِنَا أَنْتُمَا وَ مَنِ اتَّبَعَكُمَا الْغَالِبُونَ‌

"Verily, we are Messengers from your Lord; they shall never reach you!"

Sanashuddu adudaka bi-akhika wa naj'alu lakuma sultanan fala yasiluna ilaykuma bi-ayatina antuma wa man-ittaba'akumal ghalibun

إِنَّا رُسُلُ رَبِّكَ لَنْ يَصِلُوا إِلَيْكَ‌

"Fear not, for I am with you both; I hear and I see."

Inna rusulu rabbika lay yasilu ilayk

لَا تَخَافَا إِنَّنِي مَعَكُمَا أَسْمَعُ وَ أَرَى‌

"I seek refuge in the Most Compassionate from you, if you are one who fears Allah."

La takhafa innani ma'akuma asma'u wa ara

إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِالرَّحْمَنِ مِنْكَ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَقِيًّا

"Be driven into it with ignominy, and speak not to Me!"

Inni a'udhu bir-rahmani minka in kunta taqiyya

اخْسَؤُا فِيهَا وَ لَا تُكَلِّمُونِ‌

I enter the morning and the evening fortified by the might of Allah, Whom nothing is like, completely shielded,

Ikhsa'u fiha wa la tukallimun

أَصْبَحْتُ وَ أَمْسَيْتُ بِعِزَّةِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي‌ لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْ‌ءٌ مُمْتَنِعاً

And by the perfect words of Allah, entirely protected,

Asbahtu wa amsaytu bi-izzatillahilladhi laysa kamithlihi shay'um mumtani'a

وَ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ كُلِّهَا مُحْتَرِزاً

And by the beautiful names of Allah, seeking refuge.

Wa bikalimatillahit-tammati kulliha muhtariza

وَ بِأَسْمَاءِ اللَّهِ الْحَسَنَةِ مُتَعَوِّذاً

I seek refuge in the Lord of Moses and Aaron, and the Lord of Jesus, and of Abraham who fulfilled his covenant,

Wa bi-asma'illahil hasanati muta'awwidha

وَ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ مُوسَى وَ هَارُونَ وَ رَبِّ عِيسَى‌ وَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الَّذِي وَفَّى‌

From the evil of the rebels among the jinn and mankind, and from the evil of every rebellious satan, and from the evil of every stubborn tyrant.

Wa a'udhu birabbi Musa wa Haruna wa rabbi Isa wa Ibrahimalladhi waffa

مِنْ شَرِّ الْمَرَدَةِ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَ الْإِنْسِ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ مَرِيدٍ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ

I bind the hearing of every transgressor, oppressor, enemy, and envious one among the jinn and mankind away from me, my children, my family, my wealth, and all whose affairs concern me.

Min sharril maradati minal jinni wal-insi wa min sharri kulli shaytanim maridiw wa min sharri kulli jabbarin anid

أَخَذْتُ سَمْعَ كُلِّ طَاغٍ وَ بَاغٍ وَ عَدُوٍّ وَ حَاسِدٍ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَ الْإِنْسِ عَنِّي وَ عَنْ أَوْلَادِي وَ أَهْلِي وَ مَالِي وَ جَمِيعِ مَنْ يَعْنِينِي أَمْرُهُ

I bind the hearing of every adversary, his sight, his strength, his hands, his feet, his tongue, his hair, his skin, and all his limbs by the hearing of Allah.

Akhadhtu sam'a kulli taghiw wa baghiw wa aduwwiw wa hasidim minal jinni wal-insi anni wa an awladi wa ahli wa mali wa jami'i may yanini amruh

وَ أَخَذْتُ سَمْعَ كُلِّ مُطَالِبٍ وَ بَصَرَهُ وَ قُوَّتَهُ وَ يَدَيْهِ وَ رِجْلَيْهِ وَ لِسَانَهُ وَ شَعْرَهُ وَ بَشَرَهُ وَ جَمِيعَ جَوَارِحِهِ بِسَمْعِ اللَّهِ

I turn their eyes away from me by the sight of Allah,

Wa akhadhtu sam'a kulli mutalibiw wa basarahu wa quwwatahu wa yadayhi wa rijlayhi wa lisanahu wa shahrahu wa basharahu wa jami'a jawarihi bisam'illah

وَ أَخَذْتُ أَبْصَارَهُمْ عَنِّي بِبَصَرِ اللَّهِ

And I shatter their strength away from me by the strength of Allah and by the firm plotting of Allah.

Wa akhadhtu absarahum anni bibasarillah

وَ كَسَرْتُ قُوَّتَهُمْ عَنِّي بِقُوَّةِ اللَّهِ وَ بِكَيْدِ اللَّهِ الْمَتِينِ

They have no authority over me and no path against us; a protective veil is drawn between us and them.

Wa kasartu quwwatahum anni biquwwatillahi wa bikaydillahil matin

فَلَيْسَ لَهُمْ عَلَيَّ سُلْطَانٌ وَ لَا سَبِيلٌ

By the covering of Allah and the covering of prophethood, by which they shielded themselves from the onslaughts of the Pharaohs, so Allah covered them through it.

Falaysa lahum alayya sultanuw wa la sabil

بَيْنَنَا وَ بَيْنهمْ حِجَابٌ مَسْتُورٌ

Gabriel is upon your right, Michael is upon your left, and Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) is between us and you.

Baynana wa baynahum hijabum mastur

وَ بِسَتْرِ اللَّهِ وَ سَتْرِ النُّبُوَّةِ الَّذِي احْتَجَبُوا بِهِ مِنْ سَطَوَاتِ الْفَرَاعِنَةِ فَسَتَرَهُمُ اللَّهُ بِهِ

And Allah, Majestic and Mighty, is supreme over you and encompasses you from before you and from behind you.

Wa bistrillahi wa sitrin-nubuwwatilladhihtajabu bihi min satawatil fara'inah fasatarahumullahu bih

جَبْرَئِيلُ عَنْ أَيْمَانِكُمْ وَ مِيكَائِيلُ عَنْ شَمَائِلِكُمْ وَ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ وَ سَلَّمَ بَيْنَنَا وَ بَيْنِكُمْ

He holds you by your forelocks, your hearing, your sight, your hearts, your tongues, your strength, your hands, and your feet; He stands as a barrier between us and your evils.

Jabra'ilu an aymanikum wa Mika'ilu an shama'ilikum wa Muhammadun sallallahu alayhi wa alihi wa sallama baynana wa baynakum

وَ اللَّهُ جَلَّ وَ عَزَّ عَالٍ عَلَيْكُمْ وَ مُحِيطٌ بِكُمْ مِنْ بَيْنِ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَ مِنْ وَرَائِكُمْ

"We have put yokes round their necks right up to their chins, so that their heads are forced up."

Wallahu jalla wa azza alin alaykum wa muhitum bikum mim bayna aydikum wa miw wara'ikum

وَ آخِذٌ بِنَوَاصِيكُمْ وَ بِسَمْعِكُمْ وَ أَبْصَارِكُمْ وَ قُلُوبِكُمْ وَ أَلْسِنَتِكُمْ وَ قُوَاكُمْ وَ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَ أَرْجُلِكُمْ

"And We have put a bar in front of them and a bar behind them, and further, We have covered them up, so that they cannot see."

Wa akhidhum binawasikum wa bisam'ikum wa absarikum wa qulubikum wa alsinatikum wa quwakum wa aydikum wa arjulikum

يَحُولُ بَيْنَنَا وَ بَيْنِ‌ شُرُورِكُمْ

May their faces turn hideous! Deaf, dumb, and blind! Ta-Ha, Ha-Mim—they cannot see.

Yahulu baynana wa bayna shururikum

وَ جَعَلْنَا فِي أَعْنَاقِهِمْ أَغْلَالًا فَهِيَ إِلَى الْأَذْقَانِ فَهُمْ مُقْمَحُونَ

O Allah! O He Whose covering cannot be pierced, and O He Whose eye never sleeps!

Wa ja'alna fi a'naqihim aghlalan fahiya ilal adhqani fahumm muqmahun

وَ جَعَلْنَا مِنْ بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ سَدًّا وَ مِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ سَدًّا فَأَغْشَيْنَاهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ‌

Cover me with Your covering that cannot be pierced, and preserve me with Your eye that never sleeps from all afflictions.

Wa ja'alna mim bayna aydihim saddaw wa min khalfihim saddan fa-aghshaynahum fahum la yubsirun

شَاهَتِ الْوُجُوهُ صُمٌّ بُكْمٌ عُمْيٌ طه‌ حم‌ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ

Allah is sufficient for me against all His creation.

Shahatil wujuhu summun bukmun umyun Ta-Ha Ham-Mim la yubsirun

اللَّهُمَّ يَا مَنْ سِتْرُهُ لَا يُرَامُ وَ يَا مَنْ عَيْنُهُ لَا تَنَامُ

Allah—Who suffices against everything and nothing suffices against Him—is sufficient for me.

