Duas duarng and After Salat al-Layl (namaz-e-shab) on 15th Shaban

إلهِي تَعَرَّضَ لَكَ فِي هذَا اللَّيْلِ الْمُتَعَرِّضُونَ،

ilahy ta`arrada laka fi hadha allayli almuta`arriduna

O Allah: tonight the seekers of favors, restless and eager, present themselves to You;

وَقَصَدَكَ الْقَاصِدُونَ،

wa qasadaka alqasiduna

the determined aspirers have You in mind;

وَأَمَّلَ فَضْلَكَ وَمَعْرُوفَكَ الطَّالِبُونَ،

wa ammla fadlaka wa ma`rufaka alttalibuna

those who make requests look long and attentively at Your obligingness and kindness;

وَلَكَ فِي هذَا اللَّيْلِ نَفَحَاتٌ وَجَوَائِزُ

wa laka fi hadha allayli nafahatun wa jawa’izu

You, in this night, give gifts, bounties beyond measure,

وَعَطَايَا وَمَوَاهِبُ

wa `ataya wa mawahibu

free donations, and favors,

تَمُنُّ بِهَا عَلَى مَنْ تَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ،

tamunnu biha `ala man tasha‘u min `ibadika

to those whom You will from among Your servants when they make a request,

وَتَمْنَعُهَا مَنْ لَمْ تَسْبِقْ لَهُ الْعِنَايَةُ مِنْكَ،

wa tamna`uha man lam tasbiq lahu al`inaiyatu minka

and say no to those who do not try to get in advance (remain behind) for obtaining the bounties from You.

وَهَا أَنَا ذَا عُبَيْدُكَ الْفَقِيرُ إلَيْكَ

wa ha ana dha `ubayduka alfaqiru ilayka

I, a modest needy bondman,

الْمُؤَمِّلُ فَضْلَكَ وَمَعْرُوفَكَ،

almu´ammilu fadlaka wa ma`rufaka

am hopeful of Your obligingness and kindness.

فَإنْ كُنْتَ يَا مَوْلايَ تَفَضَّلْتَ فِي هذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

fain kunta ya mawlaiya tafaddalta fi hadhihi allaylati `ala ahadin min khalqika

Indeed if You, O My Master, bestows a favor on any one, in this night, from among Your created beings,

وَعُدْتَ عَلَيْهِ بِعَائِدَةٍ مِنْ عَطْفِكَ

wa `udta `alayhi bi`a’idatin min `atfika

and multiply profits and gains for him out of love and affection,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

fasalli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

please send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad:

الطَّيِّبِينَ الطَّاهِرِينَ الْخَيِّرِينَ الْفَاضِلِينَ،

alttiyyibina alttahirina alkhayyrina alfadilina

the pure, the immaculate, the virtuous, and the righteous;

وَجُدْ عَلَيَّ بِطَوْلِكَ وَمَعْرُوفِكَ

wa jud `alayya bitawlika wa ma`rufika

and then let me have enough and be contented on account of Your liberality and obligingness,

يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ،

ya rabba al`alamina

O Lord of the worlds!

وَصَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّينَ

wa salla allahu `ala muhammadin khatami alnnabiyyina

May Allah send blessings upon Muhammad, the seal of the Prophets,

وَآلِهِ الطَّاهِرِينَ

wa alihi alttahirina

and upon his Household, the immaculate,

وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِيماً

wa sallama tasliman

and may He exalt them very much.

إنَّ اللّهَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ.

inn allaha hamidun majidun

verily, Allah is worthy of all praise, full of all glory.

اللّهُمَّ إنِّي أَدْعُوكَ كَمَا أَمَرْتَ

allahumma inni ad`uka kama amarta

O Allah: I am praying You as You ordered me to do,

فَاسْتَجِبْ لِي كَمَا وَعَدْتَ

fastajib li kama wa`adta

So, (please) respond to me as You promised.

إنَّكَ لا تُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ.

innaka la tukhlifu almi`ada

verily, You never break Your promise.

سَجَدَ لَكَ سَوَادِي وَخَيَالِي،

sajada laka sawady wa khayali

Prostrating before You are my body and my shadow

وَآمَنَ بِكَ فُؤَادِي،

wa amana bika fu´adi

and my heart is in full faith of You

هذِهِ يَدَايَ وَمَا جَنَيْتُهُ عَلَى نَفْسِي،

hadhihi yadaiya wa ma janaytuhu `ala nafsi

These are my two hands and this is what I have committed against myself,

يَا عَظِيمُ تُرْجَى لِكُلِّ عَظِيمٍ

ya `azimu turja likulli `azimin

O the All-great: You are hoped for all enormous things;

اغْفِرْ لِيَ الْعَظِيمَ

aghfir liya al`azima

Please, forgive me my serious offences

فَإنَّهُ لا يَغْفِرُ الذَّنْبَ الْعَظِيمَ إلاَّ الرَّبُّ الْعَظِيمُ.

fa’innhu la yaghfiru aldhdhanba al`azima illa alrrabbu al`azimu

because none can forgive the serious sin except the All-great Lord.

The Holy Prophet (a.s) then raised his head and then prostrated himself again, saying:

.

.

أَعُوذُ بِنُورِ وَجْهِكَ الَّذِي أَضَاءَتْ لَهُ السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالأَرَضُونَ،

a`udhu binuri wa jhika alladhy ada‘at lahu alssamawatu wal-araduna

I seek the protection of the light of Your Face that has lit the heavens and the earth

وَانْكَشَفَتْ لَهُ الظُّلُمَاتُ،

wankashafat lahu alzzulumatu

and has removed all darkness

وَصَلَحَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْرُ الأَوَّلِينَ وَالآخِرِينَ

wa salaha `alayhi amru al-awwalina wal-akhirina

and has made active all the affairs of the past and the coming generations

مِنْ فُجْأَةِ نَقِمَتِكَ،

min fuj-ati naqimatika

against Your sudden chastisement

وَمِنْ تَحْوِيلِ عَافِيَتِكَ،

wa min tahwili `afiyatika

and against withdrawing the good health that You have granted me

وَمِنْ زَوَالِ نِعْمَتِكَ.

wa min zawal-i ni`matika

and against the vanishing of Your bounties.

اللّهُمَّ ارْزُقْنِي قَلْباً تَقِيّاً نَقِيّاً

allahumma arzuqny qalban taqiyyan naqiyyan

O Allah: (please) grant me a heart that is pious and pure,

وَمِنَ الشِّرْكِ بَرِيئاً

wa mina alshshirki bari’an

and is released from polytheism,

لا كَافِراً وَلا شَقِيّاً.

la kafiran wa la shaqiyyan

and is neither atheist nor unhappy.

The Holy Prophet (a.s) then attached his face to the ground and said:

.

.

عَفَّرْتُ وَجْهِي فِي التُّرَابِ

`affartu wajhy fi altturabi

I am putting my face on the ground

وَحُقَّ لِي أَنْ أَسْجُدَ لَكَ

wa huqqa li an asjuda laka

and it is my duty to prostrate myself before You

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ شَجَرَةِ النُّبُوَّةِ وَ مَوْضِعِ الرِّسَالَةِ

Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammadin wa Aali Muhammad, shajaratin-nubuwwati wa mawdi‘ir-risalah.

O Allah! Send blessings upon Muhammad and his progeny, the tree of Prophethood and the position of the Prophetic mission.

وَ مُخْتَلَفِ الْمَلَائِكَةِ وَ مَعْدِنِ الْعِلْمِ وَ أَهْلِ بَيْتِ الْوَحْيِ

Wa mukhtalafil-mala’ikati wa ma‘dinil-‘ilmi wa Ahlal-Baytil-wahy.

And the place where angels descend, the source of knowledge, and the Household of revelation.

وَ أَعْطِنِي فِي هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ أُمْنِيَّتِي وَ تَقَبَّلْ وَسِيلَتِي

Wa a‘tinī fī hādhihi al-laylati umniyyatī wa taqabbal wasīlatī.

Grant me my wish on this night and accept my supplication.

فَإِنِّي بِمُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلِيٍّ وَ أَوْصِيَائِهِمَا إِلَيْكَ أَتَوَسَّلُ وَ عَلَيْكَ أَتَوَكَّلُ

Fa innī bi-Muhammadin wa ‘Aliyyin wa awsiyā’ihimā ilayka atawassalu wa ‘alayka atawakkalu.