Allahumma ya mas sitruhu la yuram wa ya man aynuhu la tanam

اسْتُرْنِي بِسِتْرِكَ الَّذِي لَا يُرَامُ وَ احْفَظْنِي بِعَيْنِكَ الَّتِي لَا تَنَامُ مِنَ الْآفَاتِ كُلِّهَا

The Creator is sufficient for me instead of the creatures.

Usturni bisitrikalladhi la yuram wahfazni bi-aynikallati la tanamu minal afati kulliha

حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ مِنْ جَمِيعِ خَلْقِهِ

The Provider is sufficient for me instead of those who are provided for.

Hasbiyallahu min jami'i khalqih

حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي يَكْفِي مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ وَ لَا يَكْفِي مِنْهُ شَيْ‌ءٌ

The Lord is sufficient for me instead of those who are nurtured by lords.

Hasbiyallahulladhi yakfi min kulli shay'iw wa la yakfi minhu shay

حَسْبِيَ الْخَالِقُ مِنَ الْمَخْلُوقِينَ

The One Who favors without reminding is sufficient for me instead of those who remind of favors.

Hasbiyal khaliqu minal makhluqin

حَسْبِيَ الرَّازِقُ مِنَ الْمَرْزُوقِينَ

Allah, the Near, the Responder, is sufficient for me.

Hasbiyar-raziqu minal marzuqin

حَسْبِيَ الرَّبُّ مِنَ الْمَرْبُوبِينَ

Allah is sufficient for me instead of anyone else.

Hasbiyar-rabbu minal marbubin

حَسْبِي مَنْ لَا يَمُنُّ مِمَّنْ يَمُنُّ

Allah alone is sufficient for me; there is no partner for Him.

Hasbi mal la yamunnu mimmay yamunn

حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ الْقَرِيبُ الْمُجِيبُ

Allah is sufficient for me, and He is enough; Allah hears the one who supplicates.

Hasbiyallahul qaribul mujib

حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ مِنْ كُلِّ أَحَدٍ

There is no destination beyond Allah, no place to flee from Allah, and no sanctuary from Him.

Hasbiyallahu min kulli ahad

حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ

"Allah sufficeth me: there is no God but He. On Him is my trust—He the Lord of the Throne Supreme!"

Hasbiyallahu wahdahu la sharika lah

حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ وَ كَفَى سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ دَعَا

O Allah! Establish me in Your protective care that cannot be breached, within Your sanctuary that cannot be violated, and under Your covenant that cannot be broken.

Hasbiyallahu wa kafa sami'allahu liman da'a

لَيْسَ وَرَاءَ اللَّهِ مُنْتَهَى وَ لَا مِنَ اللَّهِ مَهْرَبٌ وَ لَا مَنْجَى‌

Preserve me with Your eye that never sleeps, encompass me with Your pillar that cannot be shaken,

Laysa wara'allahi muntahaw wa la minallahi mahrabuww wa la manja

حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَ هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ‌

And admit me into Your might that cannot be wronged.

Hasbiyallahu la ilaha illa huwa alayhi tawakkaltu wa huwa rabbul arshil azim

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي فِي جِوَارِكَ الَّذِي لَا يُرَامُ وَ فِي حِمَاكَ الَّذِي لَا يُسْتَبَاحُ وَ فِي ذِمَّتِكَ الَّتِي لَا تُخْفَرُ

And have mercy on me by Your Mercy, O Compassionate!

Allahumma-jalni fi jiwarikalladhi la yuram wa fi himakalladhi la yustabahu wa fi dhimmatikallati la tukhfar

وَ احْفَظْنِي بِعَيْنِكَ الَّتِي لَا تَنَامُ وَ اكْنُفْنِي بِرُكْنِكَ الَّذِي لَا يُرَامُ

O Allah! O God! Do not destroy me while You are my hope, O Compassionate, O Merciful!

Wahfazni bi-aynikallati la tanam waknufni biruknikalladhi la yuram

وَ أَدْخِلْنِي فِي عِزِّكَ الَّذِي لَا يُضَامُ

"And I entrust my affair to Allah; verily, Allah ever watches over His servants."

Wa adkhilni fi izzikalladhi la yudam

وَ ارْحَمْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا رَحْمَانُ

There is no power nor strength except by Allah, the High, the Supreme.

Warhamni birahmatika ya Rahman

اللَّهُمَّ يَا اللَّهُ لَا تُهْلِكْنِي وَ أَنْتَ رَجَائِي يَا رَحْمَانُ يَا رَحِيمُ‌

Whatever Allah wills happens.

Allahumma ya Allahu la tuhlikni wa anta raja'i ya Rahmanu ya Rahim

وَ أُفَوِّضُ أَمْرِي إِلَى اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بَصِيرٌ بِالْعِبادِ

I seek refuge in the might of Allah, the glory of His Face, what the Tablet contains of Allah's knowledge, and what the veils conceal of the light of Allah's beauty.

Wa ufawwidu amri ilallah innallaha basirumbil ibad

وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ

O Allah! I am weak, burdened with dependents, and poor, seeking the fulfillment of needs whose realization is in Your hand; so I ask You,

Wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahil aliyyil azim

وَ مَا شَاءَ اللَّه كَانَ

O Allah, by Your Name—the One, the Unique, the Single, the Self-Subsisting, the Great, the Most High, Which has filled all pillars with protection and knowledge:

Wa ma sha'allahu kan

أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللَّهِ وَ جَلَالِ وَجْهِهِ وَ مَا وَعَاهُ اللَّوْحُ مِنْ عِلْمِ اللَّهِ وَ مَا سَتَرَتِ الْحُجُبُ مِنْ نُورِ بَهَاءِ اللَّهِ

That You bestow Your blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,

A'udhu bi-izzatillahi wa jalali wajhihi wa ma wa'ahul lawhu min ilmillahi wa ma sataratil hujubu min nuri baha'illah

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي ضَعِيفٌ مُعِيلٌ فَقِيرٌ طَالِبُ حَوَائِجَ قَضَاؤُهَا بِيَدِكَ فَأَسْأَلُكَ

And that You make the beginning of this day of mine, the beginning of this month of mine, and the beginning of this year of mine an improvement,

Allahumma inni da'ifun mu'ilun faqirun talibu hawaija qada'uha biyadika fa-as'aluk

اللَّهُمَّ بِاسْمِكَ الْوَاحِدِ الْأَحَدِ الْفَرْدِ الصَّمَدِ الْكَبِيرِ الْمُتَعَالِ الَّذِي مَلَأَ الْأَرْكَانَ كُلَّهَا حِفْظاً وَ عِلْماً

And the middle of this day of mine, the middle of this month of mine, and the middle of this year of mine a prosperity,

Allahumma bi-asmikal wahidil ahadil fardis-samadil kabiril muta'alilladhi mala'al arkana kulliha hifzaw wa ilma

أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

And the end of this day of mine, the end of this month of mine, and the end of this year of mine a success,

An tusalliya ala Muhammadin wa ala ali Muhammad

وَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ أَوَّلَ يَوْمِي هَذَا وَ أَوَّلَ شَهْرِي هَذَا وَ أَوَّلَ سَنَتِي هَذِهِ صَلَاحاً

And that You turn toward me in mercy; verily, You are the Ever-Relenting, the Merciful.

Wa an taj'ala awwala yawmi hadha wa awwala shahri hadha wa awwala sanati hadhihi salaha

وَ أَوْسَطَ يَوْمِي هَذَا وَ أَوَّلَ شَهْرِي هَذَا وَ أَوَّلَ سَنَتِي هَذِهِ فَلَاحاً

O Allah! Let me recognize the blessing of this month and this year, and their auspiciousness and blessing.

Wa awsat_yawmi hadha wa awsat_shahri hadha wa awsat_sanati hadhihi falaha

وَ آخِرَ يَوْمِي هَذَا وَ آخِرَ شَهْرِي هَذَا وَ آخِرَ سَنَتِي هَذِهِ نَجَاحاً

Provide me with the good of both, and avert from me the evil of both.

Wa akhira yawmi hadha wa akhira shahri hadha wa akhira sanati hadhihi najaha

وَ أَنْ تَتُوبَ عَلَيَ‌ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ‌

Provide me during both with health, safety, well-being, steadfastness, abundance, ease, security, sufficiency, guarding, and protection.