For indeed, I seek intercession through Muhammad, Ali, and their successors, upon You do I rely.

وَ لَكَ أَسْأَلُ يَا مُجِيبَ الْمُضْطَرِّينَ يَا مَلْجَأَ الْهَارِبِينَ

Wa laka as’alu yā Mujībal-mudtarrīn, yā malja’al-hāribīn.

And to You, I ask, O Answerer of the distressed, O refuge of the fugitives.

وَ مُنْتَهَى رَغْبَةِ الرَّاغِبِينَ وَ نَيْلِ الطَّالِبِينَ

Wa muntahā raghbatir-rāghibīn wa naylit-tālibīn.

The ultimate desire of those who seek and the grantor of requests.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَاةً كَثِيرَةً طَيِّبَةً

Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammadin wa Aali Muhammad salātan kathīratan tayyibah.

O Allah! Send abundant and pure blessings upon Muhammad and his progeny.

تَكُونُ لَكَ رِضًا وَ لِحَقِّهِمْ قَضَاءً

Takūnu laka ridan wa lihaqqihim qadhā’an.

That pleases You and fulfills their due rights.

اللَّهُمَّ اعْمُرْ قَلْبِي بِطَاعَتِكَ وَ لَا تُخْزِنِي بِمَعْصِيَتِكَ

Allahumma a‘mur qalbī bi-tā‘atik wa lā tukhzinī bi-ma‘ṣiyatik.

O Allah! Fill my heart with Your obedience and do not disgrace me through disobedience.

وَ ارْزُقْنِي مُوَاسَاةَ مَنْ قَتَّرْتَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ رِزْقِكَ

Wa arzuqnī muwāsāta man qattarta ‘alayhi min rizqik.

Grant me the ability to support those whose sustenance You have limited.

بِمَا وَسَّعْتَ عَلَيَّ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ فَإِنَّكَ وَاسِعُ الْفَضْلِ

Bimā wassa‘ta ‘alayya min faḍlik fa innaka wāsi‘ul-faḍl.

With the abundance You have granted me from Your grace, for indeed You are Most Generous.

وَازِعُ الْعَدْلِ لِكُلِّ خَيْرٍ أَهْلٌ

Wāzi‘ul-‘adli likulli khayrin ahl.

The One who upholds justice and is worthy of all goodness.

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الْمَدْعُوُّ وَ أَنْتَ الْمَرْجُوُّ وَ رَازِقُ الْخَيْرِ وَ كَاشِفُ السُّوءِ

Allahumma Antal-mad‘ū wa Antal-marjū wa rāziqul-khayri wa kāshifus-sū’.

O Allah! You are the One who is called upon, the One who is hoped for, the Provider of goodness, and the Remover of affliction.

الْغَفَّارُ ذُو الْعَفْوِ الرَّفِيعِ وَ الدُّعَاءِ السَّمِيعِ

Al-Ghaffāru Dhul-‘Afwi ar-Rafī‘, wa ad-du‘ā’is-samī‘.

The Most Forgiving, the Possessor of Pardon, the Exalted, and the Hearer of supplications.

أَسْأَلُكَ فِي هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ الْإِجَابَةَ وَ حُسْنَ الْإِنَابَةِ

As’aluka fī hādhihil-laylati al-ijābata wa husnal-inābah.

I ask You on this night for an answered prayer and sincere return to You.

وَ التَّوْبَةَ وَ الْأَوْبَةَ وَ خَيْرَ مَا قَسَمْتَ فِيهَا

Wa at-tawbata wa al-awbata wa khayra mā qasamta fīhā.

For repentance, turning back to You, and the best of what You have decreed in it.

وَ فَرَقْتَ مِنْ كُلِّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ

Wa faraqta min kulli amrin ḥakīm.

And from every wise decree that You have determined.

فَأَنْتَ بِحَالِي زَعِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ وَ لِي وَ بِي‌ رَحِيمٌ

Fa Anta bi-ḥālī za‘īmun ‘alīmun, waliyyun wa bī raḥīm.

For You are fully aware of my condition, my Guardian, and Most Merciful to me.

امْنُنْ عَلَيَّ بِمَا مَنَنْتَ بِهِ عَلَى الْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ

Umnun ‘alayya bimā mananta bihi ‘alal-mustad‘afīna min ‘ibādik.