Wa an tatūba alayya innaka antat-tawwabur-rahim

اللَّهُمَّ عَرِّفْنِي بَرَكَةَ هَذَا الشَّهْرِ وَ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ وَ يُمْنَهُمَا وَ بَرَكَتَهُمَا

Grant me success during both in doing whatever pleases You with me,

Allahumma arrifni barakata hadhash-shahri wa hadhihis-sanati wa yumnahuma wa barakatahuma

وَ ارْزُقْنِي خَيْرَهُمَا وَ اصْرِفْ عَنِّي شَرَّهُمَا

And let me attain my aspirations during them, ease for me what I love, smooth for me my desires, lead me to my objective,

Warzuqni khayrahuma wasrif anni sharrahuma

وَ ارْزُقْنِي فِيهِمَا الصِّحَّةَ وَ السَّلَامَةَ وَ الْعَافِيَةَ وَ الِاسْتِقَامَةَ وَ السَّعَةَ وَ الدَّعَةَ وَ الْأَمْنَ وَ الْكِفَايَةَ وَ الْحِرَاسَةَ وَ الْكِلَاءَةَ

Relieve my sorrow during them, remove my harm,

Warzuqni fihima-s-sihhata was-salamata wal-afiyata wal-istiqamata was-sa'ata wad-da'ata wal-amna wal-kifayata wal-hirasata wal-kila'ah

وَ وَفِّقْنِي فِيهِمَا لِمَا يُرْضِيكَ عَنِّي

Settle my debts during them,

Wa waffiqni fihima lima yurdika anni

وَ بَلِّغْنِي فِيهِمَا أُمْنِيَّتِي وَ سَهِّلْ لِي فِيهِمَا مَحَبَّتِي وَ يَسِّرْ لِي فِيهِمَا مُرَادِي وَ أَوْصِلْنِي فِيهِمَا إِلَى بُغْيَتِي

And grant me victory during them over my enemies and those who envy me, and suffice me against their malice, by Your Mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

Wa ballighni fihima umniyyati wa sahhil li fihima mahabbati wa yassir li fihima muradi wa awsilni fihima ila bughyati

وَ فَرِّجْ فِيهِمَا غَمِّي وَ اكْشِفْ فِيهِمَا ضُرِّي

"There is no God but You! Glory be to You! I was indeed of the wrongdoers."

Wa farrij fihima ghammi wakshif fihima durri

وَ اقْضِ لِي فِيهِمَا دَيْنِي

And may Allah bestow blessings on Muhammad the Prophet, and upon his family, with abundant peace.

Waqdi li fihima dayni

وَ انْصُرْنِي فِيهِمَا عَلَى أَعْدَائِي وَ حُسَّادِي وَ اكْفِنِي فِيهِمَا أَمْرَهُمْ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ‌

O Allah! My Lord, my Master, and my Guardian! Save me from the places of destruction,

Wansurni fihima ala ada'i wa hussadi wakfini fihima amrahum birahmatika ya arhamar-rahimin

لا إِلهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ‌

Turn me away from sins, and keep me far from whatever is improper and unbeneficial.

La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minadh-dhalimin

وَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ وَ عَلَى آلِهِ وَ سَلَّمَ تَسْلِيماً كَثِيراً

O Allah! Do not leave any sin for me except that You forgive it, no anxiety except that You relieve it, no fault except that You conceal it,

Wa sallallahu ala Muhammadinin-nabiyyi wa ala alihi wa sallama tasliman kathira

اللَّهُمَّ رَبِّي وَ سَيِّدِي وَ مَوْلَايَ مِنَ الْمَهَالِكِ فَأَنْقِذْنِي

No sustenance except that You expand it, no hardship except that You ease it, no evil except that You avert it,

Allahumma rabbi wa sayyidi wa mawlaya minal mahaliki fa-anqidhnī

وَ عَنِ الذُّنُوبِ فَاصْرِفْنِي وَ عَمَّا لَا يُصْلِحُ وَ لَا يُغْنِي فَجَنِّبْنِي

No fear except that You grant security from it, no terror except that You calm it, no ailment except that You heal it,

Wa anidh-dhunubi fasrifni wa amma la yuslihu wa la yughni fajannibni

اللَّهُمَّ لَا تَدَعْ ذَنْباً إِلَّا غَفَرْتَهُ وَ لَا هَمّاً إِلَّا فَرَّجْتَهُ وَ لَا عَيْباً إِلَّا سَتَرْتَهُ

And no need except that You bring about its fulfillment with ease from You and well-being.

Allahumma la tada dhamban illa ghafaratahu wa la hamman illa farrajtahu wa la ayban illa satartahu

وَ لَا رِزْقاً إِلَّا بَسَطْتَهُ وَ لَا عُسْراً إِلَّا يَسَّرْتَهُ وَ لَا سُوءاً إِلَّا صَرَفْتَهُ

Wa la rizqan illa basattahu wa la usran illa yassartahu wa la su'an illa saraftahu

وَ لَا خَوْفاً إِلَّا أَمِنْتَهُ وَ لَا رُعْباً إِلَّا سَكَّنْتَهُ وَ لَا سُقْماً إِلَّا شَفَيْتَهُ

Wa la khawfan illa amantahu wa la ruban illa sakkantahu wa la suqman illa shafaytahu

وَ لَا حَاجَةً إِلَّا أَتَيْتَ عَلَى قَضَائِهَا فِي يُسْرٍ مِنْكَ وَ عَافِيَةٍ

Wa la hajatan illa atayta ala qada'iha fi yusrim minka wa afiyah

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسَأْتُ فَأَحْسَنْتَ

Allahumma inni asa'tu fa'ahsanta

Oh Allah, I have done wrong, yet You have done good.

وَ أَخْطَأْتُ فَتَفَضَّلْتَ لِلثِّقَةِ مِنِّي بِعَفْوِكَ

wa akhta'tu fatafaddalta lith-thiqati minni bi-'afwika

And I have erred, but You were gracious for the trust I have in Your forgiveness,

وَ الرَّجَاءِ مِنِّي لِرَحْمَتِكَ

wa ar-raja'i minni li-rahmatika

and the hope I have in Your mercy.

اللَّهُمَّ بِحَقِّ هَذَا الدُّعَاءِ

Allahumma bi-haqqi hadha ad-du'a'i

Oh Allah, by the right of this supplication

وَ بِحَقِيقَةِ هَذَا الرَّجَاءِ

wa bi-haqiqati hadha ar-raja'i

and the reality of this hope,

لَمَّا كَشَفْتَ عَنِّي الْبَلَاءَ

lamma kashafta 'anni al-bala'a

that You have removed the affliction from me,

وَ جَعَلْتَ لِي مِنْهُ مَخْرَجاً وَ مَنْجًى بِقُدْرَتِكَ وَ فَضْلِكَ

wa ja'alta li minhu makhrajan wa manjan bi-qudratika wa fadlika

and made for me a way out and salvation from it by Your power and grace.

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الْعَالِمُ بِذُنُوبِنَا فَاغْفِرْهَا

Allahumma anta al-'alimu bi-dhunubina faghfirha

Oh Allah, You are the Knower of our sins, so forgive them,

وَ بِأُمُورِنَا فَسَهِّلْهَا وَ بِدُيُونِنَا فَأَدِّهَا

wa bi-umurina fasahhilha wa bi-duyunina fa'addiha

and of our affairs, so make them easy, and of our debts, so pay them off,

وَ بِحَوَائِجِنَا فَاقْضِهَا بِقُدْرَتِكَ وَ فَضْلِكَ‌

wa bi-hawa'ijina faqdihā bi-qudratika wa fadlika

and of our needs, so fulfill them by Your power and grace.

إِنَّكَ عَلى‌ كُلِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ قَدِيرٌ

innaka 'ala kulli shay'in qadeer

Indeed, You are over all things powerful.

وَ لَوْ أَنَّ قُرْآناً سُيِّرَتْ بِهِ الْجِبالُ

wa law anna Qur'anan suyyirat bihi al-jibalu

And if there were a Quran by which the mountains could be moved,

أَوْ قُطِّعَتْ بِهِ الْأَرْضُ أَوْ كُلِّمَ بِهِ الْمَوْتى‌

aw qutti'at bihi al-ard aw kullima bihi al-mawta

or the earth could be cut into pieces, or the dead could be spoken to,

بَلْ لِلَّهِ الْأَمْرُ جَمِيعاً

bal lillahi al-amru jamee'an

rather, to Allah belongs the command entirely.

وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ

wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi al-'aliyyi al-'atheem

And there is no might and no power except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.

وَ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ كَانَ‌

wa ma sha'a Allahu kan

And what Allah wills, comes to be.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ‌

bismillahi ar-rahmani ar-raheem

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,

عَلَى نَفْسِي وَ دِينِي وَ سَمْعِي وَ بَصَرِي وَ جَسَدِي

'ala nafsi wa dini wa sam'i wa basari wa jasadi

upon myself, my religion, my hearing, my sight, and my body,

وَ جَمِيعِ جَوَارِحِي وَ مَا أَقَلَّتِ الْأَرْضُ مِنِّي‌

wa jamee'i jawarihi wa ma aqallati al-ard minni

and all my limbs, and what the earth carries of me.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ‌ عَلَى وَالِدَيَّ مِنَ النَّارِ

bismillahi ar-rahmani ar-raheem 'ala walidayya min an-nar

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, upon my parents from the Fire.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ‌ عَلَى أَهْلِي وَ مَالِي وَ أَوْلَادِي‌

bismillahi ar-rahmani ar-raheem 'ala ahli wa mali wa awladi

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, upon my family, my wealth, and my children.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ‌ عَلَى جَمِيعِ مَنْ يَعْنِينِي أَمْرُهُ‌

bismillahi ar-rahmani ar-raheem 'ala jamee'i man ya'nini amruhu

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, upon everyone whose matter concerns me.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ‌ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ أَعْطَانِي رَبِّي‌

bismillahi ar-rahmani ar-raheem 'ala kulli shay'in a'tani Rabbi

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, upon everything my Lord has given me.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ‌ افْتَتَحْتُ شَهْرِي هَذَا

bismillahi ar-rahmani ar-raheem iftatahtu shahri hadha

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, I begin this month

وَ سَنَتِي هَذِهِ وَ عَلَى اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ

wa sanati hadhihi wa 'ala Allahi tawakkaltu

and this year, and upon Allah I have relied.