Bestow upon me what You have granted to the oppressed among Your servants.

وَ اجْعَلْنِي مِنَ الْوَارِثِينَ وَ فِي جِوَارِكَ مِنَ اللَّابِثِينَ

Wa aj‘alnī minal-wārithīn wa fī jawārika minal-lābithīn.

And make me among the inheritors, residing near You for eternity.

فِي دَارِ الْقَرَارِ وَ مَحَلِّ الْأَخْيَارِ

Fī dāril-qarāri wa maḥallil-akhyār.

In the abode of permanence and the dwelling of the righteous.

سُبْحَانَ الْوَاحِدِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُهُ

Subḥānal-wāḥid alladhī lā ilāha ghayruh.

Glory be to the One, there is no god but Him.

الْقَدِيمِ الَّذِي لَا بَدْءَ لَهُ الدَّائِمِ الَّذِي لَا نَفَادَ لَهُ

Al-qadīmil-ladhī lā bad’a lah, ad-dā’im alladhī lā nafāda lah.

The Eternal, who has no beginning, the Everlasting, who never ends.

الدَّائِبِ الَّذِي لَا فَرَاغَ لَهُ الْحَيِّ الَّذِي لَا يَمُوتُ

Ad-dā’ib alladhī lā farāgha lah, al-ḥayy alladhī lā yamūt.

The Constant, who is never unoccupied, the Living, who does not die.

خَالِقِ مَا يُرَى‌ وَ مَا لَا يُرَى

Khāliqi mā yurā wa mā lā yurā.

The Creator of what is seen and what is unseen.

عَالِمِ كُلِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ بِغَيْرِ تَعْلِيمٍ

‘Ālimi kulli shay’in bighayri ta‘līm.

The Knower of all things without being taught.

السَّابِقِ فِي عِلْمِهِ مَا يَهْجُسُ الْمَرْءُ فِي وَهْمِهِ‌

As-sābiqi fī ‘ilmihī mā yahjusu al-mar’u fī wahmih.

The One whose knowledge precedes whatever a person imagines in his mind.

سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى‌ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ‌

Subḥānahu wa ta‘ālā ‘ammā yushrikūn.

Glory be to Him, and Exalted is He above what they associate with Him.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ سُؤَالَ مُعْتَرِفٍ بِبَلَائِكَ الْقَدِيمِ

Allāhumma innī as’aluka su’āla mu‘tarifin bibalā’ikal-qadīm.

O Allah! I ask You as one who acknowledges Your ancient trials.

وَ نَعْمَائِكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ خَيْرِ أَنْبِيَائِكَ

Wa na‘mā’ika an tuṣalliya ‘alā Muḥammad khayri anbiyā’ik.

And Your blessings, that You bestow prayers upon Muhammad, the best of Your prophets.

وَ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ أَصْفِيَائِكَ وَ أَحِبَّائِكَ

Wa ahli baytihi aṣfiyā’ika wa aḥibbā’ik.

And his household, Your chosen ones and beloved ones.

وَ أَنْ تُبَارِكَ لِي فِي لِقَائِكَ

Wa an tubārika lī fī liqā’ika.

And that You bless me in my meeting with You.

يَا كَاشِفَ الْكَرْبِ وَ مُذَلِّلَ كُلِّ صَعْبٍ

Yā Kāshifal-karb wa mudhallila kulli ṣa‘b.

O Remover of distress and Subduer of every hardship.

وَ مُبْتَدِئَ النِّعَمِ قَبْلَ اسْتِحْقَاقِهَا

Wa mubtadi’an-ni‘am qabla istiḥqāqihā.

And the One who initiates blessings before they are deserved.

وَ يَا مَنْ مَفْزَعُ الْخَلْقِ إِلَيْهِ وَ تَوَكُّلُهُمْ عَلَيْهِ

Wa yā man mafza‘ul-khalqi ilayhi wa tawakkuluhum ‘alayh.

O He to whom creation flees for refuge and upon whom they rely.

أَمَرْتَ بِالدُّعَاءِ وَ ضَمِنْتَ الْإِجَابَةَ

Amarta bid-du‘ā’i wa ḍaminta al-ijābah.

You commanded supplication and guaranteed the response.

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

Faṣalli ‘alā Muḥammad wa āli Muḥammad.

So bestow blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.

وَ ابْدَأْ بِهِمْ فِي كُلِّ خَيْرٍ

Wa ibda’ bihim fī kulli khayr.

And begin with them in every goodness.

وَ افْرِجِ هَمِّي وَ ارْزُقْنِي بَرْدَ عَفْوِكَ

Wa afrij hammī wa arzuqnī barda ‘afwik.

Relieve my distress and grant me the coolness of Your pardon.

وَ حَلَاوَةَ ذِكْرِكَ وَ شُكْرَكَ وَ انْتِظَارَ أَمْرِكَ

Wa ḥalāwata dhikrik wa shukrik wa intizāra amrik.

And the sweetness of Your remembrance, gratitude, and awaiting Your command.

انْظُرْ إِلَيَّ نَظْرَةً رَحِيمَةً مِنْ نَظَرَاتِكَ

Unẓur ilayya naẓratan raḥīmatan min naẓarātik.

Look upon me with a merciful glance from among Your glances.

وَ أَحْيِنِي مَا أَحْيَيْتَنِي مَوْفُوراً مَسْتُوراً

Wa aḥyinī mā aḥyaytanī mawfūran mastūrā.

And let me live as long as You keep me alive, in abundance and protected.

وَ اجْعَلِ الْمَوْتَ لِي جَذَلًا وَ سُرُوراً

Wa aj‘alil-mawta lī jadhalan wa surūrā.

And make death for me a joy and a delight.

وَ اقْدِرْ لِي وَ لَا تُقَتِّرْ فِي حَيَاتِي

Wa aqdir lī wa lā tuqattir fī ḥayātī.

Grant me sustenance and do not restrict my provision.

إِلَى حِينِ وَفَاتِي حَتَّى أَلْقَاكَ مِنَ الْعَيْشِ سَئِماً

Ilā ḥīni wafātī ḥattā alqāka minal-‘ayshi sā’iman.

Until the time of my death, so that I meet You weary of this life.

وَ إِلَى الْآخِرَةِ قَرِماً

Wa ilal-ākhirati qariman.

And longing for the Hereafter.

إِنَّكَ عَلى‌ كُلِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Innaka ‘alā kulli shay’in qadīr.

Indeed, You have power over all things.

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَ‌ الشَّفْعِ وَ الْوَتْرِ وَ اللَّيْلِ إِذا يَسْرِ

Allāhumma Rabba ash-shaf‘ wa al-watr wa al-layli idhā yasr.

O Allah, Lord of the even and the odd, and the night as it passes.

بِحَقِّ هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ الْمَقْسُومِ فِيهَا بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ مَا تَقْسِمُ

Biḥaqqi hādhihi al-laylati al-maqsūm fīhā bayna ‘ibādika mā taqsim.

By the right of this night in which You distribute among Your servants what You will.

وَ الْمَحْتُومِ فِيهَا مَا تَحْتِمُ

Wa al-maḥtūm fīhā mā taḥtim.

And that which is decreed in it, as You ordain.

أَجْزِلْ فِيهَا قِسَمِي

Ajzil fīhā qismī.

Grant me an abundant share in it.

وَ لَا تُبَدِّلِ اسْمِي وَ لَا تُغَيِّرْ جِسْمِي

Wa lā tubaddil ismī wa lā tughayyir jismī.

Do not change my name, nor alter my body.

وَ لَا عَنِ الرُّشْدِ عَمًى

Wa lā ‘ani ar-rushdi ‘amā.

And do not lead me away from guidance into blindness.

وَ اخْتِمْ لِي بِالسَّعَادَةِ وَ الْقَبُولِ

Wa akhtim lī bis-sa‘ādati wa al-qabūl.

Seal my fate with happiness and acceptance.

يَا خَيْرَ مَرْغُوبٍ إِلَيْهِ وَ مَسْئُولٍ

Yā khayra marghūbin ilayhi wa mas’ūl.

O the best One to whom we turn and from whom we ask.

اللَّهُمَّ يَا مَنْ شَأْنُهُ الْكِفَايَةُ وَ سُرَادِقُهُ الرِّعَايَةُ

Allāhumma yā man shā’nuhu al-kifāyah wa surādīquhu ar-ri‘āyah.