وَ لَا حَوْلَ لِي وَ لَا حِيلَةَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ

wa la hawla li wa la heelata wa la quwwata

And I have no might, no stratagem, and no power

إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ وَ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ كَانَ

illa billahi al-'aliyyi al-'atheem wa ma sha'a Allahu kan

except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great, and what Allah wills, comes to be.

اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ كَبِيراً وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَثِيراً

Allahu akbaru kabeera wa al-hamdu lillahi katheera

Allah is the greatest, greatly, and much praise is to Allah.

وَ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ‌ بُكْرَةً وَ أَصِيلًا

wa subhan Allahi bukratan wa aseela

And glory be to Allah in the morning and evening.

سُبْحانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ

subhana rabbika rabbi al-'izzati 'amma yasifoon

Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, from what they describe.

وَ سَلامٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعالَمِينَ‌

wa salamun 'ala al-mursaleen wa al-hamdu lillahi rabbi al-'alameen

And peace be upon the messengers, and all praise is to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.

فَسُبْحانَ اللَّهِ حِينَ تُمْسُونَ وَ حِينَ تُصْبِحُونَ

fasubhan Allahi heena tumsoona wa heena tusbihoon

So glorified is Allah when you enter the evening and when you enter the morning,

وَ لَهُ الْحَمْدُ فِي السَّماواتِ وَ الْأَرْضِ

wa lahu al-hamdu fi as-samawati wa al-ard

and to Him is all praise in the heavens and the earth,

وَ عَشِيًّا وَ حِينَ تُظْهِرُونَ

wa 'ashiyyan wa heena tudhhiroon

and in the evening and when you enter noon.

يُخْرِجُ الْحَيَّ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ

yukhriju al-hayya min al-mayyit

He brings the living out of the dead,

وَ يُخْرِجُ الْمَيِّتَ مِنَ الْحَيِّ

wa yukhriju al-mayyita min al-hayy

and He brings the dead out of the living.

وَ يُحْيِ الْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِها

wa yuhyi al-arda ba'da mautiha

And He gives life to the earth after its death,

وَ كَذلِكَ تُخْرَجُونَ‌ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ‌

wa kadhalika tukhrajoon bismillahi ar-rahmani ar-raheem

and in the same way, you will be brought forth. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ

Allahumma inni a'oodhu bika min sharri hadha al-yawmi

Oh Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of this day,

وَ مِنْ شَرِّ هَذَا الشَّهْرِ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ

wa min sharri hadha ash-shahri wa min sharri hadhihi as-sanati

and from the evil of this month, and from the evil of this year,

وَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا بَعْدَهَا

wa min sharri ma ba'daha

and from the evil of what comes after it.

وَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ جَمِيعِ أَعْدَائِي

wa a'oodhu bika min jamee'i a'da'i

And I seek refuge in You from all my enemies,

أَنْ يَفْرُطُوا عَلَيَّ وَ أَنْ يَطْغَوْا

an yafrutoo 'alayya wa an yatghaw

from their transgressing against me and their tyranny.

وَ أُقَدِّمُ بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ وَ مِنْ خَلْفِي

wa uqaddimu bayna yadayya wa min khalfi

And I put before me and behind me,

وَ عَنْ يَمِينِي وَ عَنْ شِمَالِي

wa 'an yameeni wa 'an shimali

and on my right and on my left,

وَ مِنْ فَوْقِي وَ مِنْ تَحْتِي‌

wa min fawqi wa min tahti

and from above me and from beneath me,

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ

bismillahi ar-rahmani ar-raheem qul huwa Allahu ahad

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Say: He is Allah, the One,

اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَ لَمْ يُولَدْ

Allahu as-samad lam yalid wa lam yoolad

Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He begets not, nor is He begotten,

وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُواً أَحَدٌ

wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad

and there is none comparable to Him.

لِنَفْسِي بِي وَ مُحِيطٌ بِي

li-nafsi bi wa muheetun bi

For myself, in me, and surrounding me,

وَ بِمَالِي وَ وَالِدَيَّ وَ أَوْلَادِي وَ أَهْلِي

wa bi-mali wa walidayya wa awladi wa ahli

and my wealth, my parents, my children, and my family,

وَ جَمِيعِ مَنْ يَعْنِينِي أَمْرُهُ

wa jamee'i man ya'nini amruhu

and everyone whose matter concerns me,

وَ كُلِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ هُوَ لِي

wa kulli shay'in huwa li

and every single thing that is mine,

وَ كُلِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ مَعِي

wa kulli shay'in ma'i

and every single thing that is with me.

تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى‌ الْحَيِّ الَّذِي لَا يَمُوتُ

tawakkaltu 'ala al-hayyi alladhi la yamoot

I have relied upon the Ever-Living, who does not die,

وَ اعْتَصَمْتُ بِعُرْوَةِ اللَّهِ الْوُثْقَى

wa'tasamtu bi-'urwati Allahi al-wuthqa

and I have held on to the most trustworthy handhold of Allah,

الَّتِي‌ لَا انْفِصامَ لَها

allati la infisama laha

which never breaks.

وَ اللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ‌

wa Allahu samee'un 'aleem

And Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ لِي مِنْ قَدَرِكَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ

Allahumma ij'al li min qadarika fi hadhihi as-sanati

Oh Allah, grant me from Your destiny in this year

وَ مَا بَعْدَهَا حُسْنَ عَافِيَتِي وَ سَعَةَ رِزْقِي

wa ma ba'daha husna 'afiyati wa sa'ata rizqi

and what follows it, good well-being and abundant provision,

وَ اكْفِنِي اللَّهُمَّ الْمُهِمَّ مِنْ أُمُورِ الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ

wakfini Allahumma al-muhimma min umuri ad-dunya wa al-akhirah

and suffice me, Oh Allah, from the important matters of this world and the Hereafter.

وَ اعْصِمْنِي أَنْ أُخْطِئَ

wa'simni an ukh'ti'

And protect me from making mistakes,

وَ ارْزُقْنِي خَيْرَ الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ

warzuqni khayra ad-dunya wa al-akhirah

and grant me the good of this world and the Hereafter.

قُلْ مَنْ يَكْلَؤُكُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَ النَّهارِ

qul man yakla'ukum bil-layli wa an-nahar

Say: Who protects you by night and day

مِنَ السَّبُعِ وَ السَّارِقِ وَ الْحَيَّاتِ وَ الْعَقَارِبِ

min as-sabu'i wa as-sariqi wa al-hayyati wa al-'aqarib

from the beast of prey, the thief, snakes, and scorpions,

وَ الْجِنِّ وَ الْإِنْسِ وَ الطَّيْرِ وَ الْوَحْشِ وَ الْهَوَامِّ

wa al-jinni wa al-insi wa at-tayri wa al-wahshi wa al-hawamm

and the jinn, and mankind, and birds, and wild animals, and insects?

قُلِ اللَّهُ وَ جَعَلْنا فِي أَعْناقِهِمْ أَغْلالًا

quli Allahu wa ja'alna fi a'naqihim aghlala

Say: Allah. And We have put shackles on their necks,

فَهِيَ إِلَى الْأَذْقانِ فَهُمْ مُقْمَحُونَ

fa-hiya ila al-adhqani fa-hum muqmahoon

and their heads are raised, so they are fixed.

وَ جَعَلْنا مِنْ بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ سَدًّا

wa ja'alna min bayni aydihim sadda

And We have placed a barrier before them,

وَ مِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ سَدًّا

wa min khalfihim sadda

and a barrier behind them,

فَأَغْشَيْناهُمْ فَهُمْ لا يُبْصِرُونَ‌

fa'aghshaynahum fa-hum la yubsiroon

and We have covered them, so they do not see.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِكَ التَّامَّاتِ كُلِّهَا

Allahumma inni a'oodhu bi-kalimatika at-tammati kulliha

Oh Allah, I seek refuge in all of Your perfect words,

وَ آيَاتِكَ الْمُحْكَمَاتِ مِنْ غَضَبِكَ

wa ayatik al-muhkamat min ghadabika

and Your clear verses, from Your wrath,

وَ مِنْ شَرِّ عِقَابِكَ وَ مِنْ شِرَارِ عِبَادِكَ

wa min sharri 'iqabika wa min shirari 'ibadika

and from the evil of Your punishment, and from the worst of Your servants,

وَ مِنْ هَمَزاتِ الشَّياطِينِ

wa min hamazati ash-shayateen

and from the whispers of the devils.

وَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَنْ يَحْضُرُونِ‌

wa a'oodhu bika rabbi an yahduroon

And I seek refuge in You, my Lord, from their presence.

وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ

wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi al-'aliyyi al-'atheem

And there is no might and no power except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.

وَ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ كَانَ

wa ma sha'a Allahu kan

And what Allah wills, comes to be.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ

Allahumma inni astakheeruka bi-'ilmika

Oh Allah, I seek Your guidance by Your knowledge,

وَ أَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ

wa astaqdiruka bi-qudratika

and I seek power from Your power,

وَ أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيمِ

wa as'aluka min fadlika al-'atheem

and I ask You from Your immense grace.

فَإِنَّكَ تَعْلَمُ وَ تَقْدِرُ وَ لَا أَقْدِرُ

fa'innaka ta'lamu wa taqdiru wa la aqdiru

For You know and You are able, and I am not able,

وَ بِيَدِكَ مَفَاتِيحُ الْخَيْرِ

wa bi-yadika mafateeh al-khayr

and in Your hand are the keys to all good,

وَ أَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ

wa anta 'allamu al-ghuyoob

and You are the Knower of the unseen.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كَانَ مَا أُرِيدُهُ

Allahumma in kana ma ureeduhu

Oh Allah, if what I want

وَ يُرَادُ بِي خَيْراً لِي فِي دِينِي

wa yuradu bi khayran li fi dini

and what is wanted for me is good for me in my religion,

وَ دُنْيَايَ وَ عَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي

wa dunyaya wa 'aqibati amri

my worldly life, and the outcome of my affairs,

فَيَسِّرْهُ لِي وَ بَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ

fayassirhu li wa barik li feehi

then make it easy for me and bless it for me,

وَ اصْرِفْ عَنِّي الْأَذَى فِيهِ

wasrif 'anni al-adha feehi

and turn away from me any harm in it.

وَ إِنْ كَانَ غَيْرُ ذَلِكَ خَيْراً

wa in kana ghayru dhalika khayran

And if something other than that is better,

فَاصْرِفْنِي عَنْهُ إِلَى مَا هُوَ أَصْلَحُ لِي

fasrifni 'anhu ila ma huwa aslahu li

then turn me away from it to what is more righteous for me,

بَدَناً وَ عَافِيَةً فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ

badan wa 'afiyatan fi ad-dunya wa al-akhirah

in body and well-being in this world and the Hereafter.

وَ اقْصِدْنِي إِلَى الْخَيْرِ حَيْثُ مَا كُنْتُ

waqsidni ila al-khayri haythu ma kuntu

And guide me towards good wherever I am,

وَ وَجِّهْنِي إِلَى الْخَيْرِ حَيْثُ مَا تَوَجَّهْتُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ

wa wajjihni ila al-khayri haythu ma tawajjahtu bi-rahmatika

and direct me to good wherever I turn with Your mercy.

وَ أَعْزِزْنِي اللَّهُمَّ بِمَا اسْتَعْزَزْتُ بِهِ

wa a'zizni Allahumma bi-ma ista'zaztu bihi

And strengthen me, Oh Allah, by what I have sought strength from

مِنْ دُعَائِي هَذَا

min du'a'i hadha

in this supplication of mine,

وَ أُقَدِّمُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ نِسْيَانِي وَ عَجَلَتِي‌

wa uqaddimu bayna yadayya nisyani wa 'ajalati

and I put before my forgetfulness and my haste,

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ‌

bismillahi ar-rahmani ar-raheem

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ

wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi al-'aliyyi al-'atheem

And there is no might and no power except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.

وَ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ كَانَ

wa ma sha'a Allahu kan

And what Allah wills, comes to be.

اللَّهُمَّ مَا حَلَفْتُ مِنْ حَلْفٍ

Allahumma ma halaftu min halfin

Oh Allah, whatever oath I have sworn,

أَوْ قُلْتُ مِنْ قَوْلٍ أَوْ نَذَرْتُ مِنْ نَذْرٍ

aw qultu min qawlin aw nadhartu min nadhrin

or whatever word I have spoken, or whatever vow I have made,

فَمَشِيَّتُكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ ذَلِكَ كُلِّهِ

famashiyyatuka bayna yaday dhalika kullihi

Your will is before all of that.

مَا شِئْتَ مِنْهُ كَانَ وَ مَا لَمْ تَشَأْ لَمْ يَكُنْ

ma shi'ta minhu kana wa ma lam tasha' lam yakun

What You willed from it has been, and what You did not will has not been.

اللَّهُمَّ مَا حَلَفْتُ فِي يَوْمِي هَذَا

Allahumma ma halaftu fi yawmi hadha

Oh Allah, whatever oath I have sworn on this day,

أَوْ فِي شَهْرِي هَذَا أَوْ فِي سَنَتِي هَذِهِ

aw fi shahri hadha aw fi sanati hadhihi

or in this month, or in this year,

مِنْ حَلْفٍ أَوْ قُلْتُ مِنْ قَوْلٍ أَوْ نَذَرْتُ مِنْ نَذْرٍ

min halfin aw qultu min qawlin aw nadhartu min nadhrin

of an oath, or a word I have spoken, or a vow I have made,

فَلَا تُؤَاخِذْنِي بِهِ وَ اجْعَلْنِي مِنْهُ فِي سَعَةٍ

fala tu'akhidhni bihi waj'alni minhu fi sa'atin

then do not hold me accountable for it, and grant me ease from it,

وَ فِي اسْتِثْنَاءٍ وَ لَا تُؤَاخِذْنِي بِسُوءِ عَمَلِي

wa fi istithna'in wa la tu'akhidhni bi-soo'i 'amali

and an exception, and do not hold me accountable for my bad deeds,

وَ لَا تَبْلُغْ بِي مَجْهُوداً

wa la tablugh bi majhooda

and do not make me reach my limit.

اللَّهُمَّ وَ مَنْ أَرَادَنِي بِسُوءٍ فِي يَوْمِي هَذَا

Allahumma wa man aradani bi-soo'in fi yawmi hadha

Oh Allah, whoever intends evil for me on this day,

أَوْ فِي شَهْرِي هَذَا أَوْ فِي سَنَتِي هَذِهِ

aw fi shahri hadha aw fi sanati hadhihi

or in this month, or in this year,

فَأَرِدْهُ بِهِ وَ مَنْ كَادَنِي فَكِدْهُ

fa'aridhu bihi wa man kadani fakidhu

then intend evil for them in return, and whoever schemes against me, scheme against them.

وَ افْلُلْ عَنِّي حَدَّ مَنْ نَصَبَ لِي حَدَّهُ

wa-flul 'anni hadda man nasaba li haddahu

And blunt the edge of whoever sharpened their edge against me,

وَ أَطْفِئْ عَنِّي نَارَ مَنْ أَضْرَمَ لِي وَقُودَهَا

wa atfi' 'anni nara man adrama li waqoodaha

and extinguish the fire of whoever ignited its fuel for me.

اللَّهُمَّ وَ اكْفِنِي مَكْرَ الْمَكَرَةِ

Allahumma wakfini makra al-makarah

Oh Allah, suffice me from the plotting of plotters,

وَ افْقَأْ عَنِّي أَعْيُنَ عَيْنِ السَّحَرَةِ

wafqa' 'anni a'yuna 'ayn as-saharati

and blind the eyes of the witches' evil eye,

وَ اعْصِمْنِي مِنْ ذَلِكَ بِالسَّكِينَةِ

wa'simni min dhalika bi-as-sakeenah

and protect me from that with tranquility,

وَ أَلْبِسْنِي دِرْعَكَ الْحَصِينَةَ

wa albisni dir'aka al-haseenah

and clothe me in Your fortified shield,

وَ أَلْزِمْنِي كَلِمَةَ التَّقْوَى الَّتِي أَلْزَمْتَهَا الْمُتَّقِينَ

wa alzimni kalimata at-taqwa allati alzamta-ha al-muttaqeen

and make me adhere to the word of piety that You made the pious adhere to.

اللَّهُمَّ وَ اجْعَلْ دُعَائِي خَالِصاً لَكَ

Allahumma waj'al du'a'i khalisatan laka

Oh Allah, and make my supplication sincere for You,

وَ اجْعَلْنِي أَبْتَغِي بِهِ مَا عِنْدَكَ

waj'alni abtaghi bihi ma 'indaka

and make me seek by it what is with You,

وَ لَا تَجْعَلْنِي أَبْتَغِي بِهِ أَحَداً سِوَاكَ

wa la taj'alni abtaghi bihi ahadan siwaka

and do not make me seek by it anyone other than You.

اللَّهُمَّ يَا رَبِّ جَنِّبْنِي الْعِلَلَ وَ الْهُمُومَ

Allahumma ya rabbi jannibni al-'ilala wa al-humoom

Oh Allah, my Lord, keep away from me ailments and worries,

وَ الْغُمُومَ وَ الْأَحْزَانَ وَ الْأَمْرَاضَ وَ الْأَسْقَامَ

wa al-ghumoom wa al-ahzan wa al-amrad wa al-asqam

and sorrows, and griefs, and diseases, and ailments,

وَ اصْرِفْ عَنِّي السُّوءَ وَ الْفَحْشَاءَ

wasrif 'anni as-soo'a wa al-fahsha'

and turn away from me evil and obscenity,

وَ الْجَهْدَ وَ الْبَلَاءَ وَ التَّعَبَ وَ الْعَنَاءَ

wa al-jahda wa al-bala' wa at-ta'aba wa al-'ana'

and hardship, and affliction, and fatigue, and distress.

إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ الدُّعاءِ قَرِيبٌ مُجِيبٌ

innaka samee'u ad-du'a'i qareebun mujeeb

Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication, near and responsive.

اللَّهُمَّ أَلِنْ لِي أَعْدَائِي وَ مُعَامِلِيَّ

Allahumma alin li a'da'i wa mu'amiliyya

Oh Allah, soften my enemies and my dealers for me,

وَ مُطَالِبِيَّ وَ مَا غَلُظَ عَلَيَّ مِنْ أُمُورِي كُلِّهَا

wa mutalibiyya wa ma ghaludha 'alayya min umuri kulliha

and my claimants, and whatever is difficult for me from all my affairs,

كَمَا أَلَنْتَ الْحَدِيدَ لِدَاوُدَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ

kama alanta al-hadeeda li-Dawuda 'alayhi as-salam

just as You softened iron for David, peace be upon him.

اللَّهُمَّ وَ ذَلِّلْهُمْ لِي

Allahumma wa dhallilhum li

Oh Allah, and subdue them for me

كَمَا ذَلَّلْتَ الْأَنْعَامَ لِوُلْدِ آدَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ

kama dhallalta al-an'am li-wuldi Adam 'alayhi as-salam

just as You subdued the cattle for the children of Adam, peace be upon him.

اللَّهُمَّ وَ سَخِّرْهُمْ لِي

Allahumma wa sakhkhirhum li

Oh Allah, and subject them to me

كَمَا سَخَّرْتَ الطَّيْرَ لِسُلَيْمَانَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ

kama sakhkharta at-tayr li-Sulaymana 'alayhi as-salam

just as You subjected the birds to Solomon, peace be upon him.

اللَّهُمَّ وَ أَلْقِ عَلَيَّ مَحَبَّةً مِنْكَ

Allahumma wa alqi 'alayya mahabbatan minka

Oh Allah, and cast love from You upon me

كَمَا أَلْقَيْتَهَا عَلَى مُوسَى بْنِ عِمْرَانَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ

kama alqaytaha 'ala Moosa bin 'Imran 'alayhi as-salam

just as You cast it upon Moses son of Imran, peace be upon him.

وَ زِدْ فِي جَاهِي وَ سَمْعِي وَ بَصَرِي وَ قُوَّتِي

wa zid fi jahi wa sam'i wa basari wa quwwati

And increase my honor, my hearing, my sight, and my strength,

وَ ارْدُدْ [وَ ازْدَدْ] نِعْمَتَكَ عَلَيَّ

wardud [wazdad] ni'mataka 'alayya

and return [and increase] Your favor upon me,

وَ أَعْطِنِي سُؤْلِي وَ مُنَايَ

wa a'tini su'li wa munaya

and give me my request and my desire,

وَ حَسِّنْ لِي خَلْقِي وَ اجْعَلْنِي مَهُوباً

wa hassin li khulqi waj'alni mahooban

and perfect my character, and make me revered,

مَرْهُوباً مَخُوفاً

marhooban makhoofan

feared, and dreaded.

وَ أَلْقِ لِي فِي قُلُوبِ أَعْدَائِي

wa alqi li fi quloobi a'da'i

And cast for me in the hearts of my enemies,

وَ مُعَامِلِيَّ وَ مُطَالِبِيَّ

wa mu'amiliyya wa mutalibiyya

and my dealers, and my claimants,

الرَّأْفَةَ وَ الرَّحْمَةَ وَ الْمَهَابَةَ

ar-ra'fata wa ar-rahmah wa al-mahabah

clemency, and mercy, and awe,

وَ سَخِّرْهُمْ لِي بِقُدْرَتِكَ

wa sakhkhirhum li bi-qudratika

and subject them to me by Your power.

اللَّهُمَّ يَا كَافِيَ مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فِرْعَوْنَ

Allahumma ya kafiya Moosa 'alayhi as-salam Fir'awn

Oh Allah, O Sufficer of Moses, peace be upon him, from Pharaoh,

وَ يَا كَافِيَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ الْأَحْزَابَ

wa ya kafiya Muhammadin salla Allahu 'alayhi wa alih al-ahzab

and O Sufficer of Muhammad, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him and his family, from the Confederates,

وَ يَا كَافِيَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ نَارَ النُّمْرُودِ

wa ya kafiya Ibraheema 'alayhi as-salam nara an-Numrood

and O Sufficer of Abraham, peace be upon him, from the fire of Nimrod,

صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

salli 'ala Muhammadin wa 'ala ali Muhammad

bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,

وَ اكْفِنِي كُلَّ مَا أَخَافُ وَ أَحْذَرُ

wakfini kulla ma akhafu wa ahdharu

and suffice me from all that I fear and beware of,

بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا رَحْمَانُ يَا رَحِيمُ

bi-rahmatika ya Rahmanu ya Raheem

by Your mercy, O Most Gracious, O Most Merciful.

اللَّهُمَّ يَا دَلِيلَ الْمُتَحَيِّرِينَ

Allahumma ya dalil al-mutahayyireen

Oh Allah, O Guide of the bewildered,

وَ يَا مُفَرِّجُ عَنِ الْمَكْرُوبِينَ

wa ya mufarrij 'ani al-makroobeen

and O Reliever for the distressed,

وَ يَا مُرَوِّحُ عَنِ الْمَغْمُومِينَ

wa ya murawwih 'ani al-maghmoomeen

and O Soother for the grief-stricken,

وَ يَا مُؤَدِّي عَنِ الْمَدْيُونِينَ

wa ya mu'addiyy 'ani al-madyooneen

and O Payer for the debtors,

وَ يَا إِلَهَ الْعَالَمِينَ

wa ya ilaha al-'alameen

and O God of the worlds,

فَرِّجْ كَرْبِي وَ هَمِّي وَ غَمِّي

farrij karbi wa hammi wa ghammi

relieve my distress, my worry, and my grief,

وَ أَدِّ عَنِّي وَ عَنْ كُلِّ مَدْيُونٍ

wa addi 'anni wa 'an kulli madyoonin

and pay off for me and for every debtor,

وَ أَعْطِنِي سُؤْلِي وَ مُنَايَ

wa a'tini su'li wa munaya

and give me my request and my desire,

وَ افْتَحْ لِي مِنْكَ بِخَيْرٍ

waftah li minka bi-khayrin

and open for me from You with good,

وَ اخْتِمْ لِي بِخَيْرٍ

wakhtim li bi-khayrin

and conclude for me with good.

اللَّهُمَّ يَا رَجَائِي وَ عُدَّتِي

Allahumma ya raja'i wa 'uddati

Oh Allah, O my hope and my provision,

لَا تُقْطَعُ مِنْكَ رَجَائِي

la tuqta'u minka raja'i

do not cut off my hope in You,

وَ أَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ

wa aslih li sha'ni kullahu

and rectify for me all my affairs,

وَ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابُ الرِّزْقِ

waftah li abwab ar-rizqi

and open for me the doors of sustenance

مِنْ حَيْثُ أَحْتَسِبُ وَ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا أَحْتَسِبُ

min haythu ahtasibu wa min haythu la ahtasib

from where I expect and from where I do not expect,

وَ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَعْلَمُ وَ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا أَعْلَمُ

wa min haythu a'lamu wa min haythu la a'lam

and from where I know and from where I do not know,

وَ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَرْجُو وَ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا أَرْجُو

wa min haythu arju wa min haythu la arju

and from where I hope and from where I do not hope.

وَ ارْزُقْنِي السَّلَامَةِ وَ الْعَافِيَةَ وَ الْبَرَكَةُ

warzuqni as-salamah wa al-'afiyah wa al-barakah

And grant me safety, well-being, and blessings

فِي جَمِيعِ مَا رَزَقْتَنِي

fi jamee'i ma razaqtani

in everything You have provided me.

وَ خِرْ لِي فِي جَمِيعِ أُمُورِي

wa khir li fi jamee'i umuri

And choose for me in all my affairs

خِيَرَةً فِي عَافِيَةٍ

khieratan fi 'afiyah

a choice in well-being.

وَ كُنْ لِي وَلِيّاً وَ حَافِظاً وَ نَاصِراً

wa kun li waliyyan wa hafizan wa nasiran

And be for me a guardian, a protector, and a helper,

وَ لَقِّنِّي حُجَّتِي

wa laqqinni hujjati

and teach me my proof.