O Allah, the One whose affair is sufficiency, and His sanctuary is care.

يَا مَنْ هُوَ الرَّجَاءُ وَ الْأَمَلُ وَ عَلَيْهِ فِي الشَّدَائِدِ الْمُتَّكَلُ

Yā man huwa arrajā’u walamalu wa ‘alayhi fī ashshadā’id almuttaqal.

O the One who is hope and expectation, and upon whom we rely in hardships.

مَسَّنِيَ الضُّرُّ وَ أَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

Massaniyaddurru wa anta arḥamu arrāḥimīn.

I have been touched by harm, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.

وَ ضَاقَتْ عَلَيَّ الْمَذَاهِبُ وَ أَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ

Wa ḍāqat ‘alayya almadhāhibu wa anta khayru arrāziqīn.

And the paths have become narrow for me, and You are the best of providers.

كَيْفَ أَخَافُ وَ أَنْتَ رَجَائِي وَ كَيْفَ أَضِيعُ وَ أَنْتَ لِشِدَّتِي وَ رَخَائِي

Kayfa akhāfu wa anta rajā’ī wa kayfa aḍī‘u wa anta lishiddatī wa rakhā’ī.

How should I fear when You are my hope, and how should I be lost when You are my strength in difficulty and ease?

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِمَا وَارَتِ الْحُجُبُ مِنْ جَلَالِكَ وَ جَمَالِكَ

Allāhumma innī as’aluka bimā wāratilḥujubu min jalālika wa jamālika.

O Allah, I ask You by what is veiled by the curtains of Your Majesty and Your Beauty.

وَ بِمَا أَطَافَ الْعَرْشُ مِنْ بَهَاءِ كَمَالِكَ

Wa bimā aṭāfa al‘arshu min bahā’i kamālika.

And by what the Throne is surrounded by of the splendor of Your perfection.

وَ بِمَعَاقِدِ الْعِزِّ مِنْ عَرْشِكَ الثَّابِتِ الْأَرْكَانِ

Wa bimā‘āqidi al‘izz min ‘arshika aththābitilarkan.

And by the places of honor in Your Throne, with its firm pillars.

وَ بِمَا تُحِيطُ بِهِ قُدْرَتُكَ مِنْ مَلَكُوتِ السُّلْطَانِ

Wa bimā tuḥīṭu bihi qudratuka min malakūti assultān.

And by what Your power encompasses from the dominion of sovereignty.

يَا مَنْ لَا رَادَّ لِأَمْرِهِ وَ لا مُعَقِّبَ لِحُكْمِهِ

Yā man lā rādda liamrihi wa lā mu‘aqqiba liḥukmih.

O the One whose command cannot be turned back, and whose judgment is not reversed.

اضْرِبْ بَيْنِي وَ بَيْنَ أَعْدَائِي سِتْراً مِنْ سِتْرِكَ

Idhrib baynī wa bayna a‘dā’ī sitran min sitrik.

Place between me and my enemies a veil from Your veiling.

وَ كَافِيَةً مِنْ أَمْرِكَ

Wa kāfiyatan min amrik.

And a sufficiency from Your command.

يَا مَنْ لَا تَخْرِقُ قُدْرَتَهُ عَوَاصِفُ الرِّيَاحِ

Yā man lā takhriqu qudratahu ‘awāṣifu arriyāḥ.

O the One whose power is not breached by the storms of the winds.

وَ لَا تَقْطَعُهُ بَوَاتِرُ الصِّفَاحِ

Wa lā taqṭa‘uhu bawātiru asṣifāḥ.

And whose course is not cut by the sudden blows of the spears.

وَ لَا تَنْفُذُ فِيهِ عَوَامِلُ الرِّمَاحِ

Wa lā tanfuḏu fīhi ‘awāmilu arrimāḥ.

And whose being is not pierced by the forces of the spears.

يَا شَدِيدَ الْبَطْشِ يَا عَالِيَ الْعَرْشِ

Yā shadīda albaṭshi yā ‘ālīya al‘arsh.

O the One of severe grip, O the Exalted of the Throne.

اكْشِفْ ضُرِّي يَا كَاشِفَ ضُرِّ أَيُّوبَ

Ikshif ḍurrī yā kāshifa ḍurri Ayyūb.

Remove my hardship, O One who removed the hardship of Job.

وَ اضْرِبْ بَيْنِي وَ بَيْنَ مَنْ يَرْمِينِي بِبَوَائِقِهِ

Wa iḍrib baynī wa bayna man yarmīnī bibawā’iqih.

And strike between me and those who target me with their evil plans.

وَيَسْرِي إِلَيَّ طَوَارِقُهُ بِكَافِيَةٍ مِنْ كَوَافِيكَ

Wa yasrī ilayya ṭawāriquhu bikāfiyatim min kawāfīki.

And let his calamities approach me with the sufficiency of Your protection.

وَ وَاقِيَةٍ مِنْ دَوَاعِيكَ

Wa wāqiyatan min dawā‘īki.

And protect me from the destructive forces of Your will.

وَ فَرِّجْ هَمِّي وَ غَمِّي

Wa farrij hammi wa ghammi.

Relieve my distress and my sorrow.

يَا فَارِجَ غَمِّ يَعْقُوبَ

Yā fārija ghammi Y‘aqūb.

O Reliever of the grief of Jacob.

وَ اغْلِبْ لِي مَنْ غَلَبَنِي

Wa aghlib lī man ghalabanī.

And give me victory over those who have wronged me.

يَا غَالِباً غَيْرَ مَغْلُوبٍ

Yā ghāliban ghayra maghlūb.

O the One who triumphs, never defeated.

وَ رَدَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِغَيْظِهِمْ لَمْ يَنالُوا خَيْراً

Wa radda Allāhu alladhīna kafarū bighayẓihim lam yanālū khayran.

And Allah returned those who disbelieved with His wrath, and they did not attain any good.

وَ كَفَى اللَّهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الْقِتَالَ

Wa kafā Allāhu almu’minīn alqitāl.

And Allah sufficed the believers in the battle.

وَ كانَ اللَّهُ قَوِيًّا عَزِيزاً

Wa kāna Allāhu qawiyyāan ‘azīzāan.

And Allah is Strong, Almighty.

فَأَيَّدْنَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا عَلى‌ عَدُوِّهِمْ فَأَصْبَحُوا ظَاهِرِينَ

Fa ayyadnā alladhīna āmanū ‘alā ‘adūhīm faaṣbaḥūẓāhirīn.

Then We supported those who believed against their enemies, and they became victorious.

يَا مَنْ نَجَّى نُوحاً مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ

Yā man najjā Nūḥan min alqawmi azẓālimīn.

O the One who saved Noah from the oppressive people.

وَ يَا مَنْ نَجَّى لُوطاً مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الْفَاسِقِينَ

Wa yā man najjā Lūṭan min alqawmi alfāsiqīn.

And O the One who saved Lot from the sinful people.

يَا مَنْ نَجَّى هُوداً مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الْعَادِينَ

Yā man najjā Hūdān min alqawmi al‘Ādīn.

And O the One who saved Hud from the people of ‘Ād.

يَا مَنْ نَجَّى مُحَمَّداً مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الْمُسْتَهْزِئِينَ

Yā man najjā Muḥammadan min alqawmi almustahzi’īn.

And O the One who saved Muhammad from the mocking people.

أَسْأَلُكَ بِحَقِّ شَهْرِنَا هَذَا وَ أَيَّامِهِ

As’aluka biḥaqqi shahrinā hādhā wa ayyāmihi.

I ask You by the right of this month and its days.

الَّذِي كَانَ رَسُولُكَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ يَدْأَبُ فِي صِيَامِهِ وَ قِيَامِهِ

Alladhī kāna rasūlukā ṣallā Allāhu ‘alayhi wa ālihī yad’abu fī ṣiyāmihī wa qiyāmihī.

In which Your Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, was diligent in fasting and standing in prayer.

مَدَى سِنِيهِ وَ أَعْوَامِهِ

Madā sinīhī wa a‘wāmihī.

Throughout his years and seasons.

أَنْ تَجْعَلَنِي فِيهِ مِنَ الْمَقْبُولِينَ أَعْمَالَهُمْ

An taj‘alani fīhī min almaqbūlīn a‘mālahum.