اللَّهُمَّ وَ أَيُّمَا عَبْدٍ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ

Allahumma wa ayyuma 'abdin min 'ibadika

Oh Allah, and any servant from Your servants,

أَوْ أَمَةٍ مِنْ إِمَائِكَ

aw amatin min ima'ika

or any maidservant from Your maidservants,

كَانَتْ لَهُ قِبَلِي مَظْلِمَةٌ

kanat lahu qibali madhlimatun

who had a wrong done to them by me,

ظَلَمْتُهُ بِهَا فِي مَالِهِ أَوْ سَمْعِهِ

dhalamtuhu biha fi malihi aw sam'ihi

a wrong by which I wronged them in their wealth or their hearing,

أَوْ بَصَرِهِ أَوْ قُوَّتِهِ

aw basarihi aw quwwatihi

or their sight, or their strength,

وَ لَا أَسْتَطِيعُ رَدَّهَا عَلَيْهِ

wa la astati'u raddaha 'alayhi

and I am unable to return it to them,

وَ لَا تَحِلَّتَهَا مِنْهُ

wa la tahillataha minhu

and not able to absolve myself from it,

فَأَسْأَلُكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْ تُرْضِيَهُ عَنِّي بِمَا شِئْتَ

fa'as'aluka Allahumma an turdiyahu 'anni bima shi'ta

then I ask You, Oh Allah, to please them with me however You will,

ثُمَّ تَهَبَ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً

thumma tahaba li min ladunka rahmatan

then grant me from Your presence mercy,

يَا وَهَّابَ الْعَطَايَا وَ الْخَيْرِ

ya Wahhaba al-'atayah wa al-khayr

O Giver of gifts and goodness.

اللَّهُمَّ وَ لَا تُخْرِجْنِي مِنَ الدُّنْيَا

Allahumma wa la tukhrijni min ad-dunya

Oh Allah, do not take me out of this world

وَ لِأَحَدٍ فِي رَقَبَتِي تَبِعَةٌ

wa li'ahadin fi raqabati tabi'atun

while anyone has a claim against me,

وَ لَا ذَنْبٌ إِلَّا وَ قَدْ غَفَرْتَ ذَلِكَ لِي

wa la dhanbun illa wa qad ghafarta dhalika li

and no sin except that You have forgiven that for me

بِكَرَمِكَ وَ رَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

bi-karamika wa rahmatika ya Arham ar-Rahimeen

by Your generosity and Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الثَّبَاتَ فِي الْأَمْرِ

Allahumma inni as'aluka ath-thabata fi al-amr

Oh Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in the matter,

وَ الْعَزِيمَةَ عَلَى الرُّشْدِ

wa al-'azeemata 'ala ar-rushd

and determination in righteousness.

وَ أَسْأَلُكَ اللَّهُمَّ يَا رَبِّ شُكْرَ نِعْمَتِكَ

wa as'aluka Allahumma ya rabbi shukra ni'matika

And I ask You, Oh Allah, my Lord, for gratitude for Your blessings,

وَ حُسْنَ عِبَادَتِكَ

wa husna 'ibadatika

and to worship You well.

وَ أَسْأَلُكَ قَلْباً سَلِيماً وَ لِسَاناً صَادِقاً

wa as'aluka qalban saleeman wa lisanan sadiqan

And I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue,

وَ يَقِيناً نَافِعاً وَ رِزْقاً دَارّاً هَنِيئاً

wa yaqeenan nafi'an wa rizqan darran hanee'an

and a beneficial certainty, and a flowing, pleasant provision,

وَ رَحْمَةً أَنَالُ بِهَا شَرَفَ كَرَامَتِكَ

wa rahmatan analu biha sharafa karamatika

and mercy by which I attain the honor of Your nobility

فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

fi ad-dunya wa al-akhirah ya Arham ar-Rahimeen

in this world and the Hereafter, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَافِيَةَ

Allahumma inni as'aluka al-'afiyah

Oh Allah, I ask You for well-being,

عَافِيَةً تَتْبَعُهَا عَافِيَةٌ شَافِيَةٌ كَافِيَةٌ

'afiyatan tatba'uha 'afiyatun shafiyatun kafiyah

a well-being that is followed by a well-being, healing and sufficient,

عَافِيَةَ الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ

'afiyata ad-dunya wa al-akhirah

the well-being of this world and the Hereafter.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ يَا سَيِّدِي وَ مَوْلَايَ

Allahumma inni as'aluka ya sayyidi wa mawlaya

Oh Allah, I ask You, O my master and patron,

أَنْ تَكُونَ لِي سَنَداً وَ مُسْتَنَداً

an takuna li sanadan wa mustanadan

to be for me a support and a relied-upon,

وَ عِمَاداً وَ مُعْتَمَداً

wa 'imadan wa mu'tamadan

and a pillar and a trusted one,

وَ ذُخْراً وَ مُدَّخَراً

wa dhukhran wa muddakhara

and a provision and a stored treasure.

وَ لَا تُخَيِّبْ أَمَلِي

wa la tukhayyib amali

And do not disappoint my hope,

وَ لَا تَقْطَعْ رَجَائِي

wa la taqta' raja'i

and do not cut off my expectation,

وَ لَا تُجْهِدْ بَلَائِي

wa la tujhid bala'i

and do not make my affliction severe,

وَ لَا تُسِئْ قَضَائِي

wa la tusi' qada'i

and do not make my decree bad,

وَ لَا تُشْمِتْ بِي أَعْدَائِي

wa la tushmit bi a'da'i

and do not make my enemies rejoice at my misfortune.

اللَّهُمَّ ارْضَ عَنِّي بِرِضَاكَ

Allahumma irda 'anni bi-ridaka

Oh Allah, be pleased with me with Your pleasure,

وَ عَافِنِي مِنْ جَمِيعِ بَلْوَاكَ

wa 'afini min jamee'i balwaka

and grant me well-being from all Your trials.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ يَا اللَّهُ يَا أَكْبَرُ مِنْ كُلِّ كَبِيرٍ

Allahumma inni as'aluka ya Allahu ya akbaru min kulli kabeer

Oh Allah, I ask You, O Allah, O Greatest of all great,

يَا مَنْ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَ لَا وَزِيرَ

ya man la shareeka lahu wa la wazeer

O He who has no partner and no minister,

يَا خَالِقَ الشَّمْسِ وَ الْقَمَرِ الْمُنِيرِ

ya khaliqa ash-shamsi wa al-qamari al-muneer

O Creator of the sun and the illuminating moon,

يَا رَازِقَ الطِّفْلِ الصَّغِيرِ

ya raziqa at-tifli as-saghir

O Provider for the small child,

يَا مُغْنِيَ الْبَائِسِ الْفَقِيرِ

ya mughniya al-ba'isi al-faqeer

O Enricher of the miserable poor,

يَا مُغِيثَ الْمُمْتَهَنِ الضَّرِيرِ

ya mugheetha al-mumtahani ad-dhareer

O Helper of the afflicted and the blind,

يَا مُطْلِقَ الْمُكَبَّلِ الْأَسِيرِ

ya mutliqa al-mukabbali al-aseer

O Releaser of the shackled captive,

يَا جَابِرَ الْعَظْمِ الْكَسِيرِ

ya jabira al-'adhmi al-kaseer

O Mender of the broken bone,

يَا قَاصِمَ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ مُتَكَبِّرٍ

ya qasima kulli jabbarin mutakabbir

O Destroyer of every arrogant tyrant,

يَا مُحْيِيَ الْعِظَامِ‌ وَ هِيَ رَمِيمٌ‌

ya muhyiya al-'itham wa hiya rameem

O Reviver of bones when they are dust,

يَا مَنْ لَا نِدَّ لَهُ وَ لَا شَبِيهَ

ya man la nidda lahu wa la shabeeh

O He who has no equal and no likeness.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ

Allahumma inni as'aluka an tusalliya 'ala Muhammadin

Oh Allah, I ask You to bless Muhammad

وَ [عَلَى‌] آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

wa ['ala] ali Muhammad

and the family of Muhammad.

وَ أَسْأَلُكَ يَا إِلَهِي بِكُلِّ مَا دَعَوْتُكَ بِهِ

wa as'aluka ya ilahi bi-kulli ma da'awtuka bihi

And I ask you, O my God, by everything with which I have supplicated to You

مِنْ هَذَا الدُّعَاءِ

min hadha ad-du'a'i

from this prayer,

وَ بِجَمِيعِ أَسْمَائِكَ كُلِّهَا

wa bi-jamee'i asma'ika kulliha

and by all of Your names entirely,

وَ بِمَعَاقِدِ الْعِزِّ مِنْ عَرْشِكَ

wa bi-ma'aqidi al-'izzi min 'arshika

and by the foundations of glory from Your Throne,

وَ مُنْتَهَى الرَّحْمَةِ مِنْ كِتَابِكَ

wa muntaha ar-rahmati min kitabika

and the utmost mercy from Your book,

وَ بِجَدِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَ بِكَ

wa bi-jaddika al-a'la wa bika

and by Your highest majesty and by You,

فَلَا شَيْ‌ءَ أَعْظَمُ مِنْكَ

fa-la shay'a a'dhamu minka

for nothing is greater than You,

أَنْ تَغْفِرَ لَنَا وَ تَرْحَمَنَا

an taghfira lana wa tarhamana

that You forgive us and have mercy on us,

فَإِنَّا إِلَى رَحْمَتِكَ فُقَرَاءُ

fa'inna ila rahmatika fuqara'u

for we are in need of Your mercy,

يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

ya Arham ar-Rahimeen

O Most Merciful of the merciful.