That You make me among those whose deeds are accepted in it.

الْبَالِغِينَ فِيهِ آمَالَهُمْ

Albālighīn fīhī āmālahum.

And those who reach their hopes in it.

وَ الْقَاضِينَ فِي طَاعَتِكَ آجَالَهُمْ

Wa alqaḍīn fī ṭā‘atikā ājālahum.

And those whose term in Your obedience is completed.

وَ أَنْ تُدْرِكَ بِي صِيَامَ الشَّهْرِ الْمُفْتَرَضِ

Wa an tudrikī bī ṣiyāma ashshahri almuftaraḍī.

And that I complete the fast of the obligatory month.

شَهْرِ الصِّيَامِ عَلَى التَّكْمِلَةِ وَ التَّمَامِ

Shahri asṣiyāmi ‘alā attakmīlati wa attamām.

The month of fasting, completed in perfection.

وَ اسْلَخْهَا بِانْسِلَاخِي مِنَ الْآثَامِ

Wa aslakḥahā biansilākhī min alāthām.

And cleanse it by my removal from sins.

فَإِنِّي مُتَحَصِّنٌ بِكَ ذُو اعْتِصَامٍ

Fa innī mutaḥaṣṣinun bika dhū i‘tiṣāmin.

For indeed, I am fortified with You, holding fast to You.

بِأَسْمَائِكَ الْعِظَامِ وَ مُوَالاةِ أَوْلِيَائِكَ الْكِرَامِ

Biasmā’ika al‘iẓāmī wa muwālāti awliyā’ika alkrāmī.

By Your great names, and the love of Your noble allies.

أَهْلِ النَّقْضِ وَ الْإِبْرَامِ

Ahlin naqdī wa alibrām.

The people of breaking and binding.

إِمَامٍ مِنْهُمْ بَعْدَ إِمَامٍ مَصَابِيحِ الظَّلَامِ

Imāmīn minhum ba‘da imāmin maṣābīḥi azzalām.

A leader from them after another, the lights in the darkness.

وَ حُجَجِ اللَّهِ عَلَى جَمِيعِ الْأَنَامِ

Wa ḥujajillāhi ‘alā jamī‘ilanām.

And the proofs of Allah over all of creation.

عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْكَ أَفْضَلُ الصَّلَاةِ وَ السَّلَامُ

‘Alayhim minkā afḍalu aṣṣalāti wa assalām.

Upon them, the best of blessings and peace from You.

اللَّهُمَّ وَ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِحَقِّ الْبَيْتِ الْحَرَامِ

Allāhumma wa innī as’aluka biḥaqqi albayti alḥarām.

O Allah, and I ask You by the right of the Sacred House.

وَ الرُّكْنِ وَ الْمَقَامِ وَ الْمَشَاعِرِ الْعِظَامِ

Wa arrukni wa almaqāmi wa almashā‘iri al‘iẓām.

And by the corner, and the standing place, and the sacred sites.

أَنْ تَهَبَ لِيَ اللَّيْلَةَ الْجَزِيلَ مِنْ عَطَائِكَ

An tahiba lī allaylata aljazīla min ‘aṭā’ika.

That You grant me abundant gifts this night from Your bounty.

وَ الْإِعَاذَةَ مِنْ بَلَائِكَ

Wa ali‘ādhata min balā’ika.

And protection from Your afflictions.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ الْأَوْصِيَاءِ

Allāhumma ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa ālī baytihi alawṣiyā’i.

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of his household, the chosen ones.

الْهُدَاةِ الدُّعَاةِ الرُّعَاءِ

Alhudātī addu‘ātī arru‘ā’i.

The guides, the callers to the truth, the shepherds.

وَ أَنْ لَا تَجْعَلَ حَظِّي مِنْ هَذَا الدُّعَاءِ تِلَاوَتَهُ

Wa an lā taj‘ala ḥaẓī min hādha addu‘ā’i tilāwatih.

And do not make my portion from this supplication its recitation.

وَ اجْعَلْ حَظِّي مِنْهُ إِجَابَتَهُ

Wa aj‘al ḥaẓī minhu ijābatah.

But make my portion from it its acceptance.

إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Innaka ‘alā kulli shay’in qadīr.

Indeed, You are capable of all things.