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَ لِوَالِدَيَّ

Allahumma ighfir li wa li-walidayya

Oh Allah, forgive me and my parents,

وَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ

wa li-al-mu'mineena wa al-mu'minat

and the believing men and believing women,

وَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَ الْمُسْلِمَاتِ

wa al-muslimeena wa al-muslimat

and the Muslim men and Muslim women,

الْأَحْيَاءِ مِنْهُمْ وَ الْأَمْوَاتِ

al-ahya'i minhum wa al-amwat

the living from them and the dead.

وَ اجْمَعْ بَيْنَنَا وَ بَيْنَهُمْ فِي الْخَيْرَاتِ

wajma' baynana wa baynahum fi al-khayrat

And unite us and them in goodness.

وَ اكْفِنِي اللَّهُمَّ يَا رَبِّي

wakfini Allahumma ya Rabbi

And suffice me, Oh Allah, my Lord,

مَا لَا يَكْفِينِيهِ أَحَدٌ سِوَاكَ

ma la yakfinihi ahadun siwaka

in what no one but You can suffice me,

وَ اقْضِ لِي جَمِيعَ حَوَائِجِي

waqdi li jamee'a hawa'iji

and fulfill for me all my needs,

وَ أَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ

wa aslih li sha'ni kullahu

and rectify for me all my affairs,

وَ سَهِّلْ لِي مَحَابِّي كُلَّهَا فِي يُسْرٍ مِنْكَ

wa sahhil li mahabbi kullaha fi yusrin minka

and make easy for me all my desires with ease from You

وَ عَافِيَةٍ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

wa 'afiyah ya Arham ar-Rahimeen

and well-being, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ

wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi al-'aliyyi al-'atheem

And there is no might and no power except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.

مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ كَانَ

ma sha'a Allahu kan

What Allah wills, comes to be.

وَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ وَ آلِهِ

wa salla Allahu 'ala Muhammadin an-nabiyyi wa alihi

And may Allah bless Muhammad the Prophet and his family,

وَ سَلَّمَ كَثِيراً

wa sallama katheera

and grant them abundant peace.

مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ كَانَ

ma sha'a Allahu kan

What Allah wills, comes to be.

مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ

ma sha'a Allahu la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah

What Allah wills; there is no might and no power except with Allah.

مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ

ma sha'a Allahu tawakkaltu 'ala Allah

What Allah wills; I have relied upon Allah.

مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ فَوَّضْتُ أَمْرِي إِلَى اللَّهِ

ma sha'a Allahu fawwadtu amri ila Allah

What Allah wills; I have entrusted my affair to Allah.

مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ وَ كَفَى.

ma sha'a Allahu hasbiya Allahu wa kafa

What Allah wills; Allah is sufficient for me, and He suffices.

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ مَالَاْ الْمِيزَانِ

Subh'anallahi maal-al mizaan

Glory be to Allah the Supreme Balance.

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ مُنْتَهَى الْحِلْمِ

Subh'anallahi muntahal h'ilm

Glory be to Allah the Ultimate in Gentleness.

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ مُبْلَغَ الرِّضَا

Subhanallahi mublaghar riz'aa

Glory be to Allah the Goal of Devotedness.

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ زِينَةَ الْعَرْشِ

Subhanallahi zinatal a'rsh

Glory be to Allah the Splendor of the Arsh.

اَللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ ٱلإِلٰهُ ٱلْقَدِيمُ

allahumma anta al-ilahu alqadimu

O Allah, You are the Eternal God

وَهٰذِهِ سَنَةٌ جَدِيدَةٌ

wa hadhihi sanatun jadidatun

and this is a new year;

فَأَسْأَلُكَ فِيهَا ٱلْعِصْمَةَ مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَانِ

fa-as'aluka fiha al`ismata mina alshshaytani

I therefore request Your safety from Satan,

وَٱلْقُوَّةَ عَلَىٰ هٰذِهِ ٱلنَّفْسِ ٱلأَمَّارَةِ بِٱلسُّوءِ

walquwwata `ala hadhihi alnnafsi al-ammarati bilssu'i

control over my self, which is inclined to sinning,

وَٱلاِﹾشْتِغَالَ بِمَا يُقَرِّبُنِي إِلَيْكَ يَا كَرِيمُ

walishtighala bima yuqarribuni ilayka ya karimu

engagement in all that which draws me near You, O All-generous!

يَا ذَا ٱلْجَلاَلِ وَٱلإِكْرَامِ

ya dha aljalali wal-ikrami

O Lord of majesty and honor!

يَا عِمَادَ مَنْ لاَ عِمَادَ لَهُ

ya `imada man la `imada lahu

O Supporter of him who has no supporter!

يَا ذَخِيرَةَ مَنْ لا ذَخِيرَةَ لَهُ

ya dhakhirata man la dhakhirata lahu

O Provider of him who has no provisions!

يَا حِرْزَ مَنْ لاَ حِرْزَ لَهُ

ya hirza man la hirza lahu

O Shelter of him who has no shelter!

يَا غِيَاثَ مَنْ لاَ غِيَاثَ لَهُ

ya ghiyatha man la ghiyatha lahu

O He who comes to help him who has no hope of help!

يَا سَنَدَ مَنْ لاَ سَنَدَ لَهُ

ya sanada man la sanada lahu

O Reliance for him who has no one to lean upon!

يَا كَنْزَ مَنْ لاَ كَنْزَ لَهُ

ya kanza man la kanza lahu

O Treasure of him who has nothing in the purse!

يَا حَسَنَ ٱلْبَلاَءِ

ya hasana albala'i

O He who knows well how to put to test and trial!

يَا عَظِيمَ ٱلرَّجَاءِ

ya `azima alrraja'i

O Ultimate Hope!

يَا عِزَّ ٱلضُّعَفَاءِ

ya `izza alddu`afa'i

O Strength of the weak!

يَا مُنْقِذَ ٱلْغَرْقَىٰ

ya munqidha algharqa

O Rescuer of the drowning!

يَا مُنْجِيَ ٱلْهَلْكَىٰ

ya munjiya alhalka

O He who saves from destruction!

يَا مُنْعِمُ يَا مُجْمِلُ

ya mun`imu ya mujmilu

O All-benefactor! O All-munificent!

يَا مُفْضِلُ يَا مُحْسِنُ

ya mufdilu ya muhsinu

O All-favorer! O All-benevolent!

أَنْتَ ٱلَّذِي سَجَدَ لَكَ سَوَادُ ٱللَّيْلِ وَنُورُ ٱلنَّهَارِ

anta alladhi sajada laka sawadu allayli wa nuru alnnahari

You are He before Whom prostrate in adoration the blackness of the night and the brightness of the day,

وَضَوْءُ ٱلْقَمَرِ وَشُعَاعُ ٱلشَّمْسِ

wa daw'u alqamari wa shu`a`u alshshamsi

the moonlight, the sunlight,

وَدَوِيُّ ٱلْمَاءِ وَحَفِيفُ ٱلشَّجَرِ

wa dawiyyu alma'i wa hafifu alshshajari

the ripple of the water, and the rustling of the trees!

يَا اللَّهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَكَ

ya allahu la sharika laka

O Allah! There is no associate with You!

اَللَّهُمَّ ٱجْعَلْنَا خَيْراً مِمَّا يَظُنُّونَ

allahumma ij`alna khayran mimma yazunnuna

O Allah! (Please do) cause us to be better than what they think of us!

وَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا مَا لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ

waghfir lana ma la ya`lamuna

Forgive us that which they do not know!

وَلاَ تُؤَاخِذْنَا بِمَا يَقُولُونَ

wa la tu'akhidhna bima yaquluna

Do not blame us for what they say!

حَسْبِيَ ٱللَّهُ لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ

hasbiya allahu la ilaha illa huwa

Sufficient is Allah (for me). There is no god save Him,

عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

`alayhi tawakkaltu wa huwa rabbu al`arshi al`azimi

On Him do I rely, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.

آمَنَّا بِهِ كُلٌّ مِنْ عِنْدِ رَبِّنَا

amanna bihi kullun min `indi rabbina

We believe in it! It is all from our Lord!

وَمَا يَذَّكَّرُ إِلاَّ أُوْلُوٱ ٱلأَلْبَابِ

wa ma yadhdhakkaru illa ulu al-albabi

None do mind except those having understanding.

رَبَّنَا لاَ تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا

rabbana la tuzigh qulubana ba`da idh hadaytana

Our Lord, make not our hearts deviate after You have guided us aright,

وَهَبْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ ٱلْوَهَّابُ

wa hab lana min ladunka rahmatan innaka anta alwahhabu

and grant us mercy from You; surely, You are the most liberal Giver.
